I have a question for anyone with over 2500 rep: I just hit that mark, and was granted the "create tag synonyms" privilege. Where do I do this?

Or just go directly to /tags/synonyms.

@Cerberus The displayed rep does not take deleted stuff into account. You could post a question/answer, get a couple points, but then decide to delete your post; you could answer a question which gets deleted later on, taking down your answer with it; or you could get a whole lot of upvotes from a user who then decides to delete his account.

Your displayed rep will not go down in any of those cases (don't ask me why). It will gradually go out of sync with your actual rep as time passes.

You can check your actual rep anytime by visiting the report at /reputation. (Clicking on your displayed rep will get you there.)

At the very bottom of the rep report you will see a "Trigger Rep Recalc" button that will bring your displayed rep in sync with your actual rep.

So you can trigger a rep recalc for yourself anytime. (Well, once every 24 hours.)

Mods can trigger rep recalcs for other users, just like I did yesterday.

There are also mod actions that trigger rep recalc automatically, such as merging two accounts into one.

Lastly, every once in a while, there can be global rep recalcs across the entire site or even the entire network. Though the last one was like two years ago, when the rep gain from question upvotes was reduced from +10 to +5.

@RegDwightѬſ道 If I were to guess I would say that an individual's reputation is stored as an integer against their profile. When something happens that's guaranteed to only affect up to two people's rep, then finding and changing that number is a relatively cheap operation. On the other hand, when something is deleted then finding all the people the deletion affects could be a relatively expensive operation, so The System doesn't do it automatically. I don't know, relational databases are tricky.

Also, it's possible that TPTB think that it's unfair to adjust someone's rep when it's been fairly awarded, just because something got deleted. The reputation was awarded by the community, but would be taken away by The System.
