@syb0rg Right, I keep forgetting SE isn't in the same time zone as me. Thanks :)

@Jamal Do you happen to remember if you edited my question more than once? I have no reason to ask except curiosity. I could have sworn I remembered seeing an edit from you that was just "edited tags", but when I look now it says "deleted 55 characters in body; edited tags". Do mods have the ability to edit a question further but still only have it count as one edit, or am I misremembering?

Like everyone, if someone edits the same question within 5 minutes of no-one else editing it, then the edits are 'merged'. There is nothing mod-magic about it.

@rolfl syb0rg had edited it when I looked the first time. Their edit was after Jamal's

Q: Is there a grace period for correction of edits?

balphaI just edited this question twice, because I had left a typo in the title after the first edit. In the revision history, both edits seem to have been merged into one, using the edit summary from the second edit. Is this on purpose? Is there a grace period for correcting edits?

Hey @Doorknob

Hello!

How goes the spying on Code Rev-- er...

shhh don't tell them
if we whisper in italics, I don't think they'll hear us

@undergroundmonorail - all I can think is that jamal edited it twice before syb0rg's first edit.

12:21 AM
@rolfl I must be misremembering, then.

The two Jama edits would have been merged as one.

@Doorknob http://youtu.be/7ixQr7-3hyI?t=8s

Also, when you have certain rep .... I'll look it up in a bit... but you can edit the tags really easily
you do not need to edit the question to change the tags.
I imagine that is what Jamal does routinely.

That's neat.

@undergroundmonorail - 10K on graduated sites, 2K on betas ... see the bottom of this page: codereview.stackexchange.com/help/privileges/moderator-tools

12:25 AM
That's really cool!

it is .... it allows you to sort things really fast.
Also, I imagine he did that, and then edited the main content separately.... and probably saved the real edit moments before syb0rg did his. There is nothing magical about mod editing.

Alright, probably misremembering on my end. Thanks though :)

No problem, and, I am not too far from Copy Editor!

1:05 AM
@rolfl I only do that when I make tag-only edits, which is not too often.

Whoah , it's, The Doctor....

@Doorknob, your ping was perfectly timed with a "Hey!" in the song i'm listening to.

@rolfl Hi, I'm undergroundmonorail, and I could rewrite that in like 30 bytes come on

@undergroundmonorail - much simpler as:

@rolfl That means that PCG=^CR, therefore your point is invalid as it applies to you too :D

We're still here

I think I have found the metric that the CM's use to decide whether to graduate a site, or not: They need someone to have [badge:reviewer] in the reopen queue on meta: meta.codereview.stackexchange.com/review/reopen/stats

2:37 AM
Have we ever even had 250 reopen votes?

There has never been one ;-)

Okay, mods, you know what to do: close all the questions, edit all the questions, and let the community review them.

There have been 37 suggested edit reviews on meta (requires two non-mods to process), and 7 questions have gone to close-review queue....,
I was joking .... right?

Of course.

Hi syb0rg
Sorry I can't type... syb0rg

It's fine. You can edit messages. But only up to 2 minutes after originally posting them.
Nice review by the way. Let me make a few quick edits though.

Alright.
@user58697 Why did you find the Pa_IsStreamActive suspicious?

@rolfl He is quite knowledgeable in many languages as well.

I see that ..... and he's encroaching on my Java territory (I am kidding).

Normally I'd try to implement progress tracking as another callback. This way it'd be nicely integratable with a gui application. And I don't like sleeps in general.
No-no-no. Not Java.

Got it.

@rolfl That may be partial to my vote balancing system. I'm targeting users with lower reputations and upvoting their answers (if they add meaningful content).
@user58697 Hmm, I'm not sure how I could do this with PortAudio, besides modifying the value of a struct member inside of the callback and then printing it outside of the callback. I just starting using PortAudio myself.

Really, this is in jest, but you have now successfully managed to post good answers to multiple questions, and have 'competed' against all the top-4 people on the site. Good job.

and all the moderators.

@user58697 You should change your profile avatar and name to something more unique and memorable.

@syb0rg: as I said, I am not familiar with portaudio. Maybe there's no simple solution - and going for thread-based implementation is not what your code is about.
PS: I'll change at 1000 points...

10:19 AM
@rolfl I was reading java mailing lists today and appereantly they are really into the designing (and seeng whether it is possible) fase of for example value types and tuples for Java, pretty interesting

Quadcopter firing things thanks to a compressed air blowpipe.
@skiwi What do they call value types?

@Morwenn I'm still trying to figure that out fully, but as far as I have figured it means values and not references, so for example an int would be allowed in a List<E> at some point... Atleast that's what I think

@skiwi The difference between value and reference types is (somewhat) clear in C++, but I doubt that they would adopt the eaxct same semantics in Java.
Probably types with deep copying semantics.
Like the primitive types.

It's, I believe, in the end all focused on performance
And also API consistency, getting rid of all primitive overloads
I'm wondering where to find the actual discussion about it though... Last hints were from a mailing list in January
Seems to still be internal :(

I only found an article that talks about it.
I find it funny that a language that used to say "references are simpler, let's make everything references" now tries to implement value semantics :p

nice question

I want to work on my TCG for the challenge, but the unit tests are not fun to make :(

@skiwi when do they are fun to make?

They would be atleast not a pain if there was some concise syntax for simple tests...
I've been thinking about it since yesterday afternoon, but cannot seem to come up with something myself, that justifies all use cases
All I care about in pseudocode is:
@Test Arguments.requirePositive:
    1 -> 1
    0 -> IllegalArgumentException.class
    -1 -> IllegalArgumentException.class

actually on your code

10:40 AM
Where the method has an int as argument (left hand side) and an int as return type (right hand side), mixed with an exception

now we are speaking of it

I have no interst in all that boiler plate >.>

you can set it up in 1 test the 3 things
just try and catch the exception
like this :
try
0
fail

I know... there are some possibilities However finding back the actual error is harder then, but on the other hand, the tests should not fail anyway

@skiwi - if you use eclipse, you can use a wizard to create a unit-test ... and part of the process allows you to select which methods on the target class ou want to test, and it will create all the boilerplate for you.

10:42 AM
The closest that comes to tuples are arrays, which for (personal) unit tests would be enough hacking around

no, use messages in your asserts, like I pointed out here :codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/47660/…

@rolfl Same on Netbeans, however it'll create only one test method, whereas you want to test 3 different conditions for example

That is sort of why I often have multiple conditions tested in each test method ;-)

@rolfl is it time now, for the flamewars episode "review"?

I must try something, but I do not really have interesting in making a full unit test package :p
I must be doing something stupidly wrong... But why doesn't this compile (give errors?)
test({
    {1, 1},
    {0, IllegalArgumentException.class},
    {-1, IllegalArgumentException.class}
});
I thought it was just a 2-dimensional array of objects
Probably a typo that I cannot see due to all that syntax...
While the following is correct
Object[][] y = {
    {1, 1},
    {2, 2}
};

@Vogel612 That guy sounded pretty hard to deal with, good job on keeping the question open though guys. I feel you done the right thing by cleaning and suggesting edits, I don't know much about the code but I know alot about people being dicks through my job.

All credit to our mods.
I would have shot that guy to outer space if I would have been able to.

People tend to heat up when flustered so it might be a case of making the rules more apparent when posting your first 5 questions for example?
Although I personally feel the rules are clear enough

Well there's still confusion sometimes, you can see that on meta ;)
especially the thing with short questions and a vs b questions was unclear for a long time.#

Too bad, I can't abuse lambdas to work on literals...

@all - I am in the process of editing that flame-wars meta question ... and checking some issues out with the SE folk... it may take a bit....

or has it to do with the times allowed?

I can't even get out of the internal net, yep

11:28 AM
@Vogel612 and no other wifi's nearby?

@Vogel612 How much sleep do you get, me and my friends had a sleep debate the other night :D

nope.
@Niall usually about 5-6 hrs.
some days it's 3
and on weekends its ~10 if I don't have stuff to do.

@Vogel612 Yeah I tend to get 5-6, but I end up crashing for 8+ on the weekends

Happy if I get 6,5 hrs during week on school days here

@Vogel612 :( pitty that parents do that :)

11:30 AM
Can't they only cut it offa fter certain time?

I'm trying to get a steady 7 hours all through the week or I find my weekends become unproductive

Though disclaimer is that I have not been doign full weeks for a very long time (uni schedules), and I'm sure I need a steady 7 to survive that

Napoleon Bonaparte : Six hours sleep for a man, seven for a woman and eight for a fool
I will become a woman soon tm

@skiwi It's out after 10pm or 3hrs used over the course of the day

That's crappy... Why not negotiate for 11.30pm?
Seems fair to me
Though parents can be a delicate subject ;) Well, the arguing part

11:38 AM
@Vogel612 3 Hours, man that sucks

@Vogel612 - I have added the comment history to your post. Please ensure that things do not get out of hand.

Does this seem to make any sense?
@Test
public void testRequirePositive() {
    TestCase testCase = new TestCase(
            method("testRequirePositive", int.class),
            test(arg(1), expect(1)),
            test(arg(0), expect(IllegalArgumentException.class)),
            test(arg(-1), expect(IllegalArgumentException.class))
    );
    test(testCase);
}

nope... any time you duplicate the test name as both a function, and a string, you have something wrong.

Wondering how else I could inject it... without writing my custom junit extension
It seems that functiosn cannot capture a variable number of arguments

Unit-testing code us ugly ... live with it... that's what everyone else does ;-)

11:50 AM
I think I'll need to...
Sadly this doesn't work: Function<Object[], Object> f = Arguments::requirePositive;
Would be surprised if it actually did
