Skill builds are...stupid. When you level, you choose from Prowess, Fortitude, or Cunning. That's it. Everybody's locked into those three groups.

Active skills are gems you find or get as rewards, and socket into your equipment.

Passive skills are what you get for levelling up, on a massive skill tree.

Active skills gain XP while they're equipped. Even if you don't use them.

At level ~12 or so, you start picking up skill mod gems, which modify whatever skill they're attached to.

And THEY level up, too.

Still though, browser based means you can play it from anywhere, which is nice.

Also, it's going to have an Android and iOS port.

I don't like how Akaneiro distills everything down to a single currency, which is purchasable with real money.

But with this game being freemium, guaranteed, they're going to be upping karma costs into pay-only regions.

And dammit, Escape means bring up system menu!

All in all, play Path of Exile.

It will be more fun, and less, "What the crap does THIS do? Why am I using it?"

PoE was, "Pick your class! Here's some voiceover explaining their personality."

Then you hit level 2, and it's, "Here's a passive skill point! Here's your giant-ass tree to put it in! Have fun!"

And then, "Know those empty holes in your weapon? Put this in. Now you have a skill! Here's how to use it. And guess what? It levels, too!"
