@AlexA. I believe he means that the occurrence of the word "star" in his message did not compel others to actually star that message, thus being one of the few occurrences of such occurrences occurring.
because it's faster to ask than open a new tab. Type google.com move your mouse to the search bar, type your question, click search, wait for results, look through results, click on a result, wait for it to load, scroll, then read the answer, then upvote it
Calling set theorists: would this be the set of all rational numbers? Looking on Wikipedia, they have this version, however I believe they are equivalent.
There are many ways to generate random words. You can take random syllables from a set, you can use n-tuples, probably neural networks (what can't they do?), alternating between consonants and vowels, etc. The method this challenge is based off of is by far the worst. It uses a Markov chain to ge...
The three rows of the qwerty keyboard are qwertyuiop, asdfghjkl and zxcvbnm. Your task is to find the longest word that can be typed using only one row of the keyboard, from a given list of words.

I go on GitHub every few days for one reason or another but rarely sign in. This is the first time I've been unable to search without signing in first.

Clicking "share" opens the link instead allowing me to copy it. "edit" changes the tab instead of opening the edit dialog (and none of the buttons at the top, link, list, etc. show up)
Clicking the upvote and downvote buttons does jack all.
Firefox says it's downloading an update, could that help?
IT WORKS because I tried some advice on a tangentially related question, which was to go into my browser history and say Forget About This Site on my stack exchange links
I should probably clear my cache and cookies once in a while
hi.. any math people here know how you would find the smallest non-zero eigenvalue of a matrix? If you just compute the eigenvalues using a library you get numbers like -8.52182907574e-17 which may or may not be supposed to be 0

@Anush My honest answer is Wolfram Alpha, but I'm sure there's another way to do it (something to do with the characteristic polynomial, I would guess). Stick around, though, as the other mathsy people will be along in a few hours (i.e. those also interested in maths, but know more)
One does not simply redirect using jQuery
jQuery is not necessary, and window.location.replace(...) will best simulate an HTTP redirect.
It is better than using window.location.href =, because replace() does not put the originating page in the session history, meaning the user won't get stuck...
@AlexA. I'm thinking of repurchasing Half-Life on Steam, and I can't decide between HL1 and HL:S. I suspect for singleplayer I'd enjoy HL:S more because of the ragdolls + not-shitty water (and I can mount the content in GMod), but I know that for deathmatch HL1's multiplayer community will be more active
@AquaTart Ah, I see. Well, if you don't have HL2 or Ep1/Ep2, the Complete bundle would be the better bet. If you're looking for just the original, you can go either way. The original has all of the quirks and moments intrinsic into the original engine, while the Source version has a lot of improvements.
I've played through them both, and I found the transitions in Source to be a little jarring ... it's graphically a newer game, but the underlying mechanics and whatnot are still the original
Also, if you plan to play Opposing Force or Blue Shift, I would recommend original Half-Life, so that the graphic styling between the three is consistent.
I do recommend OppFor, it's a really solid expansion pack. Blue Shift is ... eh?
I've never owned them, but I have played them at friends' houses and I used to watch a lot of HL2 speedruns since I was interested in how the Source Engine worked
IIRC, it was a spot where you were "ambushed" in this little village thing and had a lengthy fight. But turns out there was a "hole" in the world's ceiling behind this particular house before you trigger the event, and if you brought a barrel with you, you could get up through the hole and fly past the rest of the section.

Another way to unroll a 2D image into a 1D string is to use an Hilbert Curve.
There are many version of this curve, depending on the number of iterations used while computing it. Below follow example of Hilbert Curves from first order to fifth order.
