3:01 PM
Good morning, almost afternoon.

morning @derobert

I'm happy this morning. Nothing broke over the weekend! Only a database running low on disk space on a backup partition.

@derobert then you are still sleeping having a peaceful dream

@Braiam Could be. Did not realize @Braiam was a figment of my imagination. :-/

3:45 PM
Hi everybody, anyone has experience with pulse and alsa on gnomeshell ?

4:37 PM
pulse and alsa, yes. GNOME Shell, no

@derobert I wondered why it often happen to me that
alsa detects every piece of output hardware I plug and pulse almost never

Not sure. Doesn't happen here, though I don't hotplug audio hardware that often. Maybe you don't have module-udev-detect loaded in pulse?

interesting @derobert how would you proceed to check that ?

pa-cmd list-modules or pactl list modules

sorry for the french output
Module #8
Nom : module-udev-detect
Paramètre :
Nombre d'utilisations : n/d
Propriétés :
module.author = "Lennart Poettering"
module.description = "Detect available audio hardware and load matching drivers"
module.version = "4.0"
it does seems to be loaded
the the number of use if not set :/

4:43 PM
Yeah. That looks right. So it should add a module-alsa-card for each ALSA sound card.
Are you sure it's not in pulse? Have you checked pactl list cards?

Yes already and it appears in alsamixer without issue but both ubuntu sound card selector and pulse never showed the soundcard

Odd. Probably best to ask a question on the site about it. That shouldn't happen...

OK, well I already did on askubuntu, but as askubuntu is often better for application issue than real debug, I was curious to have real thoughs about that though it seems to happen pretty ramdomly

You can flag the question and ask to have it moved over here, if you'd like.

OK, i don't know what I did but it seems to not happen anymore... even after a short spleep
I'll keep ask to move if it happen again
@derobert thanks anyway :-)
it's always good to learn more material

4:48 PM
Ok. May just be some weird bug.

@derobert wouldn't be the first on ubuntu

5:20 PM
@slm so, you want to come work somewhere fun?
Another thing I should mention that you might find interesting, we're hiring/stealing one of the core docker developers. This is a good place to be :-)

5 hours later…
10:22 PM
more fedora ad upvote begging :)

slm
10:33 PM
@mattdm - hey you work for RH, correct?

1 hour later…
@mattdm That's cheating! Same link on both adds :)

@terdon I guess :). I'm curious which one people like more and which one works better
The doge one is really kind of time-limited. The meme is really kind of over its peak.
I could change that one to be for Fedora Magazine in genera, I guess.

Nah, I'm just pulling your leg. Knock yourself out.
