Q: Was Varys trying to poison someone?

MöozThere is a theory going around about Game of Thrones, Season 8, Episode 6 (The Bells), that Varys was attempting to poison A lot of the "evidence" is around Varys' new "little bird", the girl who says: To which Varys replies: Is this true? Is there official confirmation that Varys was at...

Q: Why did Theon charge to his death in S8E04, "The Last of the Starks"

alec_aIf he was trying to stall, he could have done so more effectively by waiting. If he was trying to kill the Night King, surely he could have thought up a better strategy than allowing the NK to see him charging for so long. One-on-one combat would be a better option, because it would be harder for...

Q: Is the portrayal of Drax in the MCU true to the comics?

ThePopMachineI am referring primarily to the comedic aspects of his portrayal: his method of speech, disrespect for and confusion regarding certain species, the moving so slowly he becomes invisible, etc. (I'm sure others have other examples.)

Q: Can Arya wear the face of White Walkers or the Night King?

alec_aI was wondering this while she was wandering around in the crypts, and now even more so after she killed the Night King. Do faces literally have to be cut from the bodies of one's victims, or does it work through magic? I would think the latter, as Jaquen is able to wear Arya's face in S5E10

If I have a picture of a superhero character, is it on-topic to ask a story-ID?
I've got this weird purple keychain thing
It doesn't have anything magical about it, but I believe superheroes are on-topic here?
@Jenayah ping
Is this place known for being like rude and stuff or did all the problems go away after Mos Eisley? It's been nice the whole time I've been active here, but it was around for about two years before that

It isn't showing, is it in Mos Eisley?
@Alex Or is that it?

@Stormblessed Yeah it's that.

If I have a picture of a superhero character, is it on-topic to ask a story-ID?
@Mithrandir is that on-topic?
Like just a random object of a superhero?

My attempts:

5014324w
5014324
5014323
5014322

And the correct one:

50143242

With no specifically fantasy things

If not for the first typo, I would have gotten it on the fourth try.

Probably... if it's a superhero, they're generally considered on topic.

It's also a humanoid with a very oddly shaped head
I'd upload a picture but don't feel like getting my phone out

Q: Why didn't Night King resurrect Viserion under water?

ashveliIn Game of Thrones, we can see in the episode "The Long Night" that the dead can be resurrected from the underground crypts. Why didn't Night King resurrect Viserion under water? Why did he have to make so much effort with poor wights with huge chains to extract the dragon from deep?

Yup that'd probably be on-topic but wait ~half an hour will you? I'll be on the bus and able to look for it then... Ah, kidding, do what you want of course :P

user2609404I keep vaguely remembering a character in one of Robert Heinlein's books saying something along the lines "there was a special place in hell for child molesters and people who drown kittens." This is a question about the show. In the books, some characters are alive that are dead in the show, so the answer would be different. In S08E04, Queen Daenerys makes a show of granting Storm's End to Gendry, the bastard of King Robert Baratheon. Before she does, she asks if anyone knows who the current Lord of Storm's End is. Nobody knows, and she gives it to Gend

@Jenayah Yeah, when they throw in "8 or 24 dimensions" the brain freezes up.

Brain froze a couple dimensions before that even

I dunno, it makes sense to me.
Not that I understand the paper, or why 8 and 24 are special, but it's perfectly reasonable that those two numbers might have some special property that others don't.

@Jenayah My Real Analysis prof used to say "This is what your write, but this is what your intuition is" and he'd always try to give us 3-dimensional ways to think about things. It worked for n-dimensional concepts (where n is arbitrary) but it doesn't help when talking specifically about even 4 or 5 dimensional ideas.

I just thought it was an interesting example of how severely interconnected things are in math and science.

@Valorum It’s possible to post an opinion answer to any question. We have ways of dealing with that. Those ways need not include closing questions that are perfectly answerable. Guessing how many people will post opinions and then arbitrarily deciding that a certain amount is too many is not a very objective metric. One might even call it Primarily Opinion-Based. — Alex 5 hours ago

Nothing has changed: none of the moderators are overworked, average flag handling times are still stable and are favorable compared to the rest of the network, the "inactive mods" often handle behind-the-scenes things, and moderators are not required to perform publicly visible actions.
We could pretty much copy-and-paste Kevin's answer from the last time we had this discussion, with nothing more than perhaps a few minor tweaks to the statistics.
