Q: Chess Board Analyzer

DialFrostFind the winner (W or B) for the given chess board. If there isn't a King in checkmate position output N. You have to make several assumptions: The given boards are legal and are assuming the official Chess rules In every board there is a winner (no draws) or the board is not terminal (the game ...

Bgil MidolDetermine if a number is base n heavy Given a positive integer and a base number, determine if the number is heavy in that base. Examples When we convert 100 to base 2 (binary), we get 1100100 \$\log_{10}(100) = 2\$, and there are at least 2 ones (the max number in the base) on one end. Scoring ...

Feedback?

You haven't really specified what heavy is

@Bubbler It's in the examples section.

No, it's far from enough. Exactly how many "max number in the base"s are needed to be considered heavy? Does it depend on the base or not?
The description should be complete without help of examples

better?

12:48 AM
You want b-1s, not bs. Also, what if log10(n) is not an integer?

@Bubbler round down

Really? I would expect to round up because the smallest whole number >= log10(n) is log10(n) rounded up.
As you already use MathJax at that part, you could add floor (or ceiling) notation on that to make the rounding direction clearer

@Bubbler which part?

\$ \log_{10}(n) \$
into \$ \lfloor \log_{10}(n) \rfloor \$

Sandbox posts last active a week ago: Very simple auto battler

1:00 AM
@Bubbler uh the mathjax isn't rendering

You have double backslash
and apply floor in the examples section too

@AncientSwordRage i thot u said it was gd

You don't need to worry about 1 downvote in general

still...
it means the public doesnt rly approve of it

it means one person doesn't like it

and someone also downvoted my hello world post
sad
i think someone finding all my posts and downvoting or smh

targeted voting tends to get automatically reversed

Q: Pretty print my arrays

emanresu AI like to pretty print multidimensional arrays, like this: [ [ [1, 2, 3], [4, 5, 6] ], [ [7, 8, 9], [6, 4, 2] ] ] But it's a pain to do by hand and it'd be nice to have a program that does this for me. Your challenge is to create a program that does this for me, taking a multidimension...

Nope, I've gotten a +10

and we have four ties right now

Half-and-half I gues

If anyone wants to break ties, it's the last chance to cast a vote.
(and yeah, we can halve rewards if necessary, but still)

@Bubbler hehe i havent voted yet, time to break all the ties

Any idea how we organise the bounty-giving?
@AidenChow time to get comment vote limited :(

ok i broke the ties for all of them :D

5:34 AM
In the last years, the users who offered the rep gathered in a separate chatroom and decided who'd give rep to which post
and if the awardee is not an answer (could be a question or a user), we invite the respective user to ask which post to put the bounty

There was one highly voted nomination in which the author had no answers and was inactive
But it's not winning so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If that happens, we simply can't award the bounty. That's a shame but it's how SE works (or doesn't work)

I think I'm gaining more rep then I'm offering from this

That's a good thing :P

5:54 AM
Any mods to lock the post at the announced time?

No, but I can take a wayback machine snapshot

Nice, that will work too

For some reason it's not working, gtg

6:10 AM

Thanks :)
(2 1/3 each I think)
Bubbler got four

Well, one was uncontested, I think caird equally deserves the award for another, and the third was pure luck... maybe one is legit lol

8:08 AM
@Bubbler caird insisted you alone should have the award for the second one
Jan 20 at 20:27, by caird coinheringaahing
@pxeger For what it's worth, regarding this nomination, I think the nomination should go to Bubbler entirely, rather than voting for either Bubbler or me. My original idea for some form of Advent of Code was different to what Bubbler actually did (and I intend to run that event for Dec 2022), and Bubbler did most of the work in making my suggestion into a reality.

Q: Write a program that writes to stdout the 'bingo' rhyme in as little bytes as possible

py3programmerSomebody might have already written something like this, but I didn't check. Anyway, what my challenge is this: Most of you would have heard the nursery rhyme "Bingo", at least since you were a child (if you haven't, look up a video with it). In the small as possible of bytes , write a program ...

@NewPosts To anyone wondering why I closed this as a dupe of the rickroll, see this meta post

9:51 AM
anyone can check on my challenges thx
other than ophact ofc

10:13 AM
Bingo is a bit more interesting than the rickroll post; there's a pattern in the lyrics
There was a farmer who had a dog,
and Bingo was his name-o.
B-I-N-G-O
B-I-N-G-O
B-I-N-G-O
And Bingo was his name-o.

There was a farmer who had a dog,
and Bingo was his name-o.
(clap)-I-N-G-O
(clap)-I-N-G-O
(clap)-I-N-G-O
And Bingo was his name-o.

There was a farmer who had a dog,
and Bingo was his name-o.
(clap)-(clap)-N-G-O
(clap)-(clap)-N-G-O
(clap)-(clap)-N-G-O
And Bingo was his name-o.

There was a farmer who had a dog,
and Bingo was his name-o.
(clap)-(clap)-(clap)-G-O
(clap)-(clap)-(clap)-G-O
It shouldn't have been closed as a dupe
It should have been closed as unclear, because the lyrics weren't specified
but it's deleted now, so I guess it doesn't matter

I asked for the lyrics, but then the question was closed.

@ophact OP responded, but unhelpfully:
> bingo is a nursery rhyme, by the way. Besides, there is no link explicitly

SE's users love to close things as duplicates. Most of the times, these were right decisions, but of course there are also some bad cases.
no offense to any party involved.

@ophact i got a question closed as a dupe of mine

10:21 AM
my single greatest moment

@pxeger You can make a variable called "1"?

yep

I love it, maybe I should learn zsh

so in Zsh, i could make a variable called 69
i should learn Zsh

they're often more useful than alphabetic variables as well, because you can put letters directly after them. e.g. $1A is the variable 1 plus the literal character A; however, $xA would be a single variable called xA

10:23 AM
oh cool. That's quite unique

numbered variables correspond to the inputs: ato.pxeger.com/…

Would $11 be the variable 1 plus 1?

but for things like bingo, they're empty by default
@ophact no, it would be the variable called 11 (eleven)

well that's rather inconsistent. nonetheless it's still something that I find much more interesting than what is done in other languages

zsh? inconsistent? never.... /s

10:25 AM
I'm gonna try to answer the Bingo challenge myself. Just for fun.

Q: Moving Coins Golf

py3programmerImagine a 'square' that has 6 coins, suppose: O O X O O X O O X O's are coins and X's are empty. Now, your challenge is to make a program that moves all the coins to every spot in the square. Coins can move to the same place more than once. They cannot leave the square's edges. Each time a coin...

@pxeger Sorry, Iwas thinking of a different song. Reopened but it's still deleted
(SE be like)

@pxeger in response to this question, what if there were more than 2 dead-ends (places you can get to in only one way, so you cannot exit without retracing your steps)

well then of course it's impossible

@StackMeterPlus look up the Königsberg Bridge problem
@emanresuA is it ok to VTUD?

20k+ can undelete, right?
or am I missing something else

I'm not sure why, but I have an Undelete button

Go ahead, then ;)

10k+ delete/undelete qs
@pxeger If it got undeleted it'd get closed as needs details or clarity

10:37 AM
I really don't know why the deletion/undeletion privileges are so inconsistent
@emanresuA but that's fixable with some effort from the OP

Me neither lol

they just need to paste in the exact lyrics of their version of the song

@pxeger of course, you could just edit it yourself

You can do it for them
see above

but I don't know if that's the exact version they want

10:38 AM
@pxeger Yeah, but the fact that they've deleted it and posted another question suggests they don't care

@emanresuA i could do it

Most people delete duplicate questions

True, vtud'd

(should we really be able to undelete a question that the OP deleted?)

Sorry, I stuffed up

April Fools' Day proposal: undelete hundreds of spam questions for fun, then re-delete them at the end of the day.

@emanresuA I suppose that's also a flaw of dupe hammers

Yeah
time to get a sock

If there wasn't a dupe hammer, it would have remained open, and people could have discussed it

@ophact think of all the flags i could get

10:43 AM
The hammer is useful sometimes, but it isn't useful all the time

Actually, is it ethical to use a sock and not use your main account to do something?

like if you want to avoid hammering?
I think, as long as you don't act twice (don't act on both accounts), it's probably ok

yeah
because then that's just farming flags on all of your accounts

What I've seen people (like caird and bubbler) do in situations like that is comment that they would otherwise vtc as dupe of something if they didn't have a badge

i use Python 3
i always have

I once had an 05AB1E phase
I also had a keg phase

@StackMeterPlus I use Python, the most inoffensive of languages, and JavaScript, everyone's least favorite language. Except for me, Radvylf and possibly Emanresu

@ophact the problem is everyone likes Python

yes, there you go

10:57 AM
if i leanred Javascript, no-one would do the same
because Python > Javascript

I had an Elixir phase

yikes

although it's so ungolfy (and the version on TIO was so outdated) that I only posted like 3 answers in it

I tried my hand at python golfing a few times
I ultimately realised that I have too much of a dependence on golfing languages to use practical languages for code golf

???

11:04 AM
@ophact everybody with a single-digit number of exceptions hates JavaScript

Clearly not the creators of JavaScript, which was clearly made by at least ten people.
Therefore, the number of exceptions is double-digit
not single-digit

@StackMeterPlus how does one have any number of exceptions?
How does a human have, say, a FileNotFoundError?

@lyxal Radvylf, Emanresu a and ophact all had an AssertException when they said assert Javascript == good

well they need to try harder

@lyxal ... and 18 vyxal challenges iirc
how do I have 3 votes left today?

can anyone check my prev 3 challenges in sandbox
cuz 2 of them got -1 so idk

this seems like a thing i could make an extended version of
i could add the digits 2-9 and then we could put character classes in there

Q: Factorials of primes decomposition

DialFrostYou have to decompose a positive integer/fraction as a product of powers of factorials of prime numbers.
