@Zanna I went ahead and made a branch with that rebase, and published it as a gist. This has every version of the scripts. See the "Revisions" tab. Gists support forking. You can also just clone that. Note that it doesn't have the SEDE queries.
Perhaps some of these messages--at least that one--should be moved to the Downboat.
@Zanna I just mean that stuff about the scripts should probably go there, because the scripts are being used for a cleanup project on Ask Ubuntu. I'll eventually try to figure out which messages should be moved (unless you prefer to do so). For now I think things can continue however, and maybe that will even give clarity about what parts of the conversation should be moved.
I don't know. Maybe the idea is that it wasn't installable at the time because it was waiting on some dependencies? I don't think that's likely to have been a correct answer though.
@Zanna Although major dictionaries don't seem to list it, apparently it is a word. But it's unclear to me if its meaning extends to the way it was used in that post. The edit was good, I'd say.
^^ It generated quite a lot of interest so presumably a number of people encountered problems that could be described similarly. I think that without knowing if guest additions are installed (see comment) that it really isn't clear, though. Its anonymous/low-rep feedback is +7 -11.
I think it would've been acceptable for me to have made my edit from the CV queue, but I avoided doing so, because the close flag there really should not be marked helpful.
@AbhayPatil I think I may have expressed myself very unclearly in that comment. I hope that at least the linked meta post was helpful...
Questions like that get close votes/flags pretty often and I think a lot of people have the same doubt about what counts as "about Ubuntu" in terms of on-topicness. I get the impression that people are asking themselves something like "is this Ubuntu-ey enough?" but there's no need to worry about stuff like that - it's just is the system in use here Ubuntu? (which can be assumed in the absence of evidence to the contrary) If so, it's almost certainly on topic
@Zanna Yes Zanna, I was also a bit hesitant while marking it off-topic, because deep inside I thought it would have been a better fit for Unix and Linux. But this meta.askubuntu.com/q/14523/1067851 question did make me more aware of what is on topic. Thank you for that
And there are various other rooms for other purposes. Frequently a room is created in connection with a specific question or answer, often to continue back-and-forth troubleshooting or some other discussion that started in comments. Here's a list of all the rooms associated with Ask Ubuntu.
@EliahKagan I actually close voted that question as a duplicate, and it needs another close vote as a duplicate of "Can I skip releases when upgrading?"
