11:00 PM
Those are the Brits and US, though :P

Well, Brits and US come up higher in search results than Dutch.
but it could be something similar.

wonder if the Dutch one has a link similar to the latest one...

Are any of the characters supposed to be Dutch?

...But that still doesn't explain how they could provide an Australian/Morrocian/Candaian soil
@Alex nope

Q: What is the Dutch Ministry of Defence thanked for in the end credits of Aquaman?

JenayahI can't provide a picture, but I spotted a "Dutch Ministry of Defence" line in the "thanks" section of Aquaman's end credits, shortly before the All persons fictitious disclaimer. This surprised me, because I don't see in what way the Dutch Ministry of Defence could have participated in this pro...

11:02 PM
citizen of the US, Atlantean, Atlantean, Xebellian (meh. Given how Xebel's pride is pictured, you might as well call them Atlantean...), and a couple from the remaining Seven Kingdoms

@Jenayah Are any of those reaal places?

the US is real
Atlantis... not found yet :)
same for Xebel, and Xebel was even a DC creation, I think
By the way, if someone wants to review the new tag wiki scifi.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/138705

@Jenayah What if someone wants to reject it?
Scratch that, I misread your statement.

@Alex Well, I didn't say "wants to approve", I said "wants to review". "Review" covers both possibilities, approve or reject

Scratch that, I misread your statement.
By the way, the Dutch Consulate/Embassy in Australia, Morocco, or Canada would be considered Dutch territory.

11:17 PM
@Alex see, you do have some FGITW on me
@Alex true.

@Jenayah Doesn't count. I was probably already typing that before you had even read my original comment.

@Alex no, it was replying to you mentioning a possible rejection

@Jenayah Right, but I may have already realized my mistake before you read my comment. So that's not a faster gun; that's just having a headstart.
But perhaps this is:

meh, thinking's hard

So is eating.

11:28 PM
wait, how do you know that?

Because I eat.

oh, I thought you were talking about me.

Or did you think I was a robot or something.
I do get asked to prove my humanity on Stack Exchange quite often.

ahah

What's the time limit for having a post draft open until you have to verify you are a human before submitting it?

Q: Manga about a girl who fights in dreams?

Bree HiattI have this manga I read once a long time ago. It seemed to be about a girl and her friends who had different life's in their Dre's and fought evil or something in them? They had magic powers there were both boys and girls and it might have been a shojo? I'm not sure. Really wanted to re read it....

Q: What are the Seven Kingdoms in Aquaman?

SamWhat are the Seven Kingdoms in the Aquaman film? These are the ones I caught in the film, but I think I missed the others. Atlantis: ruled by Orm (at beginning of the film) Xebel: ruled by King Nereus Trench

When you use "thanked for", shouoldn't the wh- word be "what" and not "why"?
"Why" would apply if the question was "Why are they thanked in the credits", no modifier, no?

@Jenayah It should either be "Why were they thanked?" or "What were they thanked for?"

So the title part of this edit is mistaken?
I mean I think it is but I don't want to go into edit war :)

@Jenayah I already rolled it back, but feel free to change.

@Alex well, actually the "lent" part was my mistake so editing right away

11:40 PM
@Jenayah I'm not sure you're wrong there either.

Irregular verbs, why do you even exist

@Jenayah Oh, I thought you were the one who wrote "lent".

It might also be a British vs American thing.

ah, maybe

11:44 PM
As in: But if you're using the past tense of burn as a ho-hum verb, talking perhaps about the toast you've just overtoasted, burned is likely to be your choice. Unless you're a speaker of British English or have been binge-watching "Sherlock." In American English, burned is usual past tense.

I come to this site for sci-fi and fantasy stuff, not grammar :'(

Lots of that stuff depends on Grammar.

yeah

Q: Why does Hermione say "Forget it" about Hagrid's mother when she couldn't have known before that she was dead?

dobbyIn Goblet of fire, chapter 23 (Yule Ball) we hear Hagrid talking about his family for the first time. “It was my mother,” said Hagrid quietly. “She was one o’ the las’ ones in Britain. ’Course, I can’ remember her too well . . . she left, see. When I was abou’ three. She wasn’ really the ...

Well that's more language then grammar, but same idea.
And there are 446 questions mentioning Harry Potter on English Language Learners.
(Should give me something to do when I exhaust the ones here.)

That too, I guess

Q: Why did Aragorn call this stranger father?

the-profile-that-was-promisedAt the edge of Fangorn, Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas noticed a man robed in white. After seeing him, Aragorn leapt up and said: Well, father, what can we do for you? Come be warm, if you are cold! Why did Aragorn call the stranger father? Did he think he was his father? Or was it something el...

@Alex woah, really?
that's a lot

11:48 PM
Yeah. I've already answered a couple.

Although I guess HP books were among my first reads in English, too.

Perhaps surprisingly, someone who knows Harry Potter can often give a better answer than someone who knows English.

It helps when you've already got an idea of what happens... Although there's so much vocabulary that changes
Eh, that was my first read in English:

@Jenayah Is that the first one?

yep

11:52 PM
I read a bunch of those.
Lions at Lunch or something like that.

Well let's get asking.

Q: Why do some Atlantians need water breathing suits?

sanpacoIn the new Aquaman movie there are a number of scenes where Atlantians are seen on land wearing suits filled with water so they can breath. In some of the fight sequences we even seen their suits breaking and the person inside "drowns" like a fish out of water. Yet Aquaman, his mother, and numero...

Q: Did the Sea-Monster serve king Atlan?

padfootIn the movie Aquaman, Aquaman is attacked by a sea monster who says something like: "no one has conversed with me since king Atlan" and the monster calms down, later the monster fights with Aquaman (after he claimed the trident) in the big battle. Throughout the rest of the movie I didn't see an...

I think I read the first eleven of them.

aren't there like, 50?

The Magic Tree House is an American series of children's books written by American author Mary Pope Osborne. The original American series is illustrated by Salvatore Murdocca, although other illustrators have been used for foreign-language editions. The series consists of two groups. The first group consists of books 1-28, in which Morgan Le Fay sends Jack and Annie Smith, two normal children who are siblings from the fictional small town of Frog Creek, Pennsylvania, on numerous adventures and missions with a magical tree house. The second group, referred to as the Magic Tree House "Merl...
But there's apparently another series of Mission Books.
With another 27 books.
