3:01 PM
@Mithrandir, sorry did not realize that voicing an opinion to someone that does not want to hear it is offensive behavior? And where is the place to be discussing it? Main Meta? Sorry, I have no privileges there. Oh wait, this site is all fore expressing ones opinion.... But yet I can't express it, even on chat. Yes, every word you guys post just proves my point, thanks.

@KyloRen in order not to blank you (which wouldn't be very nice): as @Mith said this is getting a bit off-topic, not that there's really a "topic" in TREU but discussing this kind of stuff shouldn't just be limited to the ~6 of us as it's about a bigger scale. I'm not sure anyone can do much about your question ban on Main Meta but the usual applies, you can probably ask a mod/CM there to review it, so that you can word your concerns into a new Meta post.
damn you guys type way faster than I do today

Scifi chat is not for passive-aggressive soapboxing about your persecution complex.
I expect the topic to be dropped for the time being.

And I don't think Mith (or anyone, for that matter) was saying your behavior was offensive, just that people expressed a will not to pursue the discussion further and nudged others into changing the topic

SQB
@doppelgreener thanks. I was still catching up.

@SQB I may trash the conversation back about an hour. Does that seem reasonable?

SQB
3:10 PM
Hm. Not sure if that's needed.

Ok. đź‘Ť

SQB
Nothing bad was said, just one of the participants wouldn't knock it off when told to.

3:21 PM
OK, this is my last comment on this, but I have to wonder why I am kicked for having a discussion? Is talking and disagreeing about about a topic calmly and nicely considered grounds for an offense? If so, I am so much more justified with what I have being saying. Like I said before, mods hold different people to different standards and that is my opinion not an accusation. Told to drop it and you should do it or risk the repercussions no matter how nicely you are being. Sounds like Main Meta.

You were kicked being kicked for not dropping the topic, and for escalating this into rudeness when moving on was requested.
The kick now is for continuing to complain about main meta, which is still not dropping the topic. Please take a break. You can come back in half an hour.

@AnkitSharma Done
@Jenayah You writing the excerpt for that?

@TheLethalCarrot sec

Just checking so I don't waste my time... I'd have thrown together a quick one but support call...

Planning to, but gotta argue with school officer not wanting to pay my advance back

3:27 PM
Ah the fun

I mean go for it if you have it it's not a big deal

Done a real basic one

:/
...have I ever mentioned how much I dislike kicking / suspending people? Unfortunately... it's sometimes necessary. I'd really like it if people could avoid running into situations like that... *sigh*

It's a really helpful tool but shouldn't be overused certainly

I agree

3:34 PM
"yeah, we're only giving you a third back because you took a first class"
"First class was cheaper than second class (which you reimburse fully), and I provided you a screenshot."
"Yeah, but on your screenshot there was a much cheaper ticket. That's the one we're paying back because you could have taken this one instead."
"That's not how you were doing it for the past three years, and besides, that ticket was a completely different schedule, non-modificable, non-reimbursable ticket, and the train had a MUCH different route, with a connection in Paris instead of the direct one I took."
Geez, guess who's not getting her money back.
To think I spent all those hours in the train to promote the school... sheesh

welp that sucks for you

It'd probably be a shame if I were to provide her the matter-of-fact, signed-by-headmaster school text regarding she's plain wrong... Oh woops, my finger clicked the "send" button...

Q: What happened to the wreckages of Battlestars from the First Cylon War?

Raymond LeoneIn Blood and Chrome, we see the wreckage of the Battlestar Archeron, and in Razor we see the Battlestar Columbia explode into relatively large Pieces, so much so that people are actually alive for a short time in one of the chunks of hull. So what happens to the wreckage of Battlestars after a ...

I mean it is the same school who made us study a three-day course on law texts and legal precedents (remember, I study programming) because "it might be a part of what you do in your future and it's important to know how to do it blahblahblah"
so y'know
backlash FTW :)

3:46 PM
@TheLethalCarrot great

I know it's a ferret with a hat but am I the only one who always sees (in the small avatar) a ferret putting on a (way too big) hat with its two tiny arms?

I always see the cat in the hat

Greetings, Earthlings.

It's a cat?!
@Donald.McLean Greetings, Hubble guy!

no, it's a ferret

3:51 PM
I know it is a ferret I just see Cat in the Hat:

seriously though the curvy cheeks look like tiny bent arms from a distance
no idea what this is, and not sure I want to know

For all I know it might be a play on that
It's a children's book I think you'll be fine haha

The Ferret in the Hat: a novel by AncientSwordRage, available from bookstores near you

@Jenayah omg, i see it
we see its torso and its little arms reaching up either side of its tiny head

Aye it's those neck markings that do it

3:54 PM
@doppelgreener can't unsee now :D

Dr Seuss is probably one of the most beloved American children's book authors of all time. I'm not sure how well his stuff would translate though.

Badly.
It's a struggle to read them.

Ah well, you all have a great day.

Be excellent to each other.

Live long and prosper

They fixed it again... assuming it works

Was something not working?
Anyway, the size appendages still seem to be broken.

Well fixed as in...

Q: How did Norris get infected with the alien in the movie "The Thing"?

Ben MadisonHow did Norris get infected, or is the movie "not clear"? Also could it be a plot device to ratchet up the tension between the characters in an already volatile situation that blows up? 5:07 PM
@Marvin Though, I struggle to remember who specifically Norris actually is (and why his infection is more unclear than other people's).
Was it the young black guy on rollerblades?
Wait, no, that's Nauls.
Ah, it's the guy who's chest eats Dr. Copper's arms.

where is Wad when you need him!?

He first ought to answer my Dark Tower questions anyway.

Q: Who gets infected first in John Carpenter's The Thing?

PraxisAmongst the Americans in John Carpenter's The Thing, who was the first to get infected?

dupe?
I meant not dupe in title but accepted answer is kind of thorough in asnwering both questions of the new one (am I making sense?)

By SciFi standards? Probably. I'm sure Norris is deep down in one of those answers, too.

@NapoleonWilson he's theoricized, yes

5:26 PM
Who wasn't terrorized by that thing?

Tension is raised with maestria
To be fair though (only speaking for myself though!) I'm not one to be terrorized by most of whatever happens on a screen. That doesn't make the film less of a masterpiece, mind you

I was talking about the characters anway, since you said Norris was.

?
I said his infection timeline was theoricized in the answers to the older question
not that he was terrorized

The characters were terrorized by the thing.
@Jenayah I know, don't worry. ;-)

Crap, I checked and it's spelled "theorized"

5:34 PM
Heh, that would have fit even better.

@NapoleonWilson hey, sure. Who wouldn't in their situation

'nneed.

(... actually I can think of "that weird friend of mine" who'd try to pet the critter.)

I wouldn't even pet the dogs before their transformation. ;-)

Dogs were made to be petted!

5:36 PM
Meh.

(yes, I know I'll loose a hand to a rottweiler someday with this kind of thinking)

Science fiction characters have some great pets. I just finished reading a story where the main character had a lizard-like animal that exhibited dog-like behavior. They called him "dogzard"

lol

Of course, there's Nimitz, the treecat.

unrelated but each time I want to join Charcoal room, I use the "rejoin all fav rooms" button, which also makes me rejoin Trash room (it's in my favorites for whatever reason...). So sometimes I manually click its leave button, and that never fails to make me chuckle:
I'm a child...

ake?

:P

It's a quote from Oy of Mid-World, since we were talking about famous pets.

ahahahaha
go get 'im

Fantasy, too - Loiosh, from the Vlad Taltos novels by Steven Brust, is fun.

Q: Crimes of Grindelwald qestion

dean1957Why is the American magical government called American Ministry of Magic in the second movie? To me if anything it should be MACUSA or maybe the American Department of Magic like the real world example Department of Defense, etc. Maybe Rowling doesn't know how our government works or she did not ...

You don't say! ;-)

Azor AhaiI must admit, I entirely did not understand chose to join Grindelwald at the climax of The Crimes of Grindelwald. She seems like the least likely, given her relationship with Can anyone explain?

Q: British TV series with robot dog and post-apocalypse

Deutsch PirateI watched as a child, so not long ago, but because of my age, I must have watched the German dub, or there were subtitles, which may explain my confusion. Alex DownsIn the Shrek 2 video game for PC, there is a Wanted poster of the Farmer’s Wife from the Three Blind Mice nursery rhyme. Asking whether a mildly fantasy song references a D&D book is on-topic, right?
Well, technically it's a whole album

Oh well — this is the second time I answered a question only to see that it has a score of -7 so it won't appear on the homepage anyway.

11:46 PM
@Jenayah I would think so. If it's a novel based in a D&D setting (for example, the Drizzt Do'Urden books), certainly; it might be a bit more questionable if it's based on a D&D game book (Player's Handbook, Monster Manual, etc.)

Woops it was Forgotten Realms but you get my meaning
firing it up soon, then
