Wow.
This is really bad.

@Eric that needs to be fixed

"I am just confused and perplexed and I am asking what is obvious to me."
Does this make sense? ^
He's been arguing for hours about what he thinks is right, then admits to being confused.
But yet, he's asking about what's "obvious"?
Y U NO MAKE SENSE?
@Krazer Yez, it does.

he also flagging mod replies, which I find ironic

Yeah. Let's flag a moderator for moderator attention!
That's like telling on your parents or teacher.

@Krazer custom flags? I'm not seeing the bubbles.

6:12 PM
"Mom, mom won't let me have any cookies! D:"

@Eric Go one level higher!

Grandma? lol

everyone knows her cookies are the best

Haha, damn straight.
Now I want cookies.

6:16 PM
Damn... He's still at it...

@Krazer Thanks, but I meant real cookies. In mah mouth. :(

@Eric closest I could do was a high resolution image
@Mysticial his logic (or lack thereof) confounds me

Emphasis on "lack thereof".
Though, I do admit:

Oh god... I feel really bad for reading "Mormons" as "morons" at first glance...

He's doing a good job of trolling religion without attacking religion in general.
@Mysticial LOL
Now I'm going to be doing that too. Thanks.

6:21 PM
lol

Waiting for him to troll Rastafarians

I'm waiting for him to troll atheists. I'll be all over that.

@Eric Nah... the Atheism site got closed.

I know. Sadfais. :(

We should recommend him to go to: reddit.com/r/atheism

6:24 PM
I love how Ali is so attached to his faith that he cannot say "I am a Christian" despite being Christian by his own definition.

this entire conversation in Christianity.SE is silly and pointless. They are just feeding the troll...

@Krazer I already warned them that.

@Krazer Yeah. But that's what makes it a good spectator sport.
I can't run my code without being attached to an outlet, so it passes the time.

@Krazer More mods are showing up. Are they talking about this in the TL as well?

TL?

Ah.
LOL @ Ali's last comment.

@Mysticial they have better things to do

Wrongfully accquiring the name of a dead person and using it for ones own personal interest is copyright infringinment

@Krazer ah

He's going the right way for a suspension if he keeps flagging stuff.

6:29 PM
There are so many mods in that room it isn't even funny.

Yeah. Except for Alypius and Ali, everyone talking is a mod.

how do you ratify an assertion?

lol

@Krazer Very carefully.

@Krazer I expected no less. What I am surprised about is that atheism didn't make it.

@Eric I don't think the Atheists care enough.

Though, looks like they're trying again with a more broad scope:

@Mysticial Me either. We debate science like helical motion in space, not whether or not someone is a particular type of scientist.

I'd probably be an weak, implicit atheist

6:37 PM
Same here. lol
I don't even care enough to go on r/atheism/.

@Mysticial Same, lol

Which is full of memes and ragecomics. :P

Ragecomics are terribad.
Juuuust sayin. :P

ragecomics were fun for a while, but not anymore

Yeah. Now that every internet kiddie and his goldfish makes them.
I haven't seen a funny one in months.

6:40 PM
You guys are on reddit?

To some extent.

^ This.

I'm read mosly r/programming and r/firstworldproblems.

6:41 PM
First world problems = my favorite.

and reddit.com/r/truereddit is somewhat decent

@Krazer OMG THAT IS INCREDIBLE.
I love you.

@Krazer I'm wondering why that isn't on the Reddit frontpage.
1350 in 3 hours should be on front page.

The guy presenting the class just dropped his smartphone on the ground.
So much win.

@Eric shirt pocket fall?
@Mysticial it's no 7 for me

6:47 PM
I'm not even logged in and I don't see it. Did you subscribe to r/programming?

yes
This is also worth reading imo thomaspark.me/2011/10/making-menus-escapable

That room got a timeout. lol
That's a pretty obnoxious timer. lol

well said intervention by jcolebrand

yeah
Apparently only stuff under "My Reddits" show up on the front page.
By default, r/programming is not one of them. So it cannot make front page.

yup

7:01 PM
@Krazer No, he was fumbling with it in his hand. I think he was reading cues off it.

Is hard to pick an answer....

@Washu for which question?

2
Q: How does the healing jutsu work?

WashuIn Naruto, when the medical team starts to heal wounds, they use their chakra. Does this only heal and restore chakra, or does it also help regenerate the skin cut by kunais?

@Mysticial I saw that. It's so stupid.

7:03 PM
@Mysticial hate to be the one responsible for "forgetting" that

Apple isn't getting fined for including Safari, nor Google for including Chrome.
</opinionated tech rant>

@Washu both are okay, but if @Deidara-senpai adds a brief description to each type, it would be a better answer, but if @JNat adds more examples and descriptions, his answer has the potential of being pretty good too.

@Krazer yeah both need something else...

Hey, we're almost at 6 q/d without seeding. Things seem to be going well.

yeah
I ran out of stuff/time to seed.

7:09 PM
I have time (for now), but not stuff.

Omg.. i cant wait for DBZ Movie...

Hey, do we count live-action movies based on anime as on-topic?
I would assume so, j/c.

@Eric The reason probably Apple skates clear of antitrust scrutiny for Macs and iOS probably has to do with market share and how it conducts business. On the desktop and notebook side, while Apple may be seeing its computer business grow at a faster rate than the overall PC market, but Apple is not a dominant player.

@Krazer But on tablets and phones it does the same. Same with Google's Android (though not as big of a deal since manufacturers include their own browsers).

On the mobile side, the success of the iPhone and the iPad means Apple has a much stronger presence… but Android is still the industry leader.
But even if the iPad continues to be the dominant tablet line for years to come and regulators eventually decide smartphones and tablets are separate markets, Apple probably still not be subjected to the kind of antitrust scrutiny Microsoft has seen over the years...

7:14 PM
Exactly. I mean, Google has had some antitrust scrutiny of late, but none re:Chrome.
Apple seems immune to international prosecution due to the high contributions they make to developed countries' GDP.

Microsoft drew the ire of regulators not just for having a dominant position in the desktop operating system market (which not illegal and technically neither is a monopoly), but for abusing that position.
Among other things, Microsoft cut deals with computer makers to dictate what software could and could not be included on new systems, fiddled with its APIs so Internet Explorer and other Microsoft applications would have an inherent advantage over competitors, and used its Windows monopoly as a distribution channel for Internet Explorer with the intention of wiping out competitors like Netscape.
With Apple aside from one exception, they aren't really capable of committing these abuses, since they don’t license their operating system, so it can't really strong arm partners who make iOS devices...

Isn't it still antitrust if they manufacture the devices?

With Android being the the dominant mobile OS, it's difficult to argue Apple deciding to bundle capabilities into iOS, like Photo Stream and iCloud, for instance, constitutes an abuse
@Eric I do agree the with you that the exception here is the built-in Safari Web browser. While Apple does permit third-party browsers for iOS like Google Chrome, Opera Mini, Atomic, Dolphin, and iCab for iPhone and iPad, Safari outperforms the competition by being able to tap into the high-performance JIT compiler in the Nitro Javascript engine.

What about me?

@Mysticial the antitrust comment on the built-in Safari browser

7:21 PM
@Krazer That wasn't me.

I misread

Yeah. Chrome for iOS just uses NSWebView or whatever it's called. No Nitro experience there.

Although web apps got level ground to play with in iOS 5, third-party Web browsers have to rely on a slower JavaScript engine or (in Opera's case) outsource Javascript to a remote service.
Also Apple won't approve a browser that includes a JIT compiler of its own, citing security concerns and noting that iOS is more secure than Windows, OS X, and Android. Apple only gives Safari a pass because Apple can perform rigorous QA on it as part of iOS. But this is mean that Safari has an inherent advantage on iOS that competitors can't match and that's eerily reminiscent of the API "adjustments" Microsoft made to favor IE on Windows.

@Krazer Good point, I wasn't satisfied with the answer but somehow couldn't "feel" what was missing. I will add some more description to that later, gotta go to bed now.

@Krazer Sounds an awful lot like antitrust to me. :P

7:28 PM
Luckily (or unluckily) for MSFT, Windows RT doesn't have this issue sincei t has almost no market share

What I find funny about this MSFT fine is this:
The error was caused by them including specific OSs to offer browser choice in.
If they would just offer it in all of them, it wouldn't have been an issue.

They paid for it. So that's easy enough.

@Mysticial Yeah. It's almost a fairy tale ending.
Good guys make bad guys comply with rules. Bad guys do absolute minimum. Bad guys get punished. The end.

yep

While others slip by as the attention isn't on them... yet

7:34 PM
I guess we'll see what happens.
I'm not holding out for an antitrust suit against anyone but Google or MSFT at this point, though.

in The Upper Room, 4 mins ago, by Ali
now the discussion is no more about belifs
I am not there to proseletyze
but to claim my right over jesus
and all things related to him
how can the catholic church have the right to become authoritative on who jesus was?
or even protestant
The only solution can be is to allow both sides to use their scriptures to narrate "his" jesus
^^ wow... he's just asking for it...

Obvious troll is even more obvious than previously assumed.

@Mysticial are you christian?

@Washu no
agnostic/leaning towards atheist

@Washu He's a Pastafarian.

7:43 PM
I can't debate religion without pointing the circular logic involved.

@Krazer What, God creating everything but somehow being created?
... lol. I saw that message, Krazer. xD

I did not mean to post that it that room

I recently heard a fairly reasonable argument that creation and big-bang theory (not the show) don't actually contradict.
Since you could say that god "created" the big bang.

@Eric lol

Now everyone's happy.

7:44 PM
Now that Mysticial mentions it...
Does anyone in here like the Big Bang Theory (show)?

I like spaghetti

@Mysticial I thought he sneezed

@Krazer lol

Guess not. Wheeee!

@Eric yeah i like BBT

7:53 PM
Oh. :(
I've never seen a question closed so fast:
0
Q: Can anyone claim to be having the correct interpretation of life of Jesus?

AliShould we allow all to claim the correct interpretation of the Life of Christ?

@Eric That is a terrible show.

@LoganM Yay! I'm not the only one!
My entire family loves it.
With the exception of me, of course.

@Eric not a big fan of it either.. it's so demeaning, even w/o the laugh tracks

@Krazer It is. It hurts to hear it sometimes, the stuff they find funny.

Why do you dislike it?

8:07 PM
@Washu The humor isn't... funny. Like, I've never found a joke I liked in that show.
And since it's meant to be a comedy, the plot doesn't compensate if you don't like the humor.

Hm most of the jokes are sarcastic

hi anime

I can beat all of that with a single 30-letter password.

@Mysticial I know, right? I hate more when it makes you change your password every month or whatever.

Sorry, try again.

Zero extra security, tons more hassle.
OMFG, Krazer OS is terrible.

in Thrills and Spills, 52 secs ago, by Logan M
Is there a max size on uploads? My 10 MB Miki gif isn't working ;.;

8:34 PM
i wonder what the biggest anime pic i have is

On my computer at home, I have one that's something like 8000x3000. It's too large to upload onto many websites due to ImageMagick being unable to thumbnail it.

@Eric Just checked, the largest Miki image I have is 6060x8805 and 41006 KB

mine is a maid, who would have guessed...
and then some kantoku then another

@LoganM lmao. I'll check filesize on mine when I get home. I also have some calendar images, but I don't know if they count since they have the actual calendar month printed on them as well.
@Mysticial Whose idea was the Thrills and Spills room?

@Eric Either mine or Krazer's. I don't remember who. But he gave it the name.

8:44 PM
It is a great room.

Then you each get 0.5 points of awesome.

I'm gonna wonder how the community mods will respond when they see it.

lol

14 hours ago, by Mysticial
We should make a chatroom just for spins.

@Eric My second largest is almost the same size. 6060x8614, and filesize is actually larger (53 MB)

8:46 PM
My idea. Krazer's name.

should we include an emergency link to this snippet? javascript:$('img').filter(function() { if( this.src.substr(-3).toUpperCase() === 'GIF' ) return this; }).replaceWith('<img src="http://i.imgur.com/vMgrL.png" />');

@Krazer brohoof /)

@Krazer lol!

8:58 PM
Ouch. 65% on my security test.
In my defense, that's not bad for attending 1 class in the whole semester.

@Eric, network ksecurity?

@Eric that six should be upside down for just one class

@user58512 All types. OS, network, cryptography, etc.
@Krazer An upside-down six is not a number. I think you mean rotated 180 degrees. :P

wow that sound likea cool class

@Eric Is a 65% good? On my QFT final I know a 40% was an A.

9:02 PM
@user58512 It's terrible. The subject matter is okay, but the lectures are boring and the teacher skips important details.

that sucks, bad lecturer can ruin anything :(

@LoganM No, this was after it was scaled, I think.
@user58512 Yup. :|

I was looking at the sort of stuff pros have to do to get security certs...... it's absolutely rigorous

Of course. But in the jobs I'm going for security will be minimal. I'm not interested so much in it, it's just a required course.

9:04 PM
@Krazer Where can I get the drugs you're on?

@Eric the best kind

... Must be good since that wasn't an answer to "where". :P

> Cheese A 2007 British study showed 67 percent of people who ate one ounce of certain cheeses before bed reported wild, fantastical, and sometimes life-changing lucid dreams
Wut.

lol
one ounce isn't even that much..

Cheese for tonight

now that's a title, secretary of Cheese

9:35 PM
@LoganM The simulator finished. 1,486 pages linked to one loop. 5 pages linked to another. 1,540,950 pages linked to dead ends, and 456,259 linked to broken pages. Oddly, my program only calculated 1,997,211 paths out of 4mil+, so I might have to debug and rerun it.

@Eric I guess that's something I wasn't considering. Wiki probably has lots of dead end pages, but they don't get linked to very often, especially not as the first link on the page. In a random simulation you'd only need a few to have a significant effect.

@LoganM Yeah, I used the actual statistics, the pathing didn't discriminate.

what the heck it's actually working
I thought he was just being a lunatic

@user58512 Everyone knows fire can't burn in a vacuum.

9:46 PM
Hahaha

lol

The video if you are interested:

I have to getu p early tommorow :S

@user58512 any special occasion?

lectures

9:53 PM
Hey, that's every day for me!
:D

I only have them every second day because I dropped one

10:22 PM
@user58512 Y U DROP?

I realized I wasn't going to take the exam for it - and I'm swamped with work so I can use that time fr other stuff now

@user58512 oh carry on then
Some potential resources on where to watch anime legally (US and EU edition): organizationasg.kokidokom.net/2013/02/18/…

I've been really impressed with crunchy roll
had premium account now for 2 years, like $55 a year
along with 20+ currently airing shows a season, they have (had) entire shows like Galaxy Express 999, Zeta Gundam, Gintama, etc
which are free
hulu and funi streaming, not so much. with hulu plus you still get commercials and (haven't spent a lot of time with this) I can't get 1080p streaming fro mfunimation

I find it hilarious that the gif room is among the most active rooms right now in the entire network.

@Mysticial lol wut

10:35 PM
If you exclude the SO rooms.

Ah, there we go.
I was wondering how it was more active than the Election room.

@Eric Even the election room is nothing compared to the C++ room.

I'm scared. xD

The C++ room gets like 400-500 a day.
Currently has 1.5 million messages.

@Mysticial But we've had 200 messages in about a day by only 5 users. That's pretty ridiculous IMO.

10:41 PM
@LoganM yes
Wait, correction. The C++ doesn't get 400 a day. It gets 4k a day.

A small difference.

4.6k a day. 30k a week.

@Mysticial We can beat that no problem. That's only like 1000 per person per day.

Don't try to beat the C++ room. Since I do think it's probably the most active (public) room on the whole network.
I have yet to see another room that comes even close.

@Mysticial We'll do it.

11:03 PM
We're not making much progress. :(

Depends what kind of progress you mean.
If you mean progress toward March 7th, 2013, then we're moving along at expected pace.

lol

Q/D is back down to 5.7. :(

@Eric Honestly I'm more worried that our quality is dropping. Recent questions have not been over a very diverse range of anime, and some of them were borderline NC IMO.

@LoganM Yeah, we definitely need to broaden the scope of anime discussed.
We should look at our biggest tags and then intentionally avoid them.

11:13 PM
@Eric The trouble for me is, most of the stuff I want to ask about is really obscure. Questions about plot holes in VNs with fewer than 1000 sales aren't likely to get answered.

@LoganM Try one or two of them and see what happens.
I'd say leave at most two of them out in the open at a time.
If one of them happens to get answered, then ask another one.

sup folks
@LoganM Fewer than 1000 sales... as in, 1000 individual copies of the game sold or less?

@Mysticial I'll try one with one of the better series in a couple of days. I need to test the waters before I start going to games that I might be the only person outside Japan who's played them.
@ShotgunNinja How's it going?

@LoganM Good, I guess. 15 minutes until I leave for home, not enough time to actually want to attempt to do anything.

@ShotgunNinja Yup. Doujin works can easily have only a few hundred sales. In fact, most of them do, but you've very likely never heard about any of them.

11:18 PM
@LoganM Oh, doujin works, that would make sense. I've been on the other side of that, albeit only excruciatingly briefly.
Ren'Py is a hell of a software tool.

@ShotgunNinja Having played with it a bit, it's pretty amazing, though AFAIK most Japanese developers use other software.

@LoganM Oh, I'm sure. Ren'Py is a mostly English-speaking world thing anyway.

@ShotgunNinja I see you just discovered the Thrills and Spills room. It's fantastic.

It is indeed, good sir.

11:41 PM
It's too quiet in here.
LOUD NOISES!

11:55 PM
I found this doujin while looking for gifs
