hi all

hi part of all

@downgoat can you help me with my site?

8:25 AM
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Want to play?

@thepiercingarrow With RSA encryption?
In the Sandbox?

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 sure

Maybe not?

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 No?

I am having problems with decryption of your messages.

8:27 AM
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 last time it worked though, right?
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Do you want to do crosswords?

@thepiercingarrow Nope.
@thepiercingarrow Ohh, I want to.

I'm still following you.

Because you don't trust my advice, and very dirtily follow @thepiercingarrow's.

What is your advice?
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Maybe you can give it now when @thepiercingarrow is not here?
Okay then.

@Maltysen (and @flawr): I just realized that since a**(b**(c**d)) mod m == a**(b**(c**d) mod phi(m)) mod m == a**(b**(c**d mod phi(phi(m))) mod phi(m)) mod m (and likewise for higher towers), at some point, dependent on m, any additional exponents in the power tower will have no effect on the final result, because at some point phi(phi(... m ... )) will be 1, and anything mod 1 is 0.

Is taking the number as a string argument bending the rules a bit too much? — Dom Hastings 56 secs ago

Not really. Especially not in coercion languages.

A string is not a number
if you can't concatenate numbers together, then that's your language's problem, convert to string in your code

I was wondering why the clone of the cheddar github page was taking so long.... Downgoat committed the node modules folder

@Quill seriously?

I'm doing some moderator work for another website, and I just used the phrase "we won't make any community announcement" in one of my emails.... >_>

@PhiNotPi Fluther, eh?

Yeah.
I just think it's funny, since it implies that we're doing something supa-secret.

I should introduce conlangs to Shwa.

12:31 PM
Alright now, let's stop with shouting "HELLO"s.

@Downgoat add me as a member for the static cheddar site so I can commit the REPL

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 It's not shouting, they're just... larger

@Quill Or just do a pull request. These always work. >_> /sarc

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I kinda broke my commits

How do you convert the name "Shwa" to Lojban? :/

Matthew RohIn Privileges, It says creating posts is a privilege limited with 1 reputation. Then If someone's reputation drops to 0, can't he create posts?

@Downgoat I thought everything was supposed to use lambda syntax (i.e. no function syntax)

@NewMetaPosts LOL. The least rep you can get is 1.

Why do all of the "multi phone application frameworks" involve JS

@quartata Xamarin doesn't

Ooh what does that use?

It's part of the .NET stack

Eh good enough

1:16 PM
I think you have to do some native code for some features, but a majority of the code is written in C#

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 cmenes are spelled phonetically so .cua.

@quartata ki'e =)

Sigh. Sometimes I just can't do the things I want to do. private static int counter { get { return counter++; } }

I want a counter that increments whenever you ask for it and has no setter, but then it can't even set itself

1:28 PM
what if you put a = 0 on that?
@Rainbolt

What do you mean?

private static int counter = 0 { get { return counter++; } }

Only auto implemented properties can have initializers
Anyway, initializing it isn't the problem. It's incrementing it

private static int _mycounter = 0;
public static int count { get { return _mycounter++; }}

facepalm that's it

1:32 PM
@TùxCräftîñg The site takes time to publish. 10-15 mins.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 ok

However, according to your commit history, it took longer than that.

It doesn't stop people inside of the class from using the private variable, but it probably discourages it

and there really isn't much as far as in-class protection
but yeah

I could make a private class inside of the class and put the counter into it
Then nobody outside can use it, and nobody inside can mess with the backing field

1:34 PM
can classes not modify inner private classes?

I didn't think they could... let me try

I know that in Java, they can

ajax do't work with github.io visibly

Nope, they can't
Defined Foo with a private int bar. Created a new Foo() and try to modify the bar. Didn't compile.
Wow... missed pun opportunities there.

A foo and a baz walked into a private intbar

1:38 PM
Did they order a float?

can inner classes access outer private properties?

@NathanMerrill Huh. You're right about Java though. This compiled:
public class Outer {
    private class Inner { private int i; }
    public Outer() {
        Inner inner = new Inner();
        inner.i = 1;
    }
}
@NathanMerrill In C# or Java?

I'll check

1:39 PM
Java you can

@NathanMerrill Yes, they can.

basically public/private means nothing if you are in the same file in Java

@NathanMerrill Well that's not true even in Java
For example, this does not compile:
public class Outer {
    public Outer() {
        Inner inner = new Inner();
        inner.i = 1;
    }
}
class Inner { private int i; }

that's because you have two adjacent classes in the same file
that's not allowed

It is allowed

1:40 PM
are they both inner classes?

12123232A rather stupid question, why can we see the moon when it is between the Earth and the Sun?

oh, looked it up
interesting, you can only have 1 public class per file

@Maltysen Wow

@Maltysen the drawings in the question are betters than i can draw

I have a KoTH idea. Basically, there is a 2d toroidal world, and you own a blob, which can grow by 1 square each turn (from one of its points in a cardinal direction)

Interesting

if you grow onto another blob, you get that square
and if you cut a blob in two, you absorb the smaller portion

3:34 PM
okay
so basically never ending snake?
or tron
So tron but you slice light trails in half and absorb them.

no, you can grow from any point

@Quill added you to website team

What happens if two different blobs cut a third one in two?

moves are all sequential

3:38 PM
in two hours you guys should tune in to twitch.tv/gamesdonequick

player order is randomized

tetris pros exhibition
trust me it's insane

As in, there is a line through c composed of a's parts and b's parts

the line doesn't matter, only the single square
aka
ccccc
aacbb
ccccc

But what happens to c if a or b finishes that line?

3:39 PM
if a goes next and absorbs the middle c square, a gets one of the two blobs (randomized because they are the same size)

Does one of a or b absorb it?

but if b goes next, then they get it
it depends on the turn order

I see
So whoever finishes the cut gets the section
