idk about you, but I learned JS before Java, wrote lots of spaghetti code, and loved it then. When I had to learn Java, it was like writing with my left hand - static typing sucked. In time, though, I came to see JS for the ugly mess it was and Java for the huge but somewhat clean language it was

I've found myself passing arrays or integers instead of strings many times before because there wasn't a compiler to yell at me (and the linter couldn't tell because I was throwing it into an object that got sent into a template)
