3:00 PM
Who's Trolly McTrollface?

user207712
@zyabin101 haven't even started, going to create a git page

user207712
@MarsUltor var input = new Matrix(string)

user207712
Matrix.find()

@Solver Oh, so basically it's a JS library?

user207712
@MarsUltor Basically, yeah, but calling it a lang to get around standard loopholes

user207712
3:02 PM
@ArtOfCode no idea

@VTCAKAVSMoACE No one actually knows JS, they just code in it.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ @VTCAKAVSMoACE Yes, I did. IT's a TF2 quality.

@TimmyD define 'know'.

@TimmyD I know JS intimately.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Is the Vintage part based from his name?

3:03 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Nope.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Like, Biblical "know" or ...

@Mego @VTCAKAVSMoACE how did you get Data to access the interwebs?
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ okai
@TimmyD v

@TimmyD disapproves

user207712
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Can you help me then?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Witchcraft and buffoonery.

3:03 PM
no seriously pls

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ You're the one that added "intimately" to your sentence

I have no clue

:p

I have installed the chrome ubuntu binaries but it no wurk on c9

user207712
chrome ubuntu binaries wtf so like .exe or .dll

3:04 PM
no
turned out binaries don't exist I installed source code

user207712
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ are you good at JS?

user207712
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ lol

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ

user207712
:(

3:04 PM
@Solver yes
@TimmyD :P

he is, and pinging him mostly works

user207712
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ okay, so i have an idea for a language

@Solver Downgoat/Conor are

And molarmanful I think

user207712
3:05 PM
Oh yeah, I should recruit downgoat

Yeah, @Downgoat is js addict lover addict.

user207712
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ wait a sec going to make chatroom...

> addict addict

yeah, that is the best term.

user207712
3:06 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ oh wait i cant. Conor, can you create one called MatrixScript?

user207712
not enough rep, u see

Bas
How much rep do you need for that? 100?

@ArtOfCode Uhh does the new admin panel strip out <styles> and <divs>?

3:11 PM
Where is teh chatgoat source?

Yeah, it does. Why?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Pls delete repo, recreate and push source sanitized from passwords and emails.

-1 for Selenium -10 million for using the Opera driver
@ArtOfCode Can you make it so that clicking on the notifications drop down clears them
also we need rep notifications

@quartata yep

3:16 PM
What's the thing called that you click on little up/down arrows on the side to increase/decrease the number in the dialog box?

@ArtOfCode Why?
@ANerd-I voting

@quartata In terms of programming (What do I google to figure out how to make one)

@ANerd-I voting system
@ArtOfCode I mean, we allow <p> so I don't see what harm <div> could do
To be honest we should just sanitize all HTML out

@quartata because I never added it to the whitelist

but I may or may not wanted to make the question box rotate like crazy as a joke demonstrating why we should sanitize all HTML out

3:18 PM
which he did... sorta

In the asking/answering guidance, we need HTML to make the formatting work
lists and that

or parse it as markdown

but Markdown can do those

anyways just add style and div to the whitelist so I can make my masterpiece

3:19 PM
@quartata True, but we'll still need the HTML sanitizer

@ArtOfCode Right

@quartata How do I pass left and right arguments to jelly on TIO?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ add two arguments
press the plus button again

user207712
@ArtOfCode how did your HTML sanitizer go?

3:20 PM
Actually, the input for that is a single-line input field, which MD won't like... easier just to leave it as HTML

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Also, I suggest you use the Slack API for Bot Users.

@Solver working fine, no more XSS

@ArtOfCode Oh fair enough

user207712
@ArtOfCode how does it work? Source pleez.

Admins should know enough HTML to make it work :)
@Solver Libraries :)

user207712
3:21 PM
oh okay

I make a call to sanitize, the library does the rest.

@quartata That's getting closer. Is there a name for a voting system that occurs ina dialog box that you click on arrows to increment/decrement the number shown in the box?

user207712
anyway I'm going to do fancy 11 year old work

user207712
like get to grips with MVC :(

28 commits behind? Whoa Art has been busy

user207712
3:22 PM
@quartata on what?

though there's a different whitelist for answers, comments, and questions

@Dennis Argument removal is broken on IE on TIO. Object doesn't support property or method 'remove'; File: frontend.js, Line: 15, Column: 39

@quartata Yeah, I closed all the open issues this morning.
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ it's IE, everything breaks :P
tell your school to get better browsers

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Also if you are planning to only add commands, use the Slack API for Slash Commands.

@ArtOfCode They forbid the downloading of browsers et all for fear of "viruses".

3:23 PM
I'd say I told mine to and they did, but I'd be lying.
I did it for them with my admin account :)
"let's just install Chrome here for absolutely everyone"

People do that on their own :P
I'm supposed to uninstall it by force >:|

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Yeah, the one thing our IT techs managed to get correctly locked down was forbidding running executables from anywhere but C:\Program Files (and x86) or the network.

@ArtOfCode I'm stupid and can't find the method for creating notifications

so you could download a browser, but you couldn't run it
@quartata User#create_notification(content, link)

It's user.createNotification right?
oops

3:26 PM
IIRC
It's good when you know a codebase well enough that you can just quote method signatures off the top of your head :)

@ArtOfCode The students are our IT. sighs That makes me (unfortunately) the most knowledgeable amongst the students.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ (╯°□°)╯︵ ƎI

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ snap. Now upgrade your account to network admin, and everything is fine.
Install Chrome for everyone.

@ArtOfCode They wont let students do that. siiiiighs
@ArtOfCode And Firefox ftw.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Neither will mine, but... they're dumb and didn't notice me doing it.

3:27 PM
IE is great and does all things.

17 hours ago, by ArtOfCode
Like how do you not notice a kid bypassing UAC dialogs, going into the network control software and clicking Make Admin?

@ArtOfCode Haha, nice. We have monitoring on our tablets. I could try setting up a scrambler of some sort, but I really don't know how I'd go about doing that.

@TimmyD ... even when you don't want it to :P

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Heh. So do we. It's bad, I uninstalled it, and they didn't notice.

3:29 PM
@ArtOfCode I'd do that, except we have to return our tablets :|

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Just move it?

My sister, on the other hand... uninstalled it on a jailbroken iPad, they noticed and factory reset it to try to fix it. Which totally bricks jailbroken iPads.

@MarsUltor They'll notice
@ArtOfCode gg

I spent most of Saturday fixing it for her :P

That's nice of you

3:29 PM
@ArtOfCode How should I get a link to a post?

@quartata a what now?
oh
url_for(:controller => :questions, :action => :show, :id => @question.id)

If I have a Question or Answer object
how do I get the link to it
for the notification

ah

3:31 PM
or if it's an answer

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ bai

url_for(:controller => :questions, :action => :show, :id => @answer.question.id)

@ArtOfCode Oh, oops

or you can just construct it as a string

one second don't accept that pr yet

3:33 PM
"/questions/#{@question.id}"
"/questions/#{@answer.question.id}"
the latter being shorter, the former being more robust if the routes change

Will just post.id work if its an answer?
Using url_for that is
I'm guessing not

After some significant optimisation, I have iteration 5...

@quartata nope
you'd need post.question.id

@trichoplax how long?

3:35 PM
@ArtOfCode ok

@ArtOfCode Previously, 4 was taking 50 minutes, now takes about 6. This one (5) took about 5 minutes but it is scaled down to half size compared with the others

@ArtOfCode check your prs and issues

@quartata already looking at 'em :P

@trichoplax That's really neat looking. I want to print it out and color it.

@TimmyD Lol feel free. I may even be able to produce higher iterations now my code isn't exponential...

3:38 PM
@trichoplax All one strand?

@trichoplax at 4730 square, it ain't exactly small.

@El'endiaStarman Indeed it is

That's really cool.

@ArtOfCode I keep the line thickness constant, so each iteration roughly doubles the height and width. I'm still trying to decide what scale to settle on for the challenge.
@El'endiaStarman Thanks! I'm more pleased with it that my hand drawn one :)

@trichoplax 1px lines
So it runs faster

3:40 PM
@MarsUltor 4 pixels so the outer lines are 1 pixel?

@quartata am I good to merge?

user207712
@trichoplax sierpensinki wow!

@trichoplax Probably - you may want to try to generate one, to see if it's easily visible

or were you going to add mod/admin symbols to that one too?

@Solver Thanks - it's going to be a challenge once I settle on the details

user207712
3:42 PM
@trichoplax @everyone plz check this out i made it khanacademy.org/computer-programming/new-program/…

user207712
@trichoplax about wat

@Solver It will be a

user207712
@trichoplax did u see the link????

@ArtOfCode go ahead and merge I'll do that one later

@quartata cool
merged, waiting for SSH before I can deploy

3:44 PM
@Solver Are you asking me about the message your reply is pointed to?

user207712
@trichoplax pleez say it is good i am only 11 so it is good for 11 year old

@Solver Wait, really?

user207712
@MarsUltor yes

@Solver I was looking at your other message - only just opened this one. The chaos game method of drawing the Sierpinski Triangle? I love that. I hadn't even heard of it when I was 11...

3:46 PM
TIL there's someone younger than Easterly Irk here

user207712
@MarsUltor but i am not breaching coppa i have been account nuked once already.

@ArtOfCode oh oops I should add the question title to the notification

user207712
@trichoplax Like it? I used to leave it running for ages and look at it afterwards...

deployed

user207712
@MarsUltor yes i know he's 13

user207712
3:48 PM
@ArtOfCode help pleez help

Heh. @quartata it broke

@Solver It works with other polygons too - here's one with a pentagon

user207712
@trichoplax lemme try code that...

@Solver One of the things I love about the Sierpinski triangle is there are so many different ways to draw the same thing. The chaos game is my favourite - it sounds like it shouldn't work but the image just appears...

@ArtOfCode 1. what went wrong 2. can you do a recalc

3:51 PM
You should be able to use pretty much the same code, just with 5 points instead of 3.

user207712
@trichoplax hmm i cant really because i need points of a pentagon on a cartesian plane.

@quartata 1. go vote on something

@Solver Use sin/cos to find the points

user207712
@MarsUltor errr, explain?

@ArtOfCode oh so that is why I can infinitely unupvote things

3:53 PM
@quartata I fixed it, the .is_a? call failed

user207712
@trichoplax you know I discovered my own fractal?

user207712
@trichoplax at least I think so

@Solver How does it work?

Make the center (200, 200), then have x_center+sin(angle) + y_center+cos(angle) as one point
Repeat for every point

user207712
@trichoplax I wrote a scratch program to chaos game draw the sierpensink triangle....

3:55 PM
@ArtOfCode can you do a recalc

PhiNotPi's answer to the symbols question is a good one
@quartata done

@Solver Oh - I thought you meant you had discovered a new invention...

user207712
@trichoplax wait a second....

I don't know if I like rep notifications...

user207712
@trichoplax totally see this imgur.com/NyniRcL

user207712
3:58 PM
@trichoplax good for 11 year old right?

crap
Hey, at least it's not 75% CPU anymore.

@ArtOfCode do they even work? I haven't gotten any

@quartata yeah, I've had some

user207712
@trichoplax did u see - i want public opinion

@Solver I like it. Does it use an Iterated Function System?

user207712
4:01 PM
@trichoplax it's chaos game that i created by accident

@Solver Really? Chaos game meaning choosing a random point to move towards? I didn't realise you could make shapes like that with chaos

user207712
@trichoplax i am using a triangle. if u want i will give you a snip of the scratch code

user207712
gtg

@MarsUltor Due to the irrational aspect ratio of the shape, the get lines a minimum of 1 pixel thick, most lines need to be thicker. I prefer thicker lines so a 1 pixel difference doesn't show up so much. I need to find a compromise inbetween somewhere - lines thick enough to look even but also thin enough to make running time practical

4:04 PM
@ArtOfCode Imma edit rep and comment notifications to include the name of the post in a bit

@trichoplax 3-5px then?

but yay they work

@quartata sure. I might add a setting to turn them off, 'cos I'm not sure I like them

Well SE has them too...

4:05 PM

also how do I clear all notifications

user207712
@trichoplax non-trivial?

I like how the asymmetry makes it appear slightly 3D.

user207712
@quartata click on all of them

@MarsUltor The thickness difference is still noticeable but not so jarring now

4:06 PM
@ArtOfCode lol

@quartata yeah, but not in the same box

That's pretty great.

@Solver You want the same thickness lines at a higher iteration?

There we are, setting added.

@El'endiaStarman Yes this seems to be near the limit - much thinner and it just looks broken and gaps start appearing in the thinner lines...

4:08 PM
Leaving them on for now, though.

Ooh, tryapl.org now supports keyboard input!

Mystery Founder Of Bitcoin Comes Forward - sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2016/05/02/…

@HelkaHomba Wow - that actually sounds conclusive - I was expecting another vague guess

4:15 PM
He's Australian, so I can only assume he's @Sp3000 as well.
3

@HelkaHomba Whoa! Never thought we would ever find out.

@ArtOfCode oh god
done it

@HelkaHomba Why not Quill?

@VTCAKAVSMoACE spent a good few minutes laughing

The other theory I'd heard that made sense was that is was Paul Le Roux.

4:19 PM
@MorganThrapp That guy made TrueCrypt? o_o wipes hard drive and steps away slowly

@VTCAKAVSMoACE Not completely, but sort of.

TrueCrypt is/was sooooo good.
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ this message has no text for me

@QPaysTaxes Aye, a few people have said that. What about the pair at the ends of the lines in my answer here?

Wait, hold on, is ? a quine in Dyalog APL?

@QPaysTaxes Right, so HTML entities don't help either. Those are out, then. What about PhiNotPi's answer?
@QPaysTaxes awesome

4:28 PM
@ArtOfCode Did you see my answer on that question?

@QPaysTaxes the EOL pair in my answer are.
&#9929 and &#9930
@QPaysTaxes I have seen cases where it helps, though.
i.e. if you use IE, it hates the literals but it'll render the entities just fine

I think we need to add IE to the regex that tests if something would be starred.

We did, that's just one of the ways.
Is the starry-eyed bot currently running?

@ArtOfCode no

shame

4:30 PM
@ArtOfCode Which bot?

Well we'll just use something that most people have then.
could do, but cost:reward is much higher for those

@ArtOfCode Which bot?

@zyabin101 the starry-eyed one
'eleven that message'
...the irony

@QPaysTaxes For good or for awesome?

4:45 PM
@MarsUltor Interesting - they look close

@QPaysTaxes Shouldn't you declare it in the header?

@zyabin101 What?

@Doorknob If you made that one Wheel of Blame for PPCG, you should have known that it's rigged so it's always Geobits to be blamed.
While you're at it, I have never got an answer to this question: How do you read a Babble program out loud?

@zyabin101 If I did what? What are you talking about?

4:53 PM
@zyabin101 Yeah I didn't make that

@Doorknob Then who made it?

> Spork
> And on the 8th day, God decided that Adam and Eve needed a multipurpose silverware item. Thus, the spork, a combination of the prongede wrath of the fork and the carrying capacity of the spoon. Sporks are thought to be the most holiest of silverware. They are the only ones possible of freeing us from the evil clutches of the finger foods. There only weakness is that they can't stay outside after 12:00 on the night of the summer solstice.

@zyabin101 Everybody knows it's rigged to always blame me. That's the joke.
No it's not. I said it just earlier today while he was here.
4 hours ago, by Geobits
Yea, it always does ;)
