Q: Does it hurt to go through time travel?

Wanting AnswersAt the beginning of the movie, we see Kyle Reese come out of the time warp and apparently, he is in a bit of pain. Was he in pain from the fall or is the transportation portal actually painful to go through? Bonus: Or was this foreshadowing that he was actually somewhat injured prior to escapin...

Q: Why does it take the T-800 so long to find a car to transport itself to the gun store?

Wanting AnswersThe Terminator is seen to break into a car as daylight comes about. Thing is, was it up all night at the Observatory and if so, what was it doing? It probably would have had an easier time and earlier start to seek out the Sarah Connors when it was still dark out. It may have been able to even ge...

Q: Story about a future with races

CharlesI read a story in the 1980's (before 1984) about a future where race (black, white, etc.) had disappeared and for some reason "they" were attempting to bring back the races. The main character was a white boy. At the beginning of the story he meets a girl of another race that is also part of the ...

Q: Why does Skynet equip its units with laser like weaponry?

Wanting AnswersAssuming it was fighting humans and bullets would do, why go out of its way to produce laser like weapons? I would be expecting the Resistance to have more of those kind of weapons because they would be able to penetrate any metal Terminator (assuming T-1000s) were not in use yet.

0
Q: How were the Resistance able to survive in the future, up until Reese's timeline?

Wanting AnswersAssuming Skynet was starting to update units, (T-800) being the latest in technology, how were they not all equipped with Infrared and thermal imaging CPUs? You would think advanced machines would be able to stake out any human anywhere at that point.

Q: Can the T-1000 see in night vision?

Wanting AnswersApparently, when it was in the cop compound, it was able to turn off the lights and pretty much nail every cop on first shot. Pretty neat that the T-800 series could see in night vision, probably something that Kyle Reese should have mentioned!

0
Q: Why would the T-800 go back to the hotel just to retrieve Sarah Connor's address book?

Wanting AnswersYou would think the T-800 would stay on pursuit. They make the thing seem so human like in the movie. Machines would never stop to break into a car or go to a hotel. They would just keep pursuing with anything on them that could lead them to their target right?

DeanLooking for SciFi Movie like The Hidden. This movie is more campy, not as intense. The alien takes on the form I believe, of it’s last subject to have come in contact with.

Was this question voted to be deleted or was it roombaed?
@Marvin extremely broad
I've voted this as a duplicate because this question has a bit more detail than the other (the answers are kind of a weird loop, though). — Stormblessed 1 min ago

Q: What is the name of Peggy's husband in Captain America: Winter Soldier?

yarpyarpI'm having a hard time hearing the name of Peggy's husband she names. I'm not the greatest at spelling but it sounds like his name is something like: Emanhu Winter? Here's the scene if anyone can help, he's named at 1:40, thanks:

Q: Is Dumbledore a human lie detector?

LevenTrekWe know that Voldemort possesses a mind-reading ability called "legilimency". He uses this power to invade the minds of his victims. Existing questions (like this one) ask if Dumbledore can use legilimency. But there's plenty of evidence that he can't. There are various times when another charact...

@Stormblessed Hmm, tempted to hammer that one back open.
I think I'll at least unroomba it, give people another chance to VTRO.

@Randal'Thor if a mod unroombas, can it be Roombaed again?
Also note that while it's been the cause of meta attention, I don't think it's been sent to reopen queue once yet... Just saying.

@Jenayah Yes.
Ask Mith about some of his battles with the roomba on Lit ;-)
@Jenayah True ... still not really too broad though.

Q: How does Skynet get its supplies to make Terminators?

Wanting AnswersThroughout the movies, we see that there are TONS of models that are manufactured by Skynet and so one would have to wonder where all this metal material is obtained from. The backstory may be that Skynet was an assembly line factory, like a car factory, where all it made were robots (the U.S.'...

Weird how the superping doesn't work right in the starred bar but it does in a quote

Q: Book where there was only one race

Tracy CramerI remember reading a story once where we had all interbred such that there were no longer any blacks, whites, Asians, etc. We were all 'brown'. Somehow they 'found' 5 children that were purebred 'races', and I don't remember much else.

Funny how I got this closed as a dupe of a question which was answered based on the answer to it

1:56 PM
@Valorum That strikes me as an overly literal and pedantic reading of the question. What the OP wants to know is where to find the quote, which we can help them with by saying e.g. "it's about halfway through Chapter 7 of Book 6, just after this and before that". — Rand al'Thor ♦ May 31 at 6:58
@Stormblessed Might wanna suggest @FuzzyBoots to rephrase his answers based on the direction of the dupe.
(Or reverse said direction with his gold badge hammer, if he really wants to.)
@Stormblessed I can edit the superping to a normal ping for the star-board once he's seen it ;-)

@Randal'Thor But the user still specifically says they want the page number, not the chapter, so I think it's Too Broad
Hey there's a weird glitch

@Stormblessed But look at the intent of the question. What they want to know is where to find that quote, and this is something we can help them with.
I thought I was the pedant around here :-P

The button to view the queues never turns red if just Close Votes has stuff to review
It happens on Politics, too
@Randal'Thor Seems to me like the intent of the question is to find a number to put in a citation or something
Like MLA in-text citations are (Tolkien, 452).
And the title is about page numbers

@Stormblessed IIRC, that depends on some sort of average/expected figure for how many items are usually in a queue.
Like if one of the queues has "more than usual", the button will go red.
@Stormblessed Easy enough to edit ...

Yeah, if you think the reviews only exist when the dot goes red, you're wrong :P

2:05 PM
So the dot is a useless indicator of nothing?
That is very strange
It looks like it'd be like the inbox and would turn red whenever there was anything

No, it doesn't work like that.

Well if your goal is to catch reviews, you're better off having a Review tab opened and refreshing it once in a while, or editing review URLs.

I guess you can find the details on main meta.
(Although that also applies to a lot of the other things you ask in here.)
@Jenayah Well if your goal is to catch reviews, you're doing it wrong. <---- ftfy

?

2:09 PM
If he wants to make review actions in addition to moderating the site otherwise (edits, flags, close votes, reopen, etc), how's he supposed to do that outside of review tab?
(except for suggested edits which do show up on the post that's being edited)

My point is that "catching reviews" is a bad goal to have, per se, especially if you're doing unusual things like URL hacking just to achieve that goal.

Some people here are way too fanatic about their reviews.

Q: Could the filmmakers have had Mira Nova be in Toy Story 4 as Woody’s NEW girlfriend?

Alex DownsBuzz got together with the girl toy from Woody’s show, so it’s only fair that Woody gets together with the girl toy from Buzz’s show. ThunderforgeReplicants in the Blade Runner universe are synthetically designed by the Tyrell Corporation (and Wallace Corporation by the time of Blade Runner 2049). @Jenayah got a ping from you re Dune but don't remember why? I was trying to get someone a link to a fan edit on YouTube but can't figure out who. Not doing well am I???

@Randal'Thor And yet noone felt the urge to accompany all those comment arguments with an edit that cements these points.
You can tell people that they're reading the question "wrong" all the livelong day, but showing them usually goes a more fruitful step further into that direction.
