Often when playing Mario Kart Wii, I'll have a Red Shell whizz right by me or one of my Red Shells will just miss another player. Because of this, I'm curious how the Red Shell homes in on players - does it act as a green shell for a little bit before it decides who to home on?

In Left 4 Dead, and also Left 4 Dead 2, does it make any difference which character you pick? Do they have different speed, toughness, accuracy, etc, or are they identical? In single player, do they have different AI (weapon preferences, more likely to use or share healthpacks, etc)?

I know there used to be an option to show FPS at all times in an earlier version and I know F3 still shows it now but only while you hold F3. I tried this F3 + alt + F3 technique but (at least on my macbook pro) I couldn't get that to work. Any other suggestions?
