Q: How are appendices included in three-volume Lord of the Rings editions?

William GrobmanI used to own a single volume trade paperback Lord of the Rings edition that had appendices at the end which were useful for keeping timelines straight and providing enjoyable additional material. I'm considering purchasing a three-volume hardback edition illustrated by Alan Lee to replace my lo...

10:31 PM
@Marvin As an additional book. One that's...actually not included when buying it as a box and that the uninitiated only learn later would be a good idea to get too. ;-(
Though, it seems the English publishers weren't as stupid.

If anyone has a better idea than I had for renaming (cc @TheLethalCarrot @SQB)

Q: How can Rex take multiple hits from blaster bolts?

DragonChampion7In season 3 episode 6, Rex is shown taking multiple hits one to his shoulder, and one to his helmet. In The Clone Wars tv show, when a clone trooper is shot, they go down. Even if they are just wounded and not dead, we definitely don’t see any troopers getting shot in the head and getting r...

Q: Name of book about six trapped beings, brains linked to control a factory, they escape

Mike GaleA while ago I read a book about 6, whole body, beings, captured and enslaved to be the brains that ran a factory. Each a different species, I think. They were linked in a ring structure by neural tissue coming out of each side of their heads and floated in a nutrient tank. The structure was ca...

<yawn> So another tag discussion on meta then?
I hope you're not just asking TheLethalCarrot and SQB for ideas for ridiculous meta question titles. ;-P

Don't know if there's an absolute need for meta right now
@NapoleonWilson not for question titles, tag renaming
or stuff

I vote for stuff.
Though, I wouldn't be surprised if that's already used. ;-)

10:46 PM

nope it isn't

> What everything is made of.
I already got an excellent excerpt idea.

@Jenayah I think the name is right I think the wording of the flag was tha main problem. If you’re not sure and you’re requesting a mod isn’t going to be sure

sure not complaining about the flag being declined, just asking for feedback about th enames

@Jenayah Is this one of those jokes you have to be able to see deleted posts to enjoy? (Sigh - only 4508 to go)

Q: What did the Engineer say to David?

Islam WazeryIs it known from any trusted source what the Engineer was saying here? David was clearly saying "I told him he want to live forever".

@Jenayah Ah! Merci!

De rien ;D

11:21 PM
@RDFozz They say the last 4,508 is the hardest.

@Alex LOL!

@Alex talk about a coincidence.

@Jenayah Tomorrow it might be the last 4,362 that's the hardest.
And perhaps the last 33 answers are the hardest.

Oh, these numbers are always fluctuating.

To share "thoughts from my twisted mind": So, Alex's comment made me think of the song lyric, "The first cut is the deepest." Which seems weird, because according to all the police procedural type shows I watch, the first cuts are the most likely to have hesitation marks, which I think would make them more shallow.

If it weren't for that one letter you could almost say it's a stock exchange.

Then, I'm just ignoring the point of the poetry.

I was actually thinking of Holes.
@RDFozz I apparently have a twisted mind too:
Oct 24 at 15:56, by Jenayah
@Alex you do have particularly twisted questions sometimes though :p

@Jenayah "I'll trade you my photo of a happy family in their backyard for your photo of a businessman hailing a taxi."
^ Exchanging stock photos
^^Just to ruin the joke by explaining it.
@Alex At least you aren't posting 50 questions about how you think characters in Shrek are related to miscellaneous fairy tale characters, or each other, based on your own headcanon.

@RDFozz Have you done that?

@Alex Ah, no. That comment was borderline Not Nice. The guy who seems to be doing that uses a screenname that starts with Alex.
@Alex Actually, I've only posted one question here, about a book I read in the early 1980s whose name I had forgotten.

Q: Series about being that could change sex and age - "The Morph*"

RDFozzI'm trying to remember information about a series of three books I read in the early 1980's (first book could have been published in the 1970's). The book featured a character who was a scientific creation of some sort. It was (initially, I believe) an assassin, and had the ultimate getaway schem...

11:31 PM
gotta agree that some of these questions are just a big fat WTF
although there are some on-topic and relatively interesting ones sometimes!

@RDFozz There are about 50 users here just with the name Alex.

@Jenayah Part of the oddity, to me, is the on-going nature of the questions, in spite of the relatively negative response he's gotten.

aye
same here
