In Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith, did Obi-Wan Kenobi and Senator Bail Organa kidnap Luke and Leia Skywalker after their mother had died during childbirth?
From a legal standpoint, the children should have been given to Padmé Amidala's parents if they were still alive on Naboo at that t...
All I remember is two girls reincarnate to another world together one was supposed to get reincarnated while the other was supposed to die but rock spirits really liked her so they begged the god to reincarnate her as well. The one who is supposed to be reincarnated gets married to a prince while...
When I was a kid I remember watching a TV movie. It was an old house and a group of kids were playing around. It was something like a backyard and this big old house. Some of the kids went inside to find out there was a girl dead for years or decades and maybe a skull or something was there to se...
When I was a kid I remember seeing a TV Series or Movie where a little kid was escaping from a psycho or some evil guy and going into these concrete tunnels and they were trying to catch him, maybe a 1970s series, I cannot find the scene !!!
In the first Men in Black movie, the Men in Black have a screening process to weed out potential problem agents, but in the first sequel J's partner T is clearly an idiot who doesn't know better than to provoke dangerous aliens (like 'Jeff', a large alien who lives under New York city)- how did s...
I was introduced to this book at the same time as The Elenium, in the early 2000s.
The sister had a large stutter at the beginning of the book. Brother is a lumberjack or something similar, has a lame knee and a finger that was cut and has healed with the excess skin folded over the nub. Sister's...
I saw a video for this series the other day and cannot find it again, it apparently starts with a guy waking up on some space station, the only person alive there, long since abandoned. What had apparently lead to this was way back humans found aliens and the aliens were like “hey we’re all cool ...
This is the summary of a short story.
There's a man who's some kind of freedom fighter on an alien planet. He takes pity on a slave girl and releases her from bondage. He almost makes it to safety with her, when her "owners" show up and inform him that he has made a wasted effort as all their sla...
I don't have much more information than that only that I'm almost certain I read it before 1984, it was a library book and very possibly YA sci-fi, whatever that was called then. Thank you.
...but this one is pretty vague, for me, I apologize in advance.
All I remember is the following:
Read it on a tablet, very possibly via kindle or whatever Apple's version of that was
Could have been short story, novel, novella... anything. I don't think I finished it but I DO feel like it was p...
I read a book once about radio contact with alien civilization. They send questionare to be filled by all human and based on the answer chose a person to rise an alien kids on Earth. Created from dna information they sent. What was the title and author o it?
I want a book about intelligences that are very hard for humans to relate to.
An example might help:
A species that grew up as prey and so they are always hiding.
Hiding hiding all the time.
They live around other species staying out of sight.
They are quick to abandon everything to escape anyth...
@Donald.McLean That's not true at all. "Urban fantasy" requires the story be bound to the urban environment. Either the city almost has to be a secondary character or the story has to be bound up with elements of the urban fabric (e.g. the Underground).
There are lots of stories that are set in the modern world that are not urban fantasy. Like American Gods, or Friedman's Dreamwalker trilogy.
@AncientSwordRage I hear you, but I don't really want to mute them either.
FWIW, last night I read Moon Over Soho (Rivers 2) and Artificial Condition (Murderbot 2) and I'm definitely preferring the latter. I had to force myself to finish Moon; the story isn't nearly as interesting/engaging as the first, while I've already bought the 3rd Murderbot ebook.
Tonight I have some two-days deferred chores to do, so I'll have to wait and read Rogue Protocol at the weekend.
The conclusion of Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6 is defined: Why did Obi-Wan leave Darth Vader unpunished? We know he is willing to kill people, because we saw him kill Stormtroopers during his escapes.
The episode featured a confrontation between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker, where Obi-Wan had the cha...
I read this in the 90s. Probably older, probably a short story.
The main character was the captain and sole crew-member of a starship delivering a cargo of colonists in suspended animation to a remote planet. On the way he decided to amuse himself by (illegally) waking one of the passengers.
He h...
The conclusion of Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6 is defined: Why did Obi-Wan leave Darth Vader unpunished?
The episode featured a confrontation between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker, where Obi-Wan had the chance to take Darth prisoner, to make him pay for what he did to the Jedis and protect human lives...
I'm looking to see if there is any book that talks about adventures and struggles of an asteroid Miner or someone who works in "blue collar" jobs from their perspective.
Almost like a memoir? How they got to space, the struggles, adjustments to gravity, losses, etc.
@Matt Does the Alien franchise count, they were all freight hauliers? Silent Runnings - the tale of a gardener in a space-habitat. Masters of the Vortex - a pest exterminator. The Hole in the Zero - a security guard and some tourists. There are plenty with miners in, but not one that features them which comes to mind at present.
I remember watching the anime and the story was okay i guess but i couldn't get the opening song out of my head. I remember the opening had the word freedom in it. The anime started with this girl who is a hacker she wore neon green and black with cat ear headphones. Then the perspective changed ...
I read it about 2013-14, and it was a hardback book with two robots and a kid on a ‘skateboard’ that could fly. Printed in english with no illustrations I can remember inside the book.
Things I remember
there was this thing called “Maker’s Sight” that the main character and his dad had, but his ...
After watching the Obi Wan Kenobi series finale, after all the emotional turmoil that it caused, I was writing a review and realized I don't know the name of the planet where
Is there any information on it? I only did a quick google search but came up empty. Is there a source or something where ...
I read this about 15 years back, I think. I think I have the details right, but it's been a while.
It's definitely set in the far future; it feels like it would fit in neatly with Jack McDevitt's Alex Benedict novels, but I don't think it's one of them.
The storyline, as I remember it, involved a...
Last story in a book of short stories. Written by a man, other stories were by different authors.
All human life on Earth had died off. An alien race with the ability to bring the entire human race back to life, brings one female human back to life to fight for humanity. Trouble is she's not so f...
@DavidW Like all hard edged genre definitions, that suffers from many unfortunate cases of not everyone paying attention to that particular definition.
Which is part of why I prefer "modern fantasy" - it doesn't sound stupid and it encompasses all of the stuff that has been labelled "urban fantasy" and not necessarily actually being set in an urban environment.
@DavidW Writing style can affect people at such a random and personal level. Some of my favorite books are widely ridiculed or even reviled for various reasons. And stuff which is supposedly "Great!!!!" makes me want to puke.
For some reason, my connection to this chat room keeps dropping, so I am not always getting the alerts that I should.
The manhwa is new but is about a boy who knows martial arts, but in the time period he lives in, magicians are better. He went to a dungeon and found like a eye, and then he fought a person in a dungeon, and then he went to the past and applied to be magician. Also, another thing I remember is th...
