@PauloCereda The TUG meeting in Rio is in 9 months. I ... did not think of that meeting at the time I should have to ...

@UlrikeFischer Thank you for your answer: tex.stackexchange.com/a/398261/101651. I didn't know \reflectbox!
@CarLaTeX \duck[book={\scalebox{-0.5}[0.5]{\TeX}}] would do the same, but imho "\reflectbox" is easier to remember.
@UlrikeFischer Yes, it is!
07:25
@barbarabeeton Imho the sentence in the amsthm documentation that "If any theorem elements are numbered by section, and (in a book) the first such element in a chapter comes before the first section, numbering will continue from the previous chapter." is no longer true.
08:20
@StefanKottwitz oh no
Could someone with a current texlive test this here tex.stackexchange.com/a/398274/2388? I don't know if the missing activation of the map file is a texlive bug that I should report.
@UlrikeFischer Works fine here
09:00
Quack!
09:23
@PauloCereda Qua qua qua
@CarLaTeX ooh an Italian duck
@CarLaTeX it is always astonishing how many votes one can get by adding a few pictures with ducks to a picture.
@UlrikeFischer ducks are powerful. :)
@UlrikeFischer True!!! I didn't think it'd be so, it was such a simple question!

oh boy oh boy oh boy

@PauloCereda LOL
@PauloCereda which reminds me we got some fluffy ducks
(sorry for the quality, I didn't want to upload too large images ...)
@UlrikeFischer awwwww
Didn't see that coming.....
@AlanMunn ^^ :)
10:05
@JosephWright Thanks. Then I will assume that it is a local problem ...
10:16
@JosephWright found it. updmap-sys failed due to missing map-file called in a long-forgotten local updmap.cfg ...

who knows a good duck recipe
the dancing..
@PauloCereda I can't see this link, but I have on for you cartoonstock.com/cartoonview.asp?catref=dcr0295
@UlrikeFischer ooh gorgeous duck :)

Hi chat!
@BAYMAX Aloha!
!!
Actually a question
ooh the Big Hero bloke. :)
Ha ha
the TV season coming on Nov 20th
do watch
:)
I have a sharelatex file i want that to be a TEX file
I just simply copied and ran and it showed me errors in texmaker but the same ran with errors in sharelatex
any ideas
Black magic? :)
13:00
meaning?
Now, seriously: perhaps different TeX distros.
Different versions of packages.
It can be a lot of things. :)
Do you have a MWE?
MWE?
Minimum working example
Yes, if possible. :)
I don't use ShareLateX, perhaps \listfiles might help?
where do i include \listfiles
Do you have access to your log file in ShareLaTeX?
13:05
@BAYMAX ShareLaTeX does not have the updated versions of the packages, they update their system only periodically. Add \listfiles at the beginning of your code to see in the log which version you're using both on ShareLaTeX and on Texmaker.
@CarLaTeX @BAYMAX It's \listfiles, not \filecontents.
@PauloCereda It's possible to see the log on ShareLaTeX.
@CarLaTeX Hm interesting!
@egreg Sorry, lapsus
13:42
Thanks for the efforts! - healthcare companion :)

@barbarabeeton: /poke
@UlrikeFischer -- thanks. i'll check that, and fix the documentation as necessary. although, admittedly, i'm surprised. i wasn't aware that there had been any changes that would affect this. it may be that a change has been made in book.cls, but if the problem still occurs with amsbook, the warning can't be removed completely.
@PauloCereda -- yup, message received! very fine!
@barbarabeeton yay <3
16:05
@barbarabeeton @UlrikeFischer that would I guess be a change to latex's \stepcounter which (since 2015) resets all lower counters recursively not just the immediately declared resets
@DavidCarlisle your fault?
2 days ago, by David Carlisle
@JosephWright not my fault
2015-01-10 David Carlisle <[email protected]>

* ltcounts.dtx: Reset all within counter levels (latexrelease)

How you mastered LaTeX @PauloCereda :)
@BAYMAX shoulders of giants. :)
meaning?
16:46
@DavidCarlisle I know. I actually read the latex news ;-). @barbarabeeton Probably you should write something like "in older latex versions ...".
@PauloCereda they cross the slide
actually i have two sentences and two equations
and after that i want to insert two images side by side
in one slide

The metaphor of dwarfs standing on the shoulders of giants (Latin: nanos gigantum humeris insidentes) expresses the meaning of "discovering truth by building on previous discoveries". This concept has been traced to the 12th century, attributed to Bernard of Chartres. Its most familiar expression in English is by Isaac Newton in 1675: "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." == Attribution and meaning == The attribution to Bernard of Chartres is due to John of Salisbury. In 1159, John wrote in his Metalogicon: "Bernard of Chartres used to compare us to dwarfs perched...

@PauloCereda @BAYMAX or more simply \includegraphics{a}\includegraphics{b} images come side by side by default (just like letters)
@UlrikeFischer "fake news"
19:43
@PauloCereda I guess the new TeX friend will join June/July, so with some family support Rio is still in my plan, just wanted to let you know this way :-o

Has the f on \fbox got any meaning?
@Schopenhauer -- \fbox is an abbreviated form of \framebox.
I see..thanks! @barbarabeeton

1 hour later…
22:51
@yo' ooh
@StefanKottwitz oh
@Schopenhauer same as m in mbox (which is a version of \makebox)
@PauloCereda did you see the vim question? someone claimed they'd manage to save a file. Do you think that's really possible?
@DavidCarlisle Preposterous. :)
23:57
@DavidCarlisle maybe with escape :\immediate\write
