No, not unique, but I think it's definitely relevant that it's a more Middle-Eastern culture rather than, for instance, in the US. I'm getting an impression of your father being a rigid sort of traditional guy, while your brother is more "modern". That's sort of a culture clash, and I think the base culture here is very relevant.

HOWEVER, it'd usually be because of that, so I find it very odd that they didn't comment on a question from a 7k'er.

Yeah, my issue isn't so much with the question being closed (though in my opinion it shouldn't be). I more have an issue with it being closed (3 of the votes coming from high rep users) without a single person downvoting or offering an explanation of what it could improve on

@avazula when chemicals are dangerous, it's because they'd react fast, with skin too. So strong acids, strong bases (like lye), strong reducing or oxidizing agents (things that can explode, hydrogen peroxide, lots of strong acids and bases again), strong acids, strong bases . . .

Acids are so cool.
