mine wasn't showing up so I fixed that @Mat'sMug

:)
@Malachi that might get you a couple more votes ;)
Is this overkill for a tag wiki?

it had on it though..... so I refactored the tag

then it was somewhere in the list of 33 - is a synonym.
@syb0rg owns the highest-voted post!

When should we do our post-mortem analysis for the UTTT challenge?

@Mat'sMug it wasn't showing in the list of questions. I went looking for my ugly mug and couldn't find me.
we will see if you can beat me to it @Mat'sMug I have a Python Tag out there somewhere
I need 9 more

@Mat'sMug Best info page I've seen on StackExchange :o

Q: STL-compliant list class

Desu_Never_LiesWell, this is my first attempt to create a STL-compliant container. I'd like to know if it meets STL concepts & requirements, so feel free to critique. P.S.: list-specific implementations of operations such as splice and so on are yet to be done, but since there aren't any requirements for them ...

Q: How can I get a IPython NotebookApp to be started and still manage it from outside of a browser?

mrclIt is possible to start a notebook app within an ipython console by from IPython.html import notebookapp nbapp = notebookapp.NotebookApp() nbapp.initialize() nbapp.start() This will simply open a browser with a dashboard from which is possible to create/delete and start/shutdown notebooks. I thought I added more to the tag than that though, I will have to add to it later.

Q: Simple sparse array

MorwennToday, I tried to create a really simple sparse_array container adapter. I did not provide all the STL-like functions, only the elementary ones as a proof of concept. I also trimmed the class from its copy constructor and all the unecessary things for this review actually. Here is the code: #inc...

Urgh, the formatting of the code in the STL-list question is plain horrible ç___ç

@Mat'sMug I refuse to believe that the UTTT challenge is finished! I still haven't posted my code
Btw, there is a whole lot of users around here with starting letter "M"...

I don't care, my name is the best.
I'mv surprised: I asked a question 3 minutes ago, and it still hasn't been edited by Jamal!

7:39 PM
@sim ...well then post it!!!

@Mat'sMug It violates SRP!

clarify this
I don't even...

@Morwenn: I see nothing that warrants editing. Here, take your gold [badge:does-not-need-editing].

Q: Automatically update one-to-many bi-directional relationship

Layl ConwayIn an example game engine server, the game world could be represented by a World object. The game might have multiple game worlds and a player who is in a world only needs to receive position data of units in that world. class World { public List<Unit> Units { get; set; } } However a piece...

Yes, I've edited that...

"Something went wrong"

now there is two Simon's @Simon
did it ping you both?

7:48 PM
@sim so what? Leave it for reviewers to point out, or point it out yourself in a selfie, no?

@Malachi It pinged me at least
@Mat'sMug But you have said that it should be our best possible code! :)

Welcome @Simon!
some of my code is code I did at work, probably not my best work because I am under duress

@Malachi Thanks, but I've been here for almost 4 months already... It's strange that you apparently haven't noticed me, considering all the messages you have starred...
2
(Welcome, @SimonMinshall)

@SimonAndréForsberg I can't star that message either because I am out of them

@sim yeah.... also said it was the challenge for February 2014, ... are you coming up with some "UTTT Forever"?

7:50 PM
@SimonAndréForsberg I stole one that I gave to @Mat'sMug....lol

welcome @Simon aswell

(ref Duke Nukem Forever / "vaporware") ;)

@Malachi And now I'm out of 'em!

Me too!

@SimonAndréForsberg TS'd you first
@Mat'sMug LOL

7:52 PM
@Mat'sMug Good point good point, but we also said that we don't have a march challenge, and I am planning on making a socket protocol for UTTT this month!
Damn I have so many things I want to code...

Then better start already! jk

ahhhh I gotta get BTW

Did you all actually miss this one?

@skiwi DirectEscherGL

We should set up a meta post running all of March to vote on the April challenge

7:56 PM
@Mat'sMug Or we could let the users of our chat room decide :)

took a while to get the comment @JerryCoffin

Didn't you think that it was the voting-thingy was one of the reasons for why the weekly-challenge participation was reduced?

And now I'll read the name forever as Jerry coughing

I thinks it had more to do with the Holidays and that it was a weekly thing. A meta post makes it look more democratic... even if only chat users vote :)

@skiwi Fair enough. It took me a while to make the comment. Was nearly a toss-up with "OpenEscher3D".

8:04 PM
@skiwi TS!!

What does TS stand for in this context?
I only ever use TS for transexual or Technical Specification.

Theoretical Star
lol!

Ow, ok.

@skiwi - you see this:

@Mat'sMug TS! :)

8:08 PM
cool @rolfl!

I'll write it up tonight, if it's not done already by then

@Mat'sMug I just hope that there's either not too many entries, or that the entries we receive that doesn't get chosen perhaps can get chosen another time.

Wouldn't have thought they would update a beta version, that is about to go live, for one bug only.

Yes! I did not fail my computer system security midterm!

@SimonAndréForsberg no one ever said Fizz-Buzz-Banana couldn't be re-submitted :)

8:12 PM
gratz @Jamal, can I have your password now?

@Mat'sMug Should really be changed to ZS (zen star).

@Jamal yay!

@skiwi: Yes. It's my first name backwards.

@Jamal About those old meta Weekend challenge questions, I think that a) They don't need to be locked. b) If they must be locked, "(...) but it is not considered a good, on-topic question for this site" is confusing.

8:15 PM
@Malachi I've rolled back your retag - that would skew the tag stats (although I could further filter on posts' creation date...)

@SimonAndréForsberg: Yes, I was thinking about that as well. I may decide to unlock them.

so... it did matter that my index was starting at 1 and not at 0

why?

A: Automatically update one-to-many bi-directional relationship

Jeff VanzellaThe best way to accomplish this is to have each World, Structure, and anywhere else a unit can move to inherit an interface IEnterable, which looks like public interface IEnterable { void Enter(Unit unit); void Leave(Unit unit); } Your unit would then have this as a property, and a Mov...

about what are you exactly talking? if it's directed to me

There ARE a lot of Simons here

Oh no, how did I not recognize that that actress I saw in a movie yesterday also plays in The Hunger Games... /brain

8:22 PM
So, when @Simon says ... we say 'which simon?'

@Malachi it did ping me too but the window was hidden

Yeah, turns out you were right @rolfl... Also size() being the same when I keep adding elements doesn't even make sense

See, I can remember things from 6hrs ago, and tell JerryCoffin I am right, will you?

@JerryCoffin @rolfl's right!

My wife's favorite line ... It's not the coughing that carries you off, but the coffin they carry you off in.
But, with a name like Rolf it's not really fair of me to point fingers at other people's names ;-)

Also confirmed @rolfl that the issue in my program is also fixed

@rolfl I was sure it'd happen some day.

@skiwi - well, see there, you altered history in unexpected ways.... I am somewhat surprised they did a release just for you ... ;-)

Today I learned that you can star starred lines by clicking the star next to it on The 2nd Monitor
I'm surprised aswell

8:28 PM
We will call it the skiwi Java version

@skiwi Much improvement. Such great.

I have yet to figure out how to star unstarred posts with a phone.

So if I were to go back in time, and not fix this, then the world could have been gone due to a JVM error, dang.

nah, the world would have moved to C# :p

@rolfl Unfortunately the version will only be valid until 18 march

Don't tell Jerry, but, when Java starts returning false for a method that says 'return true', it is somewhat embarassing ;-)
@skiwi out of intrest, did you get a notification that I edited/updated the answer to your SO question?

nope didn't @rolfl

OK, good to know... often wondered whether people do get notified... anyway, Iupdated the answer.

A: Modelling a Call Center

Jeff VanzellaOverall, code is easy to read. A few minor nit-picky items. Try not us use booleans, use enums instead. i.e. public enum EmployeeStatus { OnCall, Available } This allows you to add more status as requirements change: public enum EmployeeStatus { OnCall, Available, ...

@JeffVanzella - have you seen the one-more-vote SEDE query?

I would rather write an actual, useful application.

@Donald.McLean like what?

9:06 PM
@Mat'sMug: for the new post?

@Jamal if you want, yeah :)

@Mat'sMug I've decided that my office is doing it all wrong and I'm working on a status tracking app to replace the need to send out piles of emails whenver there's planned system downtime.

this could be interesting..

Part of the thing is system dependencies. When they had to work on the power in one of the computer rooms, dozens of physical systems hosting many apps were all down. How do you make sure that people understand the true scope of what is affected? Use an app.
It would also get rid of the barrage of emails in my group from folks who are telecommuting, leaving early, taking leave, etc. Status can be tracked for any element that is meaningful to an organization.

so you'd take the best-written implementation and use that at your workplace? ;p

9:11 PM
@rolfl Which answer are you talking about?

@Mat'sMug Well, except that I have to get IT to buy in. Easier said than done.
Besides. That's not really amenable to a code challenge because it's too big.
Unless people just wrote parts.

Ideally a could be quickly implemented in a single weekend. And then fine-tuned for a month (or more, if you're from Sweden).

@Donald.McLean Write one piece at a time. In theory, if your specs were perfect when you were done, you'd be able to choose the best answer from each challenge, plug them all together, and it'd all just work (keep in mind, I did say "In theory").

hi @SimonAndréForsberg! Been talking behind your back all this time?!

@SimonAndréForsberg Ehh?

9:24 PM
@Donald.McLean What's non-actual / unuseful about Ultimate TTT?

Aww, I missed a question by @JerryCoffin

@SimonAndréForsberg I have no idea what you are referring to.

@syb0rg Apparently it did work :) Just wanted to say:

I actually didn't know about that one. I'll see what I can garner from it.

@Donald.McLean Oh, you want safe-for-work challenges.... Then I'm out of ideas :)

I'm now going after questions lacking a language tag. I've bumped a few already, but I'll stop there for now.

+1 in the meantime ;)

user247872Hi :) i have a question that i think for those that have programed so far will be easy. So i have tried do make char ...

Sadly, you are way off topic @StackExchange

10:02 PM
@JerryCoffin I don't see much, besides maybe moving the #include <string.h> inside the #ifndef __cplusplus
And being consistent with your spacing: you have *needle!='\0' in one place and needle[1] != '?' in another.
Not enough really for one of my grandiose answers though.

10:16 PM
@syb0rg Can't do that. It's included for the declaration of strlen, which is used in either C or C++. Good point about the spacing though.

@JerryCoffin Hmm. And so I learn more about C++. ;)
@JerryCoffin But you don't use strlen() in the C++ portion of your code, unless I am missing something.

@syb0rg The idea is that match itself can be compiled as either C or C++, so <string.h> is needed either way.

@JeffVanzella Gotta give him credit for guts (if not intelligence).

Should we go reformat it again?
this could go on for hours!

Ouch

@JeffVanzella: Yes, roll it back and mention that we're trying to improve posts, and that changes to these edits are only needed if we changed the OP's meaning.
Which we didn't.

However, I agree that erasing the smiley is sad :(

Minor, but can be a tad noisy. Of course I wouldn't take that out if it were the only thing to change.

is there a way to roll his back, or do I have to redo the formatting?

Yes, go to the revision history, and click rollback for your revision.

@JeffVanzella You did it the long way ;)

it was too mouse clicks lol

Just rollback to revision 3, then add a comment for the OP.
