For white metal on miniatures, people recommend using metals as your base and then layer up to white. Not sure how that would work on a large model / airbrushing.
@JasonBerkan My uncertainty about using it here is that a wash generally works best when the model has concave areas for the wash to settle. I'm not sure there's many areas in this model for that to happen.
@JasonBerkan There's a technique used for Gundams, I think it's called the Max Effect, that's basically just spraying the details with black, and then layering white on it to lighten it.
I think that's what was used.
@MBraedley I can probably speed it up by just focusing on the detail lines, rather than layering it from black on up.
I can pull off the metallic blue and chrome without any problems.
It's just the shadow effect on the white that I haven't done before.

My friend's Tau battlesuits are similar to Gundam, but smaller. He drybrushes the edges - it's not as neat, but it does ensure a nice contrast in colours.
