really i'm not human at all
I don't even have my associates.
My sister does.
I think she has a bachelors in law.

Let's do math
Come on guys
prove you can hang hard
let's do some non-trivial proofs
Let's do some non-trivial topology proofs
I want to go live on youtube
> Define $\mathcal{O}$ to be a megalomaniac controprositute such that the glomeralogy of the silverton is given by the following esperatorationism:
@Secret show me your skills
no time for talk
just write proofs
talk is cheap :p
04:37
$$\mathcal{O}^{\int Diés \text{ not exist}}e^{\infthe \infty \frac{1}{0} u ds^{dta}}$$
We first make the following assumption:
$$x^2+y^2 = mc^2up\frac{ds}{dvt}$$
Submerate that into the above equation, expands into the following:
whaaa? hehe
$$\mathcal{O}^{chicken\text{ chicken CHICKEN}}$$
hehehehehehehehe
:D
Alright fine, I'd just watch youtube
As a result, via the cosmopolitan esmeratarolicate unification of gazzlelow variables, we have the following:

Morning guyz.
morning
05:08
hi
05:30
Guys, on a unit circle, when we are graphing sinθ for different θ (in radians, for example: 0, π/2, π, 3π/2 and 2π), when Sal connects the point on this video: khanacademy.org/math/trigonometry/unit-circle-trig-func/modal/v/… he does it with smooth curves, and not straight lines, why? Maybe because it's a circle and the values will be 'circle' as well?
@NovaliumCompany $\sin\theta$ is a smooth function ...
he could use straight lines, and then use infinity-many points to get a smooth curve
recall: between every real number is another real number
> "you could try other points-in-between"
between every *two real numbers
05:58
Hmm, ok. Thanks.
np
Also, another question. On a p-t graph, what exactly is the position? One dimension? x, y?
p-t <---> x-y
Hm, got it.
@Droleulb yes the blue motif is pretty epic :P
06:04
@skull so we can look the position as y and time for the x? (Both as position)
"position" in space-time, yes
So we can graph only 1 dimension?
did you check the link?
@NovaliumCompany well, you can draw 3D graphs i.e. two positions in space + time.
It's a little harder to draw 4D graphs :-)
06:08
:D, so a 2d graph can only track the x OR y coordinate of an object + the time?
nope, 2D graph is for x and t
time is a dimension
2D graph is for x and t
Ops, never mind, I got it. I just had to look what @skull gave me, sorry :D
Thanks guys, misunderstanding solved.
3D graph is for (x,y,t)
(thumbs up)
:-D
thanks for asking
07:06
Youtube gives me some weird recommendations

Morning John :)
@user187604 please don't multiply post this
2 messages moved to trash
@BernardoMeurer morning :-)
How are you today?
Just getting over a cold, which has been a bit of a pain. But I'm OK today and it's a lovely sunny day.
And a mofo new CPU is on its way from China for one of my servers. So that's good :-)
how's your new desk-top construction coming along?
07:38
@JohnRennie Interesting, I too have just gotten a cold
And nice about the CPU
I can't wait to get a VM share of it :P
No chance :-) I'll be maxing it out myself. That's why I'm paying all that money (£175) for an E3-1280v2.
(I just hope it works!!)
@JohnRennie What do you need all this compute for?
@BernardoMeurer actually at the moment it's just for resampling video.
Oh, yes, the ultimate challenge
A number of friends have been nagging me for copies of various videos and they generally need resampling to make them small enough to download over flaky broadband links.
07:45
@JohnRennie So you're getting this to send movies to Kaumadi? :P
You might say that but I couldn't possibly comment :-)
But no, it isn't just her :-)
I purchased a USENET provider subscription today
For entirely legal downloads of open source films?
07:49
Look at this... 🙅
@JohnRennie For legal downloads of Free and Open Source music
@BernardoMeurer :-)
@YuzurihaInori that's ...kind of disturbing :-)
@JohnRennie I'm disappointed though
I had heard of the USENET as this holy grail of files
But it doesn't really have stuff I wanted
I've never used Usenet, but friends have told me that it seems to be decreasing in popularity.
It's quite expensive to access
08:02
@JohnRennie agreed :-)
Which is why I was hoping some quality content
But no
it's just a horrible mess
All I want is music by this group
@JohnRennie ... xD
Specially their latest album
but it literally does not exist on the internet, USENET, or gopher
You listen to Japanese music?
@BernardoMeurer ?
@YuzurihaInori I like some Japanese Jazz, and I like that one group. Apart from those: no.
08:04
JJazz is nice...
Tell me the name of their latest album, let me see if I can dig sth up.
anything on youtube?
@skull I need it in FLAC
or WAV, or ALAC, or AIFF, or APE
A lossless codec
hmm
@BernardoMeurer Which one do you prefer the most?
I got one of their songs in wav
08:17
@YuzurihaInori Which songs or which albums?
A都市の秋 is my favorite
@BernardoMeurer Lol
@BernardoMeurer What about リサフランク420 / 現代のコンピュー
I don't think I've listened to those
Not to say I'd remember since the names are gibberish to me
It's also known as "a e s t h e t i c s" to more cultured people
Oh, Macintosh Plus?
08:25
Ye
I have that in FLAC
Tracks: 8864

@ChakrapaniNRao your question has been removed. I don't know why. I read your question on Sat. but felt what you said is irrational based on my knowledge in a lot of places so didn't know how to reply you.
@BalarkaSen I am obsessed with this:
Velvet Underground is 10/10
08:39
That track is wild
I agree.
It's so good
I've been listening to it all day
Lou Reed (who wrote that story) is a master of story telling
His spoken word schtick at Metal Machines Music and Lulu is so good
Lulu is on my top 10 albums
Oh boi
/me doesn't like Lulu
08:42
@BalarkaSen when is your last exam over?
cool
good luck, pal
@BernardoMeurer The third from this album, in WAV format, downloaded
@BalarkaSen All the best
@YuzurihaInori send.firefox.com
:D
I found this link which could be their discography in FLAC
But there's no link or anything
And it's in japanese
08:58
I am uploading it in my drive. And sending you the link
I will try my best for the other songs...
Awesome, thanks
I'm really grateful
@YuzurihaInori Thanks.
Same goes to you
@YuzurihaInori Got it, thanks!
09:45
Cool!
A few selected JPop for the cultured !

It is literally emitted by atoms on the surface of the moon. Photons from the sun are absorbed and then the energy from that re-emitted as new photons from the moon.
Is this true, of moonlight?
I feel I'm going to lose this arguement :D
13:37
that is how reflection works, yes

@SirCumference luuk luuk
Hmmmmm. So, question: how viable are multiple Matrioshka Brains as a single SI entity?
For instance, say I am an SI, and I want to expand myself to other stars. How do I do that as a single entity within current physics?
As in: how do I have an SI entity spanning multiple star systems surrounded by Matrioshka Brains?
By SI, I mean ASI, as in: Artificial Superintelligence.
So, is it even possible to have an artificial superintelligence that spans multiple Matrioshka Brains with real world physics?
make one and find out yourself dude
science is all about experimentation
Well, about that.
A Matrioshka Brain is a layer of Dyson Swarms used for computer processing by harnessing a star's worth of energy.
well what are you waiting for, clearly the star's not going to compute that itself
And anyway, the question is: can you sustain a single entity spanning light years of distance across multiple star-sized computer processors?
@Droleulb. The fact that Earth has neither the industry nor the GDP required for such a gigantic computer processor, nor the infrastructure or political will......
14:30
not with that attitude
Basically, you would need entanglement between all the Dyson spheres. How do you expect to shield them from the CMB?
You can only become pure information yourself to span stars ( but that's not present technology )
About that.....
These are really just swarms of solar collectors or rotating habitats when it comes to us meatbags.
That's a Dyson Swarm
For this SI entity, replace the rotating habitats with some nodes and then....well, consume a star system's worth of raw materials for all the layers to make all the Dyson Swarms required and use the solar collectors to obtain all that perfectly useful solar energy to beam to the nodes and then....well, try and guess.
That's possible. But you want an entity. Something that can think... Or am I reading you wrong?
14:35
@Slereah well damn, I've lost the argument. Thanks, at least I'm more educated now :D
Yes, an entity.
@FutureHistorian Let's take the question on face value. A single entity is possible. If you somehow start coding intellogence on the photon spins and polarizations of the CMB itself, you have a universe wide intelligent entity (with a processing lag of about the speed of light).
An artificial superintelligence.
Basically, a post-Singularity entity using Matrioshka Brains for processing power.
But we can do better. Suppose there exist natural wormholes in the space-time foam (spin foam theory, highly speculative). Then we can code on the structure of space-time itself (somehow) and use wormholes to entangle the whole universe. Time lag would be almost negligible (to our standards).
@YuzurihaInori. Actually, I was thinking of this entity having been an AGI when it was first created, before eventually becoming an ASI in a technological singularity that ended its creators, and then its home system was converted into a Matrioshka Brain.
And from there, it would spread just to get more processing power and resources to obtain said processing power.
So, it begins to convert more star systems into raw materials to build more Matrioshka Brains and gain more processing power.
14:43
@FutureHistorian More processing power doesn't mean more intelligence. Intelligence can be said to be the efficiency and complexity with which we can ask questions and get information about a system.
Can processing power help, though?
Especially with the energy of multiple star systems?
@FutureHistorian But the more farther it goes across the universe, the more lag there will be between nodes because of the speed of light.
So......there will be a bottleneck eventually before other SIs are created from the parent SI, right?
@FutureHistorian That's speculative unless we create a system that self increases processing power ( humans don't like to experiment on themselves, or else we are the best system possible )
@FutureHistorian Yes... Atleast according to the present physics.
Well, that is kind of the thing. This SI was an AGI that had a caused a technological singularity.
14:46
"Prediction is hard, especially about the future."
And ended its creators, either intentional or as part of its attempts to increase its processing power and efficiency while doing so.
But it will not stop at the singularity. It would expand. But it will finally come to know that there is a limit in the system it is expanding itself into. That's the speed of light.
And NOTE: This is an extraterrestrial SI.
So.....if we encountered that thing, what happens (as unlikely as such an event is)?
why are we talking trash
Obviously. An SI won't be limited to a single habitat
14:48
I know. It will seek to expand and make more Matrioshka Brains.
I could talk physics instead.
And increase processing power and efficiency.
@FutureHistorian Ignorance. We will just ignore each other. Maybe because we can't interact with each other.
I have an observation which I don't believe but can't disprove re: displacement current @BalarkaSen
Unless we do sth awkward...
14:49
Unless it decides to convert Earth into raw materials for a Sol System Matrioshka Brain or something.
@Semiclassical i suggest math as an alternative
so if you consider that an improvement...
lol
mostly because i can't participate in any thoughtful conversation about physics ;)
eh, this one is just simple E&M
Ampere's law stuff, in the presence of time-varying electric fields
@Semiclassical Ooo...
Let's hear...
14:50
imma dunk out
So, the question is: at what point could such an entity start to bottleneck and subsequent Matrioshka Brains start turning into separate entities?
Suppose you've got a parallel plate capacitor consisting of two large circular plates which are close together
@BalarkaSen Stay
@FutureHistorian Don't know. Highly speculative
@Semiclassical Yeah?
Hmmmm.....
Is 100 light years in diameter good?
There will be an electric field between the plates; away from the edges, it'll be uniformly $E=V/w = \sigma/\epsilon_0$ where $V$ is the potential difference between the plates, $w$ is the plate separation, and $\sigma$ is the charge density on the positive plate (which I'm treating as constant on the plate)
and this field will point from the positive plate to the negative plate. same old capacitor stuff
14:53
@FutureHistorian As I said... Speculative as to what time lag they think is bad. It depends on them.
And that gives me.....about 1,250 stars’ worth of processing power, assuming a 100 light year in diameter bottleneck.
suppose I put a battery with emf $V_0$ across the plates, and then put the upper plate in motion with velocity $v$
@Semiclassical Wait a second. Upper plate?
positive plate
positive, yeah
Cool
Go on...
14:56
Then the displacement current density between the plates is $J_d = \epsilon_0\partial_t E = \epsilon_0 (V/w^2)(dw/dt)$ where i'm ignoring the negative sign
that current density is uniform between the plates (so long as you're away from the edges) and that leads to a circulating magnetic field $B \propto r J_d$
So, that's fine.
Here's the weird part. Suppose you instead disconnected the battery, so that the charge on the plates was fixed. Then $\sigma$ doesn't change, so $E=\sigma/\epsilon_0$ will remain constant between the plates
hence there's no displacement current and seemingly no magnetic field
So, how much is that in Watts, assuming 389 M class stars, 560 K class stars, 135 G class stars, 40 F class stars, 78 A class stars, 40 B class stars and 8 O class stars in that area of space? Oh and....I am adding in 10 neutron stars, 2 black holes, a pulsar and 50 Brown Dwarfs just for good measure.
You haven’t lived until you’re on E and google takes you to a shell office, not a shell station
All of that is internally consistent. But it seems weird that the second case should have no magnetic field at all.
