I found that Origin wasn't as bad as everyone made out for BF3 - the "always on" of Sim City is going to irk a lot of people.

@badp many copies of D3 on torrent sites appears to be the install files for a copy that requires a legitimate battle.net account, there are a couple of torrents claiming to be server emulators and a couple of torrents claiming to be a cracked copy of Diablo 3

but tbh, SimCity being always online doesn't bother me at all

Ok. I think taking a break from Fire Emblem's story in favour of grinding has payed off. Placed my units at the choke-points in chapter 14, ended my turn, and then 80% of the enemy forces impaled themselves on my swords. The other 20% included the boss, that doesn't move, a couple units that were out of range, and the ranged units that dealt 0 damage to my melee only pairs.

Diablo 3 was always online, that annoyed me, I expended all of my energy being mad at always on DRM by being mad at Blizzard

I suspect that in order to make it run offline would require some level of emulation of that, at the very least

this "server emulator" for D3 looks like it might actually work, by the fact it didn't get downvoted into oblivion

but most torrents appear to be the actual game, requiring a battle.net account
