@avazula :)
Morning!

Ael
7:15 AM
Morning
Also, +1 for what ava said. Thank you @cal :)
@ips cat?

Ael
What? xD

hi

8:05 AM
And where I live so far we have always had less than 10.000 daily cases of c***d-19. And anytime I check for new info of how much it was in new day I remember this and while the website loads I am staring and sternly speaking "more than 10.000 this time? come on! I dare you!" :/

8:40 AM
And 10400 new cases, c***d-19 dared to do this. :/

@Ael eheh you're welcome :)
@lila :/

3 hours later…
12:11 PM
@lila Well, over here we just spend a sh*t-ton of tax money on an investigation to tell us that a BLM protest during a corona lockdown was indeed a 'sloppy' decision :/
no sh*t sherlock...

@Tinkeringbell :/

At least now the 'it was totally okay to protest and ignore all the rules because we should make a problem of everything that happens in America' people no longer can make that excuse :D
I just haven't made up my mind if it was really worth paying taxes for it, it seems to me people had already mostly decided that anyways.

eh, here there were protests, too small to be noticed by the media though
with the pace of USA cases, we could be closer to 10 million
which is insane

This whole thing is insane.
The same people that were shouting they should be able to protest are shouting that the king was wrong departing on a planned vacation to Greece :/ I doubt they'd cancel their own vacation, after all, corona isn't real!
I'll just stay inside, covered in blankets, this winter, and spring too if it takes that long for all this blow over.

@Tinkeringbell :/
@Tinkeringbell sounds like a great plan

12:23 PM
I have some good plans at times.
I should find a way to smuggle snacks into this house that doesn't require physically going to a store and also not relies on having them delivered XD

friends?
or a PO box :P

Ael
@Tinkeringbell I usually use my little sister for this kind of things. I just tell her "you can buy stuff for yourself too with my money" and it does the trick :p

12:37 PM
@Ael My brother is the only one I could ask, but he's generally of the same mind as my mother about me eating snacks: It's bad. And I know it is, so it's probably for the best not to find a way :P
@CaldeiraG friends are unsafe rn. And I don't there are PO boxes near.

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Ah yes, that wouldn't do then. Also, I just want to point out that "snack is bad for physical health" is true, but sometimes it's good for your mental health so don't feel too much guilty for wanting to eat those. We are currently in a stressful situation, so it makes complete sense to want snacks

@Tinkeringbell I see :)

Ael
(as a matter of fact, I did eat "a lot" of snack in march of this year)

@Ael Eh, I don't think stress-eating is a healthy coping mechanism.
Either physical or mental... you're replacing one problem with another.

@Tinkeringbell Have a psychiatrist say on that, well it happens not to be (healthy)

12:45 PM
If it works for you, that's great, but I seem to remember you've always struggled a bit with eating ;)

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Ah yes, it's not a healthy coping mechanism, but in case of "emergency", as a "short-term solution", it would to the trick. But yes, if you keep feeling like stress eating for several days in a row and you believe that it will still be this way for several days/weeks, you should definitively try to find another coping mechanism

@Ael Most of me wanting snacks is just me wanting snacks. I don't think there's much stress or boredom involved: I can be superbusy doing something superrelaxing like crochet and want snacks.
I'm just weird XD

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Could it be the chewing part that you like? I know that sometimes I feel the urge to eat just because I want to bite something

@Ael Nah. Chewing gum does nothing.

I used to eat a lot out of boredom. I still got the habit of walking in the kitchen sometimes, but I refrain it and mostly eat out of hunger now

Ael
12:53 PM
@Tinkeringbell In any case, for most people, there is always a reason why there body wants something. And knowing the why usually helps replacing that thing by something else. This to say, I don't think you are "weird", you might just don't know why you want some things

Hmm. I am taking a vitamin supplement and whatever mom usually cooks isn't unhealthy either, so I don't think I'm lacking anything...

snacks are mostly a question of pleasure IMHO

Meh, like I said, I could already be doing pleasurable things too. It's not that either I think, or I'd be wanting snacks a lot more consistently at certain moments and not others.
It's okay though. The whole snack thing was a joke, we might be taking this a tad too serious XD

^^

Ael
@Tinkeringbell That's the risk you take when talking about food with French people :p

12:57 PM
Hahaha
Well if we're talking food, let's talk about good things ;) Mom actually made a nice lunch, a small baguette with lettuce, some kind of yoghurtdressing, smoked chicken and apple slices :D
I forgot to take a picture, but it looked really nice too.
Much better than bread with sprinkles ;)

Ael
Was it some kind of sandwich?

we ate at a restaurant, invited by my boss. I ate a bit too much
but at least it was vegetarian and good
It was actually a constraint. I would have killed for a salad this lunch but couldn't really pass on being invited by the boss

Ael
I'm sorry to hear that. I must say, I don't like having to eat at a restaurant so I wouldn't have like this situation either

@Ael Yep!

@Ael When I became vegetarian I also started to like restaurants a lot less...
I really love salad bars tho but that's not traditional stuff

Ael
1:05 PM
@Tinkeringbell That must have been nice. I do like sandwiches, though I often find them disappointing when I actually eat them. It's like I like the idea of a sandwich better than the actual sandwich

Depends on the sandwich, I guess. This one is one of my favorites. I tried finding a picture but couldn't :(

Ael
@ArthurHv Ah yes, that's one of the two big reason why I don't like restaurant anymore (the other one being that sometimes I am exausted and would rather eat in 15 minutes instead of a 1h)
@Tinkeringbell Do you often eat sandwich at home? I must say, in my family (and in France in general), sandwich are for picnic and picnic only
(Unless they are burgers)

@Ael Usually, 'real' sandwiches are for things like work lunches or special things like picnics, yes.
The one I had for lunch was something like this:
Those are a bit more 'usual', from time to time mom makes them at home, you can buy them at the train station or the work cafeteria.

Ael
Ah yes, with that much things inside, it wouldn't really be convinent for an outside lunch (and honestly, it doesn't really look convinente for an inside lunch either x) )

A really 'plain' lunch would be sliced bread with sliced meat, cheese, sprinkles, or basically anything else ;)
@Ael Eh, if you put the top on straight and squeeze a little, (almost) nothing will fall out ;)

1:13 PM
bread with sprinkles sound so much foreign to me. You really mean these ? d1f7geppf3ca7.cloudfront.net/origin/408882/… I think I never saw that outside of some cakes and doughnuts

@ArthurHv mostly chocolate ones, but yes :)

Ael
@Tinkeringbell I'm sorry, you put chocolate in your sandwich? Oo

@Ael Eh, not in a sandwich, just on sliced bread ;)
Chocolate sprinkles, chocolate paste, nutella...
Peanut butter + sprinkles.

that's clearly very un-French

Ael
Oh right, so you don't mix meat and cheese with this chocolat, right?

1:16 PM
@Ael Usually not, no :P

Ael
That's a relief, you scared me for a minute here :p

We do put cheese or meat or cheese and meat on sliced bread from time to time as well, but I've personally never done so in combination with chocolate :P
@Ael I think cheese and chocolate might work...

@Tinkeringbell +1 on peanut butter

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Probably. But meat and chocolat? I mean, I shouldn't judge if someone did that, but I definitively would :p

@Ael Hahaha same here :D

Ael
1:19 PM
Also, why use sprinkles? That doesn't seem very convinente

Butter, then sprinkles. They'll stick :)

just got to check my bank records and got 5€ off a savings account :D

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Ah yes, that makes sense

I'm not sure where the whole sprinkles thing came from, but it's easier to get the last sprinkles out of a carton than having to scrape all the chocolate paste out of a jar...

Ael
Well, you could use several chocolate squares instead of the sprinkles
And with the chocolat square, you wouldn't really need the butter

1:21 PM
@Ael We have a thing called 'kokosbrood'
They're basically slices of coconut stuff. To put on bread.
Something similar in chocolate form has never been made, congrats. Go start it and you're rich :D

why is it pink ?

@ArthurHv I think when it came out, there was also a cocoa flavored one, and it was to make distinguishing easier.

oh ok

Oh it still exists!

Ael
@Tinkeringbell I didn't invent anything, I was talking about this:

1:24 PM
But as you see, it has 'white' swirls. So they added the pink to the 'regular' ones so you wouldn't confuse a huge white spot in a chocolate package for the regular kokosbrood, I think.

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Well, this doesn't look like something I would want to eat ^^ (it's pink)

@Ael Ah, but those are a bit thick for putting on bread. Takes a lot of biting to get through :P
@Ael I don't like it either, it's dry and tastes of coconut :P

@Tinkeringbell ideally you slice your baguette open, stuff a row or two, close the baguette and bite and chew

Ael
@Tinkeringbell That's a second good point since I don't really like coconut either :p

@ArthurHv Ehh, I still would have trouble biting through I think.

Ael
1:26 PM
@Tinkeringbell In France, there are some thiner version of it
Like, most of the chocolat are actualy the thiner version compare to this picture

Ah, well... maybe then :D
I'll keep an eye out if we ever go to France again, buy a bar or two, and let you know ;)

this is kind of a traditional gouter we used to have as kids
idk whats the translation, 4pm meal as kid

Afternoon snack?

yea, probably
it's especially unexpensive, and I think a reason why we were so many to do that

Ael
@Tinkeringbell If you do, I would advice for the Lindt brand (it's the "best" one):

1:29 PM
Ooh, the one with orange looks tasty!

@Ael These ones I'd eat without bread though

+2535 new cases today, highest number so far (again); cc @lila

Ael
@ArthurHv Oh yeah, good chocolat don't need bread. You just add it when you don't want to eat too much chocolat :p
@Tinkeringbell Isn't chocolat with orange a reguar think in your country?

On the top of a coffe or tea they do wonders

Yep, we have orangette's :D
These are soooo good.

Ael
1:33 PM
@Tinkeringbell I was gonna say that "orangette" are delicious (but they do tend to be "costy") but your orangette have a weird shape Oo (like slugs x) )

I make orangettes for Christmas
It's one of the nice things about Christmas hehehe

@Ael They absolute taste nothing like escargot though!

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Ah yes, I do hope so :p But French orangette are usually longuer and thiner:

@avazula We usually buy these around Christmas as well!
@Ael Oooh that looks super good as well!

Ael
@Tinkeringbell I would buy them all year long if they weren't so overpriced :'(

1:36 PM
You could probably cook your own orangette quite simply. Isn't it just orange zest dipped in chocolate ?

Ael
@ArthurHv I don't even cook pasta so I'm not cooking to make orangette myself ^^ But yes, they are relatively simple to make

@Ael Next time I come and visit you I'll bring you some :p

@CaldeiraG It's sad :( whole world is getting hit hard by the second wave of the cockroach, I'm so tired of this pandemic of microscopic cockroach because I'm extremely drained by remote mode of life.

@lila :(
i see so much chocolate here XD
@IPSCommentBot would you mind sending in a cat?

@Ael hehehe

Q: Dealing with neighbours of unruly character

Aravind SureshWe have new neighbours in our building. That itself (moving houses) is a "highly unrecommended" thing in India where COVID-19 is loose. Some things about them: They tell us that there are just two people in the house, two young women who work as IT professionals. And yet, we see at least three-f...

2:21 PM
In my site of origin I've just read a joke in the comments in question about cat that stopped using litter box:
It says that someone supposedly cleaned the litter box of his friend's cat for a week straight as soon as the cat did his business. After a week, the man put his own human-sized feces on the litter box, making the owner think that cat held it for a week and then took a massive dump :D
If you think that this is disgusting then tell me and I will delete it from this chat.

2:38 PM
so weird lol

It is weird yes, but resonates with my sense of humor :D

3:07 PM
@ExtrovertedMainMan Okay I apparently forgot how to do tags, but this one could use eyes because it's a 'what should I do', and it's not even focusing on the person itself as much as making others do something.

oop, seems like I forgot as well

no ?s

Thanks Mith :)

:)

But I did and it didn't work....
Ugggh.
Must have been on my end then, that it just didn't render.
Oh no wait, I also had a ?
Thanks Mith! :D

3:20 PM
:)

4:18 PM
One seconds please, is it actually possible to add tags to question via chat?!!!

Ael
4:37 PM
@lila No ^^
But you can write stuff in the "tag" style in chat

3 hours later…
7:25 PM
@Ael Oh okay thanks -.^

Q: Search changes for anonymous users

Nick CraverWe wanted to share some of what's been happening on the network lately behind the scenes. We do our best to keep fires from being visible but that's not always possible and when it happens my goal is to be as open as possible. In short, we've enabled captchas for anonymous users when they search Q&...

Interesting stuff :)
@lila Hey, you should totally check out our :D
^ You can link people to questions that are tagged with a specific tag, for example. Click the tag ;)
Though I've... never actually seen it used for that, it's only ever used for fun XD

@Tinkeringbell Haha I know, I guess it's convenient? But in my limited imagination I cannot imagine how would I ever need to use this in practice :D
@Tinkeringbell And yes exactly what I also think about this.

@lila Yeah, I guess it only works for 'small tags', if you want to tell someone "Hey, your answer might be there already". Or, if you e.g. get an expert on Pets in some very exotic animal, you can let them see there's a tag for it and perhaps there's unanswered questions or interesting things or something...
I know on SO tag descriptions can be very big too, so perhaps they're using it to go say 'read the tag description' XD

@Tinkeringbell Okay I think I get it, hey you should totally check out our small exotic tag <<< CLICK THE TAG PLS [SEE PHOTOS!]

...o_o

7:58 PM
@lila See! Fast learner ;)
I'm off to bed. Gnight!

@Tinkeringbell Sleepy sleepy good night ^.^
@Tinkeringbell See! Fast sleeper!
