Good morning all, so far today I have failed to get my mobile internet working, and missed afly-by of a Boeing 787over the premises via the medium of rushing outside to see it as the window view was bad.

I am aware that when I press ⌥ or ⇧⌥ on my Mac, I can type a variety of special characters. I also know that I can insert special characters using the character palette. Is there a way to expand the number of special characters I can type while using the keyboard?

I am looking for a way to inject some more extensions into the OS X launch services database systematically so that when clicked, they execute in the terminal app just like .command files do by default.

90% of the applications I've installed on this laptop have copied in less than a second. Only the largest things that ship a whole framework (Java, Qt, etc.) take at least a handful of seconds.
I hope to blow the MBP away and do a clean install next week. Then I'll have more data on whether Lion runs thinner on this air and leaves more RAM for VM or it's just a "new mac" snappyness
