12:05 AM
@BlenderWarrior We have @X-27 and @RadishoftheOpera who are quite knowladable about the game engine
For me its a bit out of my field

1 hour later…
1:15 AM
@NoviceInDisguise Me too
It feels like people are trying to keep it alive when what it really needs, is to either be trashed, or completely rewritten as a separate app
I just think it's that one extra feature that can just get in the way of more important development (I do understand that devs that work on the GE aren't necessarily going to want to work on other areas)

1:33 AM
@TARDISMaker For starters logic bricks should be turned into nodes in the node editor

1:54 AM
@GiantCowFilms I would agree
The thing is though, UE4 already has that, and it's much more developed
You also get it for free
It just has some weird licensing stuff going on if you make money

2:13 AM
@TARDISMaker Though I think as far as money making goes, not many of us have that issue :P

lol, true

@GiantCowFilms Yeah
Only people who are looking to sell their games are going to run into it

12 hours later…
2:37 PM
@gandalf3 when I saw the title to this question I thought of writing something exactly like you did meta.blender.stackexchange.com/questions/821/…

2:56 PM
Is it better to sculpt in Perspective or Orthographic mode?
Would that be a good question on this site too?

1 hour later…
4:14 PM
@David I always forget how dry your humor is :)
@NoviceInDisguise I personally think that it could be a bit opinion based
I like using perspective for everything, but that's me
I'm sure the people who use Ortho for everything would rather sculpt in Ortho.

@TARDISMaker Good point

5:03 PM
PHP frameworks rock, since half of your work is done

ok . . . that was random

They also add a load time surcharge of 300ms + 20% for any additional features
@NoviceInDisguise I'm starting a conversation by jumping in!
with a new topic :P

Not much to jump into currently . . .

I never used to bother with frameworks, and my apps were FAST....

@GiantCowFilms what framework have you discovered, and what does it do?
Also, that was random

5:05 PM
@TARDISMaker laravel
laravel takes 300ms

@GiantCowFilms So it's a wrapper that makes the code cleaner?
@GiantCowFilms I have no concept on how fast that is

.3 seconds

Blend_Exchange process the page in 15ms on my localhost machine...

@TARDISMaker Slow

5:07 PM
@NoviceInDisguise No, that would be 3000ms

(sorry, my messages came in out of order, my wifi died)

Ummm?
@TARDISMaker No

@TARDISMaker No....

How am I wrong about this?

5:08 PM
@TARDISMaker Mili = 1/1000

@GiantCowFilms Exactly

so one millisecond is 1/1000 of a secound

Micro seconds on the other hand
Or nano seconds

1/1000 secound * 3000 = 3 secounds

5:08 PM
not .3

That's exactly what I said
You said 300 originally

Yes
so 300 is .3 secounds

Okay

1/1000 * 300 = 300/1000 = 3/10 = /3
:P

Oh, sorry, I didn't see "." in @NoviceInDisguise's post

5:10 PM
Ah
anyway
laravel is bugging me
I don't stand for anything over 100ms
And prefer to stay south of 50

I should learn more back end stuff

@TARDISMaker back end is the hard bit

@GiantCowFilms Yeah
I just know HTML CSS decently well
I know PHP, but I'm not much good at it

@TARDISMaker I do my front end in a day or two (unless I'm doing something fancy with canvas or video)
and spend month + on the backend

Your faster than me on the front end then
It usually takes me a few days to do it

5:13 PM
@TARDISMaker Depends what you are doing

But I'm also figuring stuff out as I go

Yah
I know my front end very well

@GiantCowFilms Yeah
For me, it's that I know the coding pretty well, I don't know the implementations well

Sometimes, like when vertically and horizontally centering inside a percentage width div, I get stuck

I think I usually end up spending the most amount of time trying to center things :)
There doesn't really seem to be a good way to do it, that stays responsive

5:16 PM
Yah
If you use flexbox its pretty easy
Phalcon looks cool
its built into php and written in C
so it doesn't have some of the laravel issues

@GiantCowFilms That would be a lot faster

Waa
I already started on this appliation
but if it takes 300 ms to load that just wont do
Yah
laravel sits at the bottom of the benchmarks while phalcon sits on top
Phalcon is twice as fast as any other framework, and miles above laravel
Wahhh I just spend all that time learning laravel
The trick with laravel, and why it is so overated, is that it markets itself so well
Also it is very clean code
Phalcons API looks like I wrote it... XD

5:37 PM
lol

1 hour later…
6:54 PM
Wahhh
out with frameworks, in with real work

3 hours later…
9:55 PM
hey guys. back from vacation

2 hours later…
11:26 PM
@NoviceInDisguise i know it's short notice, but do you think you could make some underwater music? blenderartists.org/forum/…
