Regret in the digital world usually runs the same as it would in the physical world. Because in this case the interaction is not derivative of the medium.

One would regret cursing out a person online and return a later day to apologize, much the same as one would have the same regret doing it in person. It's people who acknowledge that this is the same kind of interaction that do this. Distancing the internet on a morality note and ascribing that any relationships forged online are distinctly "meaningless" is where that breaks down.
