@Dennis Yeah, it's a lot easier to reach than Esc and a little easier to reach than Ctrl (Ctrl+F requires twisting your hand, while Caps+F is just shifting your finger a single key over, for example).
Okay, idea: Esc is cancel edit, but if you edit the same message, your edit is restored. Seems like a reasonable compromise.
@AlexA. As in, a command is dependent on the entire chain of commands that it is a "reply" to (and the commands that "reply" to it). I dunno, not really a thought out idea at all. :P
"Oh, dang, GIFs. Well, I guess a mod will clean this up. sees that the last GIF was posted by a mod, and that another mod is waiting for these GIFs to load OR NAW!!"
@Dennis er... yeah, sorry, didn't consider that. Do you have any other ideas other than <esc> to enter "command mode" (because I need that for other purposes)?
Let's say that I challenge someone to a game of chess, but instead of trying to checkmate them, my secret goal is to get my king to the opposite side of the board.
Why does every site make you create a new login? I mean it's a pain for me to remember another username/pw but what do they get out of it if the site is free anyway? They can still show me ads whether I'm logged in or not!
