No, not unique, but I think it's definitely relevant that it's a more Middle-Eastern culture rather than, for instance, in the US. I'm getting an impression of your father being a rigid sort of traditional guy, while your brother is more "modern". That's sort of a culture clash, and I think the base culture here is very relevant.

CVs without comments are going to be way more common, especially if close voters are a bit jaded and don't feel like arguing with the OPs (which does end up with the OP yelling most of the time, BTW). HOWEVER, it'd usually be because of that, so I find it very odd that they didn't comment on a question from a 7k'er.

Thirdly, I'm making an educated guess, based on firstly and secondly, that it's groupthink. Fourthly, my guess is reinforced by the fact that it only takes, what, 1k to close vote?

@avazula when chemicals are dangerous, it's because they'd react fast, with skin too. So strong acids, strong bases (like lye), strong reducing or oxidizing agents (things that can explode, hydrogen peroxide, lots of strong acids and bases again), strong acids, strong bases . . .
