I agree with @Mithrandir, we should downvote and delete VLQ. That's what the flags are for, that's how the site is supposed to work

Unpopular opinion: You need a lot of downvotes to compensate for 1 upvote. I personally don't like seeing people earning their reputation like that, they'll get privileges and stil have no idea how the site works/is supposed to work....

I would put together a list of common problems and hurdles that you think he might face, then ask him about how he plans to overcome them. Word the questions so that you are assuming that he is prepared and you want to know how, rather than asking if he's prepared. If he answers the questions...

I can easily imagine that a Japanese answer would differ greatly in respecting the other person from an American answer.

To expand on my previous (admittedly terse) comment, the answers to this question will, I suspect, differ greatly depending on the level of respect that is inherent in each culture. I've unprotected some selected questions (actually a lot). Most were protected by myself in the first place. My condition was "views < 10k" and "answers < 10" and "protected by non-CMs". Let's just see what happens to these. In any case, we have a ton of users now who can instantly re-protect them if the need arises. So no harm, I suppose. Calculated risks. @Catija

I will. It's not an IPS answer and doesn't respect the OP's request (we have a meta on that, oh joy!)... We do allow frame challenges, I still need to write a meta on what we expect of a good frame challenge (like the one they have on roleplaying)...

But I think this isn't really an answer to the question of 'how do I talk to the gift-giver', especially not after it became clear that there WERE rules on how much you should gift and they essentially broke the rules

Honestly I don't care. That was the last straw in a long series of disappointing experiences I've had on this site--if I hadn't already marked my account for deletion, I wouldn't have made the comments; I realize the last bunch were contrary to the site. The first bunch were not.

A good chunk of me was hoping to get banned so I wouldn't have to wait out the bizarre 24 hour wait period to delete a site.
