@Alex Fleur is haughty and always disdainful about what isn't from her comfort bubble. She must be Parisian.

Sounds more Partisan, though.
She comes across quite nice in the films, though.

@Jenayah You've been to Paris a few times.

@Alex yeah?

Aug 7 '18 at 18:52, by Jenayah
Never really done tourism in Paris apart from that, most of my times in Paris were for oral examinations to be honest

yeah?

Oct 12 '18 at 11:13, by Jenayah
wouldn't know about Paris though, the less I stay there the better :p
Oh, are you asking what my point is?
I thought you were challenging the assertion.

Oh, no
I've been to Paris, fact

@Jenayah Sounds like Dumbledore's description of Voldemort.
So Jenayah = Fleur = Voldemort = Alex.

@Alex Voldemort might be Parisian.

Apr 14 at 16:04, by Alex
Jenayah = Alex?

@Alex you've lost me there.

6:08 PM
Because of the French name?

@Jenayah You are Fleur because French girl criticizing British food. Fleur is Voldemort because similar description. Voldemort is Alex because of your famous "unsufferable" comment. Hence you are me.
@Jenayah Sorry, just trying to prove I'm not sick.

@Alex you're in great shape yeah

You two are so cute :-P

@Jenayah Beware, it comes along with a lot of robot/bathtub/elephant mother jokes.

@Randal'Thor does that mean we get to become floofs?

6:15 PM
@Jenayah If you post pictures of yourselves, sure.

We're matching.

Beats a dog anyway.

@Alex Or catching?
Spend too long in this room and you become Alexayah.

Catching Fire.
I'll be the Mockingjay.

6:18 PM
@Alex Not if you volunteer for it.

I'll be Snow...

> "A face picked from the masses", he called her.
> Plucked.

@Randal'Thor That sounds Russian. Maybe Je Aléx. Sounds more French.

Can I be the hovercraft?
The hovercraft rules.

Book hovercraft or film hovercraft?

6:21 PM
@Mithrandir You're always the villain.

@Randal'Thor let's say film

@Alex Although, if we say I'm Opal, my wings might come in handy.

6:39 PM
@Alex Now you all have me trying to make words out of any post that contains mostly capitalized words... "SJFVA"

@DavidW I have a Meta post about that too:

Q: Uncapitalizing a quoted text

AlexIf you are a regular reader of Mi Yodeya you may have noticed that I often cite the Soncino translation of the Talmud in my answers (and questions for that matter). One distinctive feature of the Soncino translation is that they translate Mishnah content in all capitals, while the translation of ...

A: What if your Orthodox rabbi tells you to ask your question on Mi Yodeya?

Y     e     zWow, what a great question. You should consult your local orthodox rabbi about it.

Lol :D

@Jenayah In case you don't get the context, one of the close reasons there is that it's a personal question which should be asked to a rabbi.

Q: Did Steve come back on his own in "Avengers: Endgame", and if so, how?

DJMcMayhemI don't understand how Steve... But I guess this is because I'm confused about how the time travel works in Endgame. Specifically this one question: Does Hulk (or whoever is operating the machine) pull people out of the past, or do they leave on their own accord? It seems to be implied that ...

oh, I thought it was about the widget thing telling you Mi Yodeya didn't replace a local rabbi :)

@Jenayah That's the same thing.
There's a close reason for it, and a reminder on the page.
The point is that if someone asks "what should I do?" the question gets closed, and the person is told to ask a rabbi in person. The Meta question is saying that when he asks his rabbi, the rabbi tells him to ask it on Mi Yodeya. So now he's stuck.

@Alex, I dedicate this one to you:
@Jenayah this is a dupe of that one so followed the chain. — TheLethalCarrot 4 mins ago
@TheLethalCarrot I don't think it's a dupe of the dupe of the dupe (but the dupe of the dupe is a dupe, that I won't deny). As said above the not-dupe-yet is about mechanisms (like, device mechanisms), not implications (like, paradox, timelines being wrecked and stuff). — Jenayah 35 secs ago
@Alex rabbi loop!
Also sorry for the phrasing @TheLethalCarrot but couldn't resist :P
(I don't think it's a dupe tho)

7:02 PM
@Jenayah That gets a star without even reading the context!

And as we're talking about time travel, this gets bumped for the 26th time: scifi.stackexchange.com/posts/144348/revisions
@Alex :D

Now I'm tempted to get involved.

watch the series :P

No, I just want to discuss whether it’s a duplicate.

Of course you do.

Q: Will summer return to the North?

SeamusthedogNow that the will the normal seasons return to the North i.e. summer, spring and autumn?

Now that I've read the questions they seem quite different.

AH!
Wait, joke aside, more serious matter. I need input on scifi.stackexchange.com/a/211507/98028. Is the book quoted considered fiction by Christians? Or does it go against our policy on answers based on religious texts? scifi.meta.stackexchange.com/q/9523/98028

This is all a reflection of this framing problem we've been having with these questions!
If people would ask about the origin, of an idea in speculative fiction, it could be Frankenstein or the Bible
The problem with these questions is that they are asked in such a manner as to exclude non-fiction and NON-SF sources.
Then people add them anyway and look like they're calling them SF

7:29 PM
so... request for clarification on answerer's stand in comments?

@Jenayah I just feel like we should encourage askers to edit all these sorts of questions to ask about origins or inspiration. This "first of" framework causes problems almost every time.

We should just shut down the site. It’s too complicated.

well, agreed. But that's not an answer to "is this NAA par our religion policy"

@Jenayah And banning the tag is a solution?

Ask on Christianity.stackexchange

@SQB I'm visiting Western Netherlands from 2019-05-11/2019-05-21. I like touristy places and museusm, so I won't entirely skip Amsterdam, but I will spend most of the week in Rotterdam. I'll also visit Utrecht, and I'm considering to visit Leiden too. I'm in the middle of looking up all the tourist informations, but there's too much of it, because there's so many things to see that I'll only cover a small fraction.
(Not surprising, I've been living in Budapest all my life and there are still many places here that I don't know.)
And yes, that includes a holiday.
Unfortunate, but presumably some museums and other touristy sites will still be open.

7:42 PM
@Jenayah Amazing how we switched sides.

@Alex Heh.
@Alex That's not enough proof. Everyone criticizes British food.

Q: 60s/70s science fiction novel where a man (after years of trying) finally succeeds to make a coin levitate by sheer concentration

Claudio PedrazziI am looking for an old (about sixties or seventies I believe) science fiction novel beginning with a man that after a lot of time trying finally succeeds in levitating a coin or some other small object that starts upwards and disappears through the ceiling. I read the novel in an italian trans...

@b_jonas I don’t.
Which I guess is self-refuting.

7:55 PM
@SQB Nice.

Jenayah can’t be me if I lack the very quality that makes her me.

@SQB Nah, that description doesn't make it sound like it's interesting enough.

@Marvin OP edited that quickly after the comments. Good to see.

@b_jonas yep. And with useful info as well

SQB
7:58 PM
@b_jonas there's an exhibition on Bauhaus in Boijmans—van Beuningen.

Who can help me if a question is on topic. I'm not sure if the title is a spoiler also
it is about Endgame

Okay people who haven't watch Endgame, go take a snack will you :-)

SQB
That's in Rotterdam as well, and it's the final exhibition before the major renovation.

But sure.

SQB
@Jenayah I've read the original comics. I'll be fine.

8:01 PM
Although we might go and squat in The Spoiler Room over at M&TV.

@Jenayah: Should I ask here or in another room?
ok I'll go there
but I wanna ask on Scifi
lol

@Alex The Dark side has cookies.

Meh, that won't cause much of a problem, methinks. The people who hang around in the Spoiler room might come to SFF as well ;)
Ah, just be warned, there's GOT spoilers as well there

@Jenayah I also used to.
In other news, the religious answer has been deleted and the unclear question has been reopened.

SQB
@b_jonas the Natural History Museum in Rotterdam is nice as well.

@SQB Those are always nice.

SQB
> [...] an original manuscript from 1865 from Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days [...]

@SQB That's a good thing to have for history, but not actually so interesting for someone like me to see behind a pane of glass.

SQB
I see your point.
How about the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague? Mondriaan among others.
Also, quite literally around the corner is an Omnimax theater.
Which is IMAX, projected on the inside of a half sphere.

I've seen manuscripts and facsimiles of manuscripts here, such as Arany János manuscripts exhibited in OSzK. They look like this commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/… , and note that Arany actually writes in a way that you can read the words, which is unusual. They're boring.
@SQB That may be interesting, yes, but on the other hand, I'll also visit the larger collections of fine art in Amsterdam.

SQB
8:33 PM
@b_jonas they won't have Mondriaan.
So it depends on your tastes and preferences.

@SQB Ok. I don't consider that a problem.
I'd rather look at the Vermeers.

SQB
If that's your preference, absolutely. You might want to go to the Mauritshuis in The Hague, then.

As for Arany and a lot of things I haven't seen in Budapest, I just found out about commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/… this relief of Arany that I somehow missed, or at least I don't recall having seen it. But now that I know where it is, I'll check it out.

8:49 PM
@TheLethalCarrot I think autocorrect done goofed, isn't it Uru instead of airy

Q: If President Trump survived The Snap, what would be his nickname for Thanos?

HRIATEXPIf President Trump survived The Snap, what would be his nickname for Thanos? The Snap took place in 2018 so that means that Trump was the POTUS at that time.

Cheers

Also you sure it's vibranium? May it have been nano?
@TheLethalCarrot anytime

I thought it was Vibranium nano
will double check

@Marvin Most interesting question so far about this film.

8:59 PM
@TheLethalCarrot Marvel science
How does Marvel science work?

Very well, thank you.
@b_jonas the new story-ID got IDed, and by a new user even :) scifi.stackexchange.com/a/211516/98028

Q: How did Valkyrie get a pegasus in "Endgame"?

Aryaman BansalWe didn't see any pegasus with Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok, and it seemed like Hela had killed them all earlier. And as Doctor Strange brought people from the same timeline, how did she get the pegasus back?

Well, Wakanda has had vibranium for centuries and their technology is the most advanced in the world. By all rights they should be way ahead of Tony. Yet Tony's suit is at least as capable as T'Challa's though lacking somewhat insofar as cutting vibranium goes.

@Alex Thug Thanos snapped half the universe, could have doubled everything. SAD!

I will build an enormous dome around planet earth, and make Sokovia pay for it!

DO AN UNIVERSE WITH DOUBLE THE SIZE YOU MORON

@Jenayah Obviously Thug Thanos used the Reality Stone to fake the <insert political thing going on at the time>

When Titan sends their people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you or me. They're bringing Outriders. They're Deviants. And some, I assume, are good people.

Why can't we get people from Xandar, instead of from s***hole planets?
Please note: I'm not siding or anything; just taking quotes and applying them to MCU

You know what vibranium is, right? It's this thing called Ultron, and other things,, like lots of things are done with Vibranium, including some bad things. But nobody talks about that.
Will someone from the Black Order please inform Thanos that I have an Infinity Gauntlet too, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Gauntlet works!

Q: Request to burninate the “Unclear what you're asking” close reason

bobUpdated; see examples at the bottom of this question I've seen many examples of questions that were closed with the reason "Unclear what you're asking" that had received multiple answers. This feels like a "he said/she said" situation: the close voters say the question is too unclear to answer,...

Q: Is Armus aka 'Skin of Evil' related to the Ba'ul species?

JepZIn season 2, episode 6 'The Sound of Thunder' of Star Trek Discovery we learn a few things about the Ba'ul. So the obvious question is if they are related in some way?

lol, not a singke upvote, that looks like a fun ride

Oh, I forgot to upvote it.
Now there’s one.

Q: Who builds Nazgûl's swords?

Goncalo PeresIn Mordor, who created the swords for Nazgûl? As they were kings of men from different places before the became wraiths I'd say that their swords were made by men, but I am not sure.

@Alex OP will think someone misclicked

@Jenayah Well now it has two upvotes.
Though my answer has no votes.
LTTPS Meta style.

Q: Wouldn't Voldemort know Harry was a Horcrux?

LilyVoldemort already knew he planned on making 7 Horcruxes - he asked Slughorn specifically about 7 and also the rocks on his window. So, why didn't he know Harry was one? Or surely he knew Harry would end up becoming one, inevitably meaning that he would die in the battle and life was pointless?

Q: Why didn't people (in the Battle of Hogwarts) try to duel with Voldemort?

user115963Many characters, aside from Harry, were in the same vicinity as Voldemort during the Battle of Hogwarts. Why then did they make the choice not to fight against him (and what was the effect of that choice)?
