Hey, we've been working on this over at my site and have figured out a bunch of stuff but are still putting pieces together all the time. Everything is more relevant than anyone would think and it's been fun figuring it out so far. Check out the article if you wanna see what we've got so far, new...
Something feels off about this answer.
Think I placed it in my comment, maybe not though.
I'm looking for games that include procedurally generated content as a major feature; like all levels are generated, enemies, weapons, etc.
One per answer please, and pics if you got em!
Games that have been mentioned already:
Diablo
Dwarf Fortress
Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, the
Eufloria...
A couple of days ago a glass of orange juice was spilled and it got into my PS2 through the front ventilation slots. I turned off the power (though no malfunction was evident), unplugged everything and semi-submerged the PS2 in tap water a few times to rinse out the juice. (Distilled water might ...
I was fighting with a scimitar and suddenly I noticed I'm actually fighting with a common sword. How do I drop this weapon and pick up a guards weapon? I wanna pick up an axe or spear.
I've finished Bioshock (and loved it).
I played through with rescuing all little sisters first, then went back and harvested the 3 just before the proving grounds to see the other ending.
I may go see Sander Cohen's apartment.
Is there anything else worth doing before I uninstall?
I was surp...
Is there a "Second Life" type game for the Wii? A virtual world
dedicated to building and socialization, not fighting/leveling?
It'd be nice to have an MMORPG where people see the same thing, since
their "video cards" are identical (there's still network lag, but it's
better than Second Life...
I want to get a wireless headset for my Xbox 360, but I would also like to be able to use it for skype and maybe even my droid. Is this possible? if so, what am I looking for?
That was originally true. Having read it several times now, I've come to the conclusion that while I can't pick out a specific reason, I still feel like this question doesn't belong.
@Mechko It could... but only because of the method he's tried to use to solve it. If he had asked his question without documenting his own attempts to solve the problem, neither of you'd have an issue with it
A question asking if someone had written a tool to find the best move in Connect Four would be similar, yes? So what's the intention behind that question and does it matter? I could be using a computer program to advise my gameplay, or I could be using it to build an AI. If the former, it might belong here, if the latter, it would belong on Game Dev. Do you disagree?
If you guys don't mind me chiming in, I'll just say that I think that sort of question that might belong on either here or game-dev depending on the author's intentions with the answers is fine to keep here.
@Mana It's an interesting idea... the intentionality of the question being a criterion for inclusion or exclusion. Talk about that gray area that we seem to so hate.
@JavaDoc what I'm saying is quite the opposite. I'm saying we shouldn't care about the intention of the question. If it fits in our site's scope it fits in our site's scope.
I really don't see any problem with this Risk problem. The person asking the question wants to know how a particularly mathematical-based mechanic of the game works, or at least find out if there's some kind of tool he can use to determine that for himself.
I think it's relevant to people who might play that game, I think it's an incredibly detailed question and I don't think it's a recommendation/mod-dev question of any sort.
I also think that I can't type worth a damn at 2:30 AM in the morning, and that that might be a reason as to why I'd type both "AM" and "in the morning".
I found two sites which looks similar to Stackoverflow.
http://www.dyndnscommunity.com/
http://www.excbadaccess.com/ (hmm - that's for the iPhone, I didn't notice the crowd over there, Why is it so ?)
Both sites are Q-A site for different purposes. But I didn't notice the accounts tab in user...
To members of Runescape,
I thought of becoming a paid Runescape member, but isn't it a monthly fee? don't you find it expensive? I'm a level 40 free player, and I've got 100Kgp and full mith armor.
What are really the advantages of becoming a member? do you find it more fun in any way?
All,
we would like to give our son an XBox Live Gold membership.
He and I both have a (Silver) account on XBox Live. Options I have found so far to get a Gold Membership are
Attach our Visa card to our son's account
Go out an buy a Prepaid card
What I would like to do is only attach our...
When playing Empire Total War at the highest resolution on my laptop, the text is UI elements is too small to read easily. Currently I have to turn down the resolution to solve this, which is not an ideal solution. Is there some sort of large text option?

I did Cons Shells against Banelings, Tanks against Zerglings and Marines/AA/Vikings against Mutas.
Furthermore I also upgraded their armor and then their firepower from the Engineering Bay.

At one point, party hats were worth 5 million to 10 million gold, masks 350,000 to 500,000 gold, crackers 50 million, and easter eggs some valuable amount.
What are these items worth today?
I both played and enjoyed the past games from the Sim series (Sims, Simcity, Simant, etc.) in addition to Spore. I have unfortunately grown bored of them and have been since searching for games that feature similar evolving gameplay. I would prefer an open ended game, if you know of any.
While playing Borderlands I have noticed that whenever there is a boss mission you generally have to go through an entire sahara desert to reach him in his hideout. Along the way you have to insanely kill everyone present. The problem:
1) There is no option to buy more ammo once you are near the...
The question might answer itself by just thinking about it......
But is it at all possible to create an enchanter character, and send it my other characters' soul-bound gear just to get enchanted?
If not, that means the only way you can get your gear enchanted is if you actually run into an encha...
How can I use those two things together, Annabelle(Missile Launcher) can use High Velocity Missiles, but cant use the High Explosive. Is there any way to make it use those too? Will it work with regular Missile Launcher?
Torches seem to be stuck ON all the time. Given
SrrTrr (Switch, redstone, Torch)
the torch and all the redstone are lit regardless of the position of the switch. Removing the torch shows the switch and redstone connected to it function as expected. Is anyone else seeing this?
FWIW, this is...
Do we need to refer to any kind of guide for this game? I think I'm still at the first level and I have somehow reached the wine cellar. I've been wondering around aimlessly but can't figure out where to go.
So I checked the walkthrough and it appears I had to do a ton of other things before I h...
I'm so glad the problem of game recommendation questions has been put behind us, so we can move on to other problems like game identification questions.
So I was playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and the game froze ( happens quite often ) so I restarted the ps3 and now it is not detecting any discs ( games, dvds, cds ). I can hear the drive make sounds. What should I do ?
I have tried the restore menu -> fix filesystem to no avail.
I read that the auto worker functionality in civilization 4 doesn't really work very well - he keeps building farms as opposed to towns and other objects. Since im still pretty new to this (and dont play much strategy games xcept for age of empires kind which is pretty simple and straight forward...
I'd like to pick up a racing wheel for the Xbox 360 (bonus points if it supports PC and/or PS3 as well), but I can't find any that seem to be still distributed. Logitech's and Mad Catz's models are discontinued and I can't find even the original Microsoft one either.
Are there particular flaws w...
I purchased the humble indie bundle 2, downloaded braid, and installed it. Since the bundle is now available on Steam, I am now downloading the Steam version for achievements etc. Will the steam version use the same save as the non-Steam version?
