TIL why you don't let js formatters mess around with flask applications
they screw up the jinja template syntax completely

A flask application allows you to use python on the web
A jinja template lets you insert data from the python backend into the html
The way to do this is by surrounding the variable you want to insert with {{}} inside the actual HTML file
{{variable}} would insert whatever python had set variable to
I put my html file into one of those tools that formats html/javascript nicely
it ended up putting newlines between the {, the variable name and the }

Oh yes.

which made the template not work
which screwed my site up

Php also has those problems.

12:19 PM
the biggest problem with php is that you're using php

@rak1507 True.
[One of those accounts that shouldnhttps://codegolf.stackexchange.com/users/79092/cupcakes-delivered

lol my latin square solution got 8 upvotes, FGITW is so real
that's just ridiculous

@Ausername So long as they don't post, they're free to advertise in their profile

Still, why?

You can more or less (barring some very extreme examples) have anything in your profile, as no-one's "forced" to see it
If you post, you're actively spreading whatever your post says, and making others read/look at it

12:27 PM
But then why advertise on a programming site?
why do they think we want cupcakes delivered?
I might as well just go buy some locally than have them delivered from someone I saw on code golf

We have consistently shown that we think about food far too much :P
@user They have accounts on 41 different sites
Them having an account on Coffee.SE makes sense, but they don't have one on Cooking.SE :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing which is the one site I would expect to see them advertising on
I believe that is what one calls irony

@user I wouldn't trust a code golfer to make me food, probably golfed the recipe

@rak1507 golfing in chef I see?
You can save 5 bytes by not including butter
Or something I don't know I'm not a chef
Hello @Lyxal

too confusing
at least caird is still caird

12:32 PM
How do you know?

<whisper>I think the name swap is too much.</whisper>

<whisper>why so?</whisper>

<whisper>I don't know, I'm worried it'll mess stuff up over on non-TNB CGCC</whisper>

@rak1507 I couldn't change if I wanted to, at least not for 2 more weeks

good

12:34 PM
@Lyxal <whisper>it won't mess anything up at all</whisper>

s flag in vyxal is the cheatiest thing I've ever seen

<whisper>I'll keep it for now I guess but I might ask HN to switch me back if I get an RO position</whisper>

@rak1507 What does it do?

sums the stack

12:35 PM
I think Vyxal, my golfing language, needs more flags

I should probably make a program joiner...

It needs to be like scratch

@Lyxal Scratch has no flags

You're just not using it right then
I found a bunch according to this

nearly got me

12:37 PM
@Lyxal Damn it I clicked the link

@Lyxal good job but you didn't get me

I'll start being more stealthy again, but bit.ly makes you have an account

no it doesn't

For me it does
Oh wait
Frick

if you go to the homepage it doesn't make you sign up

12:39 PM
Just noticed that
@RedwolfPrograms How's Ash going?

Hey I should make a golfing language myself
@Lyxal has vyxal and @RedwolfPrograms has ash
I don't have one :(

Call it golflang. That's the kind of creativity I'd expect.

Well original is my middle name
@Lyxal <whisper>it's not a matter of if but when</whisper>

@user Nice try I'm not falling for that one.

@Ausername aww
Lyxal you need to teach me your ways

12:47 PM
You need to make a convincing reason for there to be a link in the first place
Don't make it the only option (like when linking to a gist), since that's an obvious rickroll choke point
But don't make it a random link for no reason

14 seconds to VTC the new off-topic post :D (link for vtcers)

Build up a story. Establish trust that the link will go where it needs to, without forcing the issue.
@cairdcoinheringaahing Frick
I clicked that without even thinking

@cairdcoinheringaahing wow

This is how you rickroll.
Apparently we should be taking lessons from caird

Applaud my supreme skill :D

12:49 PM
@Lyxal Wow Lyxal I thought you were good at this
I'm disappointed

I didn't expect it from caird :p
From myself, or maybe Redwolf, but not caird

@Lyxal <whisper>wrong answer.</whisper>

@cairdcoinheringaahing no, it's this :P

I dip into the Lyxal jokes from time to time :P The odd funny number, rickroll or "you're not X, you're Y"

Oh wait I need to leave for school go to sleep because it's late here in australia

12:51 PM
How dare you people talk so much

@Wezl we just like talking
It's fun
You should try it

you know what's more fun than talking
upvoting all of my posts

@rak1507 I second this being fun

@rak1507 instructions unclear. Ended up down voting instead :p

@user lol
damn wtf my rep nemesis now has over 5K rep
this is an outrage

@Ausername I was looking forward to seeing the new layout

need to get back to the apl bounty grind

Lol

@rak1507 who is this nemesis?

12:54 PM
@Ausername Arnauld should involve using bitwise lookup tables somehow

@user figure it out yourself

How would you do that

they don't know they're my nemesis

@rak1507 tell us who it is so we can give them bounties help

no

12:55 PM
I actually have made a png creator. I also added a `<meta http-equiv="refresh" content='0;url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ,0' />`.
`

bubbler should clearly sort using bubble sort

@rak1507 what do you want to be?

uhhhh idk

Q: How to fix an issue in PyPi Keyboard with Ctrl not being released (Windows)

Jason FyleI’ve come across a glitch, which results in Ctrl or Alt not being released after Right Ctrl + AltGr* are pressed simultaneously. This only occurs on Windows when you define a hotkey, which includes Alt or Ctrl and when you set it Suppress = True** as below: import keyboard keyboard.add_hotkey('c...

Adám should be "eval string as APL"
@NewMainPosts OP has an SO account, and has asked 2 questions there ಠ_ಠ

12:58 PM
Okay well I'm going to go for some reason

(Totally not 4am in australia)

Totally not because it's almost 11pm and I don't want to be awake anymore
Cya! ;)

Cya ;)

@NewMainPosts In the past I've used butter on my grilled cheese sandwiches, but I've corrected myself. Now, I fry cheese in the same pan and use only that grease. Unfortunately, I still have to use a small amount of butter to fry the cheese in the first place. Such is the nature of bootstrapping :/

fascinating

1:05 PM
Is C++ TMP considered a valid language for solving a puzzle?

Yes, absolutely
It might even beat regular C++!

I was thinking of some kind of pattern language when I saw the Typescript puzzle and C++ TMP is the one I happened to work with most recently

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

WezlCDGLF:APL2TMN code-golf parsing compiler string Basically take a subset of APL (only the math characters +-×÷⌈⌊ and ()⍺⍵1234567890, no operators and only single-digit numbers) and transform it into traditional math notation with operator precedence and ⌈exp becoming ⌈exp⌉.

@NewMainPosts vtd-pls

1:21 PM
Oh hi Lyxal
oh wait
Where's redwolf? Not awake yet?

2:05 PM
There are two Lyxals???

looks like 3 or something

I see 2

There's me, then there's the other one (ASCII I think)
We'd been discussing it in The day TNB became hell

has something happened to the original Lyxal, or do they still theoretically exist?

What original?

2:08 PM
There's ASCII-only (changed their name), Redwolf (pretending to be Lyxal) and the actual Lyxal (pretending to be user)

(obviously they don't actually exist if they're not in the TNB)

I don't trust you, what have you done to original Lyxal and Redwolf!!

We switched back actually
Redwolf was getting tired of the confusion

@Lyxal for some reason, I thought you would be reasonable >:|

It's early over there, probably still asleep

2:10 PM
> I'm going to do compressed memes, and be the opposite of Lyxal. Here's my first attempt: ♫ I'm going to commit to you and not making you sad. ♫

top 2% this year
I learned the basics of front-end web development 3 years ago, and have since purchased a server and began making games for fun. I like politics, but not politicians.

I'm mostly only active on Code Golf now. I've designed a few (not very popular) esolangs like Plumber, unsure, and dotcomma.

Working on a golfing language, Ash.

Oh I need to swap my about me back

no don't

We truly overdid this and it's wonderful

I umm...we swapped a lot of stuff (shifty glances)
I am Lyxal and I live in Australia and nobody ask any more questions

2:11 PM
why?
@Lyxal :)

hang on just a second here

Hi Redwolf!

@Lyxal Go to sleep then, it's tomorrow

Please tell them we are back to our original selves

@pxeger please stay reasonable and I'll give you a bounty

2:12 PM
@user You have Stack Exchange

I am happy you all have returned :)

@Wasif You're not happy, you're Wasif

@Lyxal Pretty good, any more ideas for operators?

I think you could overload shallow fill somewhere, that's useful too (but vectorization is still better :P)
CMQ: Which is funnier, 69 or 420?

No

@Lyxal nope nope nope nope nope

Personally I prefer 69 because it shows up more often in code golf

codegolf.meta.stackexchange.com/q/20722/90614 if anyone wants a simple user<->username mapping

420, I went to a hotel there all room numbers were appended with 420, I don't know why

I just noticed I have a rickroll open and I have no idea who rickrolled me

2:16 PM
Probably me
Why did I just get rickrolled? (the rickroll helpline)

It will never give you up, let you down, or run around and desert you
It won't make you cry, say goodbye, or tell a lie and hurt you

@Lyxal s/desert/dessert/#ftfy ::)

You've known each other for so long. A long term commitment is what you should be thinking of.

I have an idea for putting a rickroll into a SO answer (legitimately), but I need someone to make a question involving static variables first

2:18 PM
uhh???
BTW can someone make a userscript to change @RedwolfPrograms @user @Lyxal back to normal?

No
Actually I will
Just a sec

@pxeger Sure, I'm on it (seriously, I want to try making a userscript)

@RedwolfPrograms I'm pinging you because you created this mess and took on this responsibility for yourself

I'll do it

@pxeger They're going to change back as soon as the RO elections are done (so Tuesday)

2:19 PM
I guess I owe it to y'all

@Lyxal no you have lost the privilege

@cairdcoinheringaahing but you can only change your username once per month, can't you?

@RedwolfPrograms But you've created many userscripts

lmao

@pxeger Mods can do it whenever they want, and HN has said he'll change them when they ask

2:21 PM
oh ok

For some document.querySelectorAll(".username") works in the console here but not through my userscript

is it missing some permissions or something? Did you forget to print the output maybe?

No, it's printing an empty NodeList

Almost finished

I even deferred it until everything's parsed

2:28 PM
Finished
It's nice to be myself again
Some stuff like pinging's gonna be a bit weird though, keep that in mind

May I ask what the setInterval is for? So it runs after the document loads?

Yeah, and so new messages get updated
I don't know how to use MutationObserver like I actually should do

Oh
@Lyxal Lemme try that then. After all, I am Redwolf Programs, master of userscripts :P

The :P gives it away

2:31 PM
Redwolf always uses :p (except the :y as a joke but that got old)

:þ is the best and only valid emoticon

Yeah there ya go

@pxeger :⍉

:Ø is when you can't scream :P

2:32 PM
@RedwolfPrograms Ø !=

It's a quote from an old starred message :P

@pxeger Sorry, I only have an APL keyboard

How many people have the deconfrickulator installed?
Also I just now realized pxeger is regexp backwards :\

it's in the username post

That's where I saw it
Considering rotating my identicon 90°

2:40 PM
@Lyxal rotate it 1° a day instead
Is anyone able to help me set the dual of this question?

Q: Compress a sparse matrix

PureferretCompress a sparse matrix using Compressed sparse row (CSR, CRS or Yale format). These are all the same form of compression (ignore new Yale). Input may be any 2d data structure (list of lists, etc): e.g [[0 0 0 0], [5 8 0 0], [0 0 3 0], [0 6 0 0]] And the output should be three 1d data st...

brain too frazzzzzzeled to think most days these days

You could post in the Sandbox to get started

frazzeled
I could only write that one before as there were instructions on wikipedia
and even then it was in my pre-frazzel days

@AncientSwordRage I rolled back the leaderboard edit - the code isn't compressed into a "Hide snippet" link on mobile, making posts with them very inconvenient to view
@AncientSwordRage As in the inverse? I barely understand the process in the question, don't think I could help, sorry :(

@cairdcoinheringaahing huh? are you sure?
I wish I hadn't linked it here now...
@cairdcoinheringaahing yeah the inverse

@AncientSwordRage Yeah, both on the app and the mobile site it doesn't hide snippets

2:47 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing I don't use those on mobile, so I wouldn't have noticed

Besides, the leaderboards aren't really that helpful unless the challenge has multiple pages of answers

(not that I'm on mobile now)
I sort of deliberately don't use them, because of these reasons. Changing the content of a question to satisfy those two niche/specific use cases seems counter productive
I'd much rather leave them in, and make it a valid bug for SO to deal with, although I recognise it's unlikely to get fixed
that is fair

@AncientSwordRage One thing to note is that rollbacks don't bump questions on the active page, so it generally isn't disruptive to just rollback the edit that added them. I noticed some formatting stuff as well though, so I figured I'd just edit it anyway. The bump might bring in some new votes/answers

@AncientSwordRage Btw, some people use this userscript to automatically add a leaderboard to all questions, modified version with fewer changes

@RedwolfPrograms Ahhh cool! I can't run those at work

2:54 PM
i just tried opening the sandbox in the mobile app by accident

RIP your phone
Mine can handle clicking on the question, then "Browse your proposals", but cannot see a specific proposal

it just wouldn't load and the app stopped responding but i was able to close the app and keep using my phone :p

the mobile app crashes for me regularly... I thought it was broken/unsupported now?

Yeah, it's only really good for browsing questions and getting notifications. Any interaction through the app isn't recommended

I can't even click a notification and get it to go through properly... and even then it doesn't support chat notifications

3:13 PM
Wezl could be:
WAIT Wait
WBINVD Write Back and Invalidate Cache
WRFSBASE Write FS/GS Segment Base
WRGSBASE Write FS/GS Segment Base
WRMSR Write to Model Specific Register
WRPKRU Write Data to User Page Key Register

@AncientSwordRage Here's a Sandbox post to get you started. I don't understand how to do the inverse so I just copied your description :P

@Lyxal bruh
this is a massive disappointment to all lyxals everywhere

Sorry I couldn't filter it
It's your fault you made things confusing :p

* Wezl briefly considers becoming ASCII-only
* Wezl briefly (but a little bit longer) considers becoming "joking"

@RedwolfPrograms thanks

3:25 PM
* hyper-neutrino strongly advises not impersonating a mod (or anyone non-consensually)

@AncientSwordRage Note that that's not actually Redwolf Programs though (I am I think)
It's confusing

wdym "you think" o.O

I haven't the slightest clue any more, who I am or who any of y'all are :P

3:34 PM
@Lyxal wdym
All of you are me

Or me

Or @user
Oops, I was just pinging myself, totally didn't mean to ping you, @user

I can't wait for April 20th

@Lyxal What happens then?

discipline election over

3:35 PM
I go back to being Redwolf
and we pretend this never happened

Why not do it sooner?
@Wezl Oh ok

I guess we could swap, so you'd be Lyxal and I'd be myself again

Huh?
You realize I'm user, not Lyxal, right?

Well that way you and Lyxal can still be swapped but I won't. Not sure if Lyxal wants to swap back yet.
If you want to as well we could all just revert it I guess

I mean, Lyxal and I could both be users

3:38 PM
True

Double the confusion fun

And we can mess with Lyxal and pretend I'm still you

Good idea (now delete your message!)

i think lyxal (redwolf) is suggesting that you (redwolf (user)) and them (lyxal (redwolf)) swap so you (redwolf (user)) are now lyxal (user) and user (lyxal) keeps how they are so now lyxal (user) and user (lyxal) are swapped but redwolf (redwolf) is back to being themselves
8
that was the most confusing message i've typed in a while

@hyper-neutrino Get used to it :P :p

3:39 PM
wait
what do i show up as

@RedwolfPrograms Is it fine if I go ahead and get swapped back to being Redwolf?

Go ahead
I changed my pfp to Lyxal's already

I've swapped mine too

@Lyxal (ASCII-only) How'd you change your name? It tells me I can only change my name once every month even on other sites

3:46 PM
@hyper-neutrino Can we get our names swapped? I think I'd become Redwolf and the current Redwolf would become Lyxal
Sorry for all the name changes we're making you do, this'll be the last one I do

@RedwolfPrograms if you change your name on different sites, you can switch your parent user to change your chat display name

@RedwolfPrograms non-sitewide

Yep, I did it only for that community
SE just doesn't like me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@hyper-neutrino Thanks!
It's nice being myself again

Oh ok I'm Lyxal

3:48 PM
okay so redwolf is now redwolf and user and lyxal are just simply swapped
this is a lot easier to track

@RedwolfPrograms You're not myself ...

@hyper-neutrino No, user and lyxal are user and lyxal
Get it right stoopid
:p

well yes, but actually no

i
bruh
frick
i just finished fixing the userscript

The userscript is correct

3:51 PM
Nobody ever noticed that my userscript swapped the names the wrong way :(

I didn't even notice you made a userscript for this memery

Is the madness finally over?

Yep! All three of us are back to normal.
I like JS and SQL is garbage.
I mildly dislike scala.
I don't think 69 is a funny number.

Okay here's how we were swapped: I'm Redwolf Programs, user is lyxal, and Redwolf is user

@RedwolfPrograms Lyxal and user are still swapped

3:56 PM
@RedwolfPrograms Why?
@RedwolfPrograms Why?

Are you going to do these again in future?

@cairdcoinheringaahing No, lyxal and user are lyxal and user
@Wasif No way
2

The last two aren't true I just know user and Lyxal would never be able to say them

I love the numbers 69 and 420

But i am still thinking who is the duplicate Lyxal, user is missing

@Wasif user is in Australia

@Lyxal I never have seen you here at this time..... also you have rised to the top of chat activity, pushing caird and Redwolf away
