@Dennis Could you pull Actually pretty please?

Do you actually want him to?

Anonymous
I seriously do

Seriously?

Seriously v4 should be called 4REAL

@Mego Done. <insert pun here>

6:21 AM
In other news, I have spent the last hour and a half trying to understand MATL, and I'm no better off than when I started.
=(

hello

Hai!

@user777 Bonjour.

hi all
has anyone done a "pawns only chess" challenge?

0
Q: Scale up an image!

Kenny LauYour task is to write a program/function to scale up an image (list of strings) by a factor of n. Specs You will receive two inputs: an image, and a positive integer. The image will only contain ASCII printable characters (U+0020-U+007F). Scoring This is code-golf. Shortest solution in byte...

6:27 AM
@Mego Are there any major differences between Seriously and Actually yet?

Seriously, there ain't actually any difference

push n to reg0 I don't remember registers being in Seriously. >.>

I am guessing not :)
would anyone be interested in such a challenge?

6:36 AM
@Lembik Yes.

@Lembik There's this, but whether it's a duplicate depends on what the goal of your challenge will be.

@user81655 thanks
I meant an actual chess engine but the start position has only 8 pawns on each side and nothing else

Anonymous
6:55 AM
Oh huh, I didn't even bother looking for dupes before I started my answer :P

@Lembik Sounds interesting. Is the challenge to make an AI? If so would it be scored by king of the hill?

@Mego While you're at it trying to get the most of your code covered, I can suggest Coveralls.
They check only relevant lines. :P And they work with your CI.
Also:
> self.assert_serious()
You Seriously call your serious test method assert_serious()? lol

7:31 AM
@user81655 yes exactly

me on a holiday with my family

user207712
lol ^^^

8:15 AM
Is it generally accepted to edit a question to suggest an improvement to the question? I.e. the edit slightly changes the nature of the question but has "better rules".

user207712
@Cyoce Not really. But you can propose an edit (I think)

@Solver This was someone else's proposed edit and I was unsure as to whether that was ok.

user207712
@Solver If it's not your question, don't edit.

user207712
@zyabin101 Can you teach me seriously?

@Solver Yup. Just write something in a file and run Seriously on it. :P

Anonymous
8:21 AM
@Cyoce If it clarifies the challenge, it's probably a good edit. If it adds or removes restrictions, it's probably not.

user207712
Okay, i'll try :P

The official online interpreter for this is seriously.tryitonline.net.

user207712
@Cyoce what mego said.

user207712
@zyabin101 I know.

@Solver protip: you can golf that down to ^

user207712

Anonymous
@Solver If you want to learn Seriously, you might try contacting the language's creator, as the docs are woefully incomplete right now.

user207712
True. Who made the language? I am good at writing docs.

Anonymous
Hi.

@Solver It's @Mego. ~_~
@Mego how's Coveralls? Or you didn't try?

@Solver can you write docs for a language of mine?

user207712
8:24 AM
Yes, I can.

user207712
(DOC REQUEST OVERLOAD)

@Solver (YOU SHOULD HAVE RUN A STRESS TEST BEFORE OFFERING DOC REQUESTS TO THE PUBLIC)

user207712
@Cyoce No, I'm actually fine. I've done all my homework.

user207712
So, Mego, teach me Seriously

8:37 AM
Pretzel is getting weird. It's looking like the shortest hello, world program will be something like ”7’0, ’1!
Except they probably won't be 0 and 1

Anonymous
@Solver Actually (aka Seriously v2) is the better language to start with, because it's much more powerful. They both are stack-based languages, which means that all data is stored on a stack, and the various one-byte commands modify the stack. See commands.txt for a full listing.

@Mego is seriously v3 gonna be named "rly" ?

Anonymous
@Cyoce The names list I'm probably going to use is Seriously, Actually, Really, Definitely, Surely, Finally

@Mego so I was right (excluding that mine was an abbreviation)

Anonymous
@Dennis Pull Actually again pretty please?

user207712
8:45 AM
@Mego ah okay

@Cyoce edit: that's not it. It would be a compressed version of that (the algorithm isn't implemented yet so I can't generate it)

user207712
@Mego so your own encoding? some of the symbols do not have functions??

Anonymous
@Solver It's code page 437 for the encoding. Some of the symbols don't have commands yet, yes. It's still a work in progress.

Anonymous
I have a list of commands to implement that I've been working through.

user207712
Okay. @Mego I think I can get some docs written in mini-markdown, and you can then upload them somewhere.

8:55 AM
@Mego Then v6 = Obviously, which is allocated by another cool esolang.

user207712
@Mego Impressively?

Anonymous
@Solver That would be fantastic. Take a look at the docs branch; Sherlock9 has been working on some there. Just submit a pull request to that branch with what you write up.

@quartata whassat?

@ArtOfCode how's QPixel going?
I see that my account was nuked :(

@zyabin101 should have markdown support in an hour or two
@zyabin101 oh, that was me screwing up and deleting the entire database - everyone got nuked, not just you :)

9:06 AM
Also, delete the beep on the Ask Question page.
I created account again.

Im on an iPad, I can't get to the setting to remove it :)
Gimme a while to wake up and get some coffee so I'm not a blithering idiot, then I'll get to it :)

9:30 AM
@QPixel/admins wai add rickroll ;_;

Also, Adnan still has 10000216 reputation on QPixel.

user207712
9:50 AM
waffles :P

user207712
I like potato waffles

user207712
oh thx for admin @ArtOfCode

user207712
The silence rules.

@ArtOfCode ಠ_ಠ Not using the CDN
For mp3s
Also
The time is inaccurate D: post dates are comparing UTC to local time
Or something

10:17 AM
@MarsUltor Yeah, it displays in UTC. It's weird, but I don't know how to fix it.
Okay, deploying Markdown support. If everything breaks, it was me.

@ArtOfCode :D
@ArtOfCode BTW, the session css identifier things are a bit long

Aaaaand it's broken. @quartata it don't work D:
...wait.
Did you only add it to answers?
Yep.
...
that's not even more broken at all
\o/ markdown support deployed
Reps recalculated at current values.

user207712
@Mego are you there?

...we are also open to XSS right now. Fun.

user207712
Can someone help me with Git?

10:31 AM
@Solver I can try

user207712
I created a new branch

user207712
and committed a change

@ArtOfCode The time is formatted wrong

user207712
Then I sent a pull request to master

@MarsUltor "Ikr."

10:32 AM
@MarsUltor see: the past twelve hours in here :P
UTC timestamps don't play nice with everyone's different timezones

user207712
and it says Sync failed to push local changes - It seems you do not have permission to push your changes to this repo

user207712
Then it says validation failed. :(

@Solver How are you doing this? From Git itself, or from the web interface?

@ArtOfCode Use ISO-8601 or JS date numbers (+new Date())

@MarsUltor eh? They're just plain DB timestamps, but in the GMT zone. Livestamp is handling live-updates, and the "x hours ago/in x hours" is done with Moment.

10:35 AM
@ArtOfCode I made a formatting sandbox and testing answer, and in that answer, after the bolded "Hello, World!" the paragraph split in half.

user207712
@ArtOfCode Github Desktop.

@ArtOfCode Yeah, Livestamp.js doesn't accept any other format

@Solver it's terrible :P
I suggest using the web interface

Use Git GUI

@zyabin101 linky winky?

10:36 AM
@ArtOfCode That's probably why the times are off

@MarsUltor Yeah, that's exactly why they're off. Neither Livestamp nor Moment is doing any timezone adjustment.

@ArtOfCode No, it's because Livestamp is interpreting it as ISO-8601

user207712
@ArtOfCode yes, trying to :P

Also, the XSS struck me on that XSS testing question.

user207712
10:37 AM
@MarsUltor GUI?

user207712
@zyabin101 how do you prevent XSS again?

user207712
i know what XSS is

@Solver idk

@zyabin101 totally normal, you've got >2 linebreaks, that makes a new paragraph

Suddenly, 51 rep appeared from nowhere!

user207712
10:44 AM
@zyabin101 oh yeah you escape dangerous chars

@Solver nah you get an HTML sanitizer

@ArtOfCode is created_at a Time?

just strip the entire tag
@MarsUltor timestamp I believe

user207712
@ArtOfCode lel

2016-05-02 12:15:17 UTC
^ that's what comes out into the HTML
Sun, 01 May 2016 20:46:40 UTC +00:00
^ that's what's in the database
I prefer 2016-05-01T20:46:40.000000Z myself, but hey

10:47 AM
then you might need to use .to_time.iso8601 or .to_time.to_i?

What HTML tags do I need to allow for sane markdown?

Wait, what?
@ArtOfCode ?

@MarsUltor What for? I've got the timestamps working, I just need to add timezone support.

@ArtOfCode But shouldn't timezones be clientside?

@MarsUltor I'm trying to work out a whitelist of HTML tags for the sanitizer. What tags need to be in it?

10:49 AM
@ArtOfCode Wait a sec

@MarsUltor probably
but how I don't know

@ArtOfCode Pretty sure Livestamp should handle it

@MarsUltor apparently not :)

@ArtOfCode Well, the date isn't in a format it supports

Ah, now I get you.

10:51 AM
@Doorknob I'm making a conlang. :) I'm sorta a llamah.

Q: What HTML tags are allowed on Stack Exchange sites?

Jeff AtwoodThe Stack Overflow site engine, as you know, uses Markdown for questions and answers. Per the Markdown specification, you are allowed to freely intermix HTML and Markdown tags. Not all HTML tags are allowed, as that would be an XSS paradise. Which HTML tags have been whitelisted and are allowed ...

@ArtOfCode sane markdown?
What does markdown have to do with HTML tags?
Shouldn't markdown be postprocessed or something?
As in input -> sanitize -> markdown-ify -> output

@MarsUltor I'm gonna do it the other way. Render markdown -> html, sanitize that, output it.

Why?

10:54 AM
'cos that's the easiest way

How is that easier?

Rails
shrug

@ArtOfCode Somehow, 51 rep appeared from nowhere! What gives?

Okey doke going down for a minute to put that support in
Success!
@zyabin101 I ran a recalc
I ran it again, so if anything changes this is now the correct value
Do we want limited Markdown in comments too?

@ArtOfCode The logo is a bit hard to see because the header background color is too similar
@ArtOfCode Yes

11:04 AM
@ArtOfCode Yes

@MarsUltor Yeah, that's not the original logo. Can't remember who did it, but it was someone here.
That's the original logo

11:16 AM
@MarsUltor you said something about a CDN a while ago...
also comment markdown deployed

@ArtOfCode Yeah, the audio file is probably better off on a cdn (use cdn.rawgit.org)

Also (finally) timestamps fixed :)

(assuming it's still there)
@ArtOfCode :D

@MarsUltor it's not, it was one of the admins trolling

@ArtOfCode It works! (first answer from top)

11:19 AM
@ArtOfCode Wait, admins can do that?

@MarsUltor Yeah, they can edit site settings.
Some of those involve raw HTML.
Which reminds me, now that I have an HTML sanitizer, I should sanitize those.

@ArtOfCode now links in answers do not work. :(

@zyabin101 Huh, so they don't. Strange.

The last "Hello, World!" in my formatting sandbox answer is black and not clickable.

@zyabin101 Heh. I guess it helps if I whitelist <a> tags.
Gimme a minute, I'll deploy it with the site setting fix.

11:26 AM
@ArtOfCode XSS is prevented on this site :D.
Also I can post an empty comment.

Deployed.
Yep, XSS has been nobbled
Heh. @Admins: You'll find that further efforts to troll the asking/answering guidance will be knocked on the head by the HTML sanitizer :)

user207712
@ArtOfCode I'm not an evil admin

@Solver of course not :P
but certain people have been rickrolling people :)

Q: KOTH: Every coin has two sides

ThraxIntroduction After my previous KOTH with heavy themes (fantasy war, worldwide pandemic...), I'm back with a new lighthearted game. This time, you are facing off in a "board game-like" situation. A pile of upside down coins is placed at the center of a really big table, and you are determined to ...

Also: Who here likes infographics?

@trichoplax Source code?

Bas
@trichoplax Iterations please

12:24 PM
@MarsUltor I'm afraid it's going to be a and the reference implementation would give away too many tricks...

@trichoplax Well, what language?

Now that it's working I should be posting the challenge soonish
(hopefully next day or so)

@trichoplax You should have made the reference implementation fast instead

@MarsUltor It's python 3 with pillow (PIL for python 3)
@MarsUltor Lol it isn't even golfed - I really need to optimise it

Bas
@trichoplax Ty for the heads up, will quickly implement an esolang which will generate this image in 1 byte. When you post your challenge I'll look all confused and be like oh there's a language to do just that in just one byte!

12:26 PM
@Bas It's a race to see whether you can release a working interpreter before I post the question then :P

@Bas One byte? Amateur. The empty program should do it.

Bas
@ArtOfCode Up to you then ;)

Good luck making your implementation match my specifications before I publish them... ;)

Oooh, I've just remembered an important... thing... I have to do!

@Mego coveralls.io <- for Actually's coverage

Q: Encrypting and Decrypting Challenge

Mega ManEncrypting Challenge Your program must be able to encrypt and decrypt passwords with a random key, which must be encrypted with a permanent key (in the program or in a file). You must input the encrypted key and encrypted password and the program must automatically decrypt it. This is code-golf...
