@Poke Fun fact, when I was in college, the CS department (who was halfway integrated with the IT department) had a server named PONG -- its sole responsibility was to function as a network connectivity test. It had multiple interfaces and was technically "on" every logically separated network.
If I remember right, it was some minified Linux distro that they compiled from scratch. Essentially it had only the basics needed to perform that function.
I'm looking at the specs for the esolang Memfractal, and there doesn't seem to be a clear description of where execution starts, how input/output happens, or even what order the "bits" should be read from the fractal when considering memory.
