@Quill This is a test <- star this message if you like puppies

Or D&D, for that matter

^^ unstarred (though there were some star flashes)

2:01 AM
Nethack yes, D&D no...

@Calvin'sHobbies I like cats

uhh, to what extent have you played Nethack?

Dungeons & Doorknobs

He's never played it but he sure knows that he hates it

@Doorknob To the extent of a few minutes
@quartata I've played it and I don't hate it

2:02 AM
@AlexA. ok well that explains it

Also @AlexA. I noticed you last played a steam game on August 7 2015
You need to sacrifice some more of your free time to gaben

haha

Can someone come into Chatgoat's Barn and trash talk chatgoat?

SURE

just get him to reply to himself

2:05 AM
@quartata hahaha
@Doorknob It was confusing and I couldn't tell what was happening

kind of like interstellar
the people who claim to understand it claim to be elitists

@Quill Does code review have a Calvin equivalent? i.e. someone who only posts code to review and never posts answers?

yes, unfortunately

@quartata Dude, you are in way to many rooms

Yotta-challenge: Do project euler in the golfing language of your choice.

Yotta?

@Calvin'sHobbies ...and?

2:09 AM
@Calvin'sHobbies Okay, maybe not Calvin. More like code vampires who are only around for getting things fixed by us

I'm active in most of those rooms.

Yotta is the largest decimal unit prefix in the metric system, denoting a factor of 1024 or 1000000000000000000000000. It has the unit symbol Y. The prefix name is derived from the Ancient Greek οκτώ (októ), meaning "eight", because it is equal to 10008. It was added as an SI prefix to the International System of Units (SI) in 1991. Usage examples: The mass of the Earth is 5972.6 Yg. The mass of the oceans is about 1.4 Yg. The total power output of the Sun is approximately 385 YW. The observable universe is estimated to be 880 Ym in diameter. One yottabyte (YB) is a unit of digital information...

That's only like 22 rooms anyways.
I should join some more actually.

ಠ_ಠ
You should talk in The Nineteenth Byte and The Nineteenth Byte only. Forever.

I am in... ten

2:11 AM
No you're in 7

I am in two

@quartata if I can count correctly I am in 10 .-.

I count 8

/me recounts... yep, 10

2:12 AM
10 in what base? :P

@Doorknob Only 7 are visible to me.

We only see 7, but I expect secret mod rooms

Ah right.

@Calvin'sHobbies ohh, private rooms aren't shown there
@Geobits base 10, of course

TL and Twentieth Byte make 9.
So what's the 10th? spooky

2:12 AM
@Doorknob This math checks out.

@quartata Puzzling mod room

@quartata He's a mod on Puzzling too.

I bet the 10th is whatever Puzzling's mod room is

Doggonnit.

@quartata TL?

2:13 AM

Er... I mean... uh.... I don't know what this TL thing is

rooms/17/ IIRC

I don't know what you're talking about.
@Quill sshhhh

@Quill it's 4

2:14 AM
@quartata He's not in there

don't request access to it or you'll get stabbed

@Doorknob Even if there were only one mod in TL, it'd still be the Teachers' Lounge.

@AlexA. yes I am

o_O not listed when I look

poor alex

2:14 AM
@Doorknob what's at 17 then

idk, access denied

or is it if I tell you, I gotta kill you kinda thing

Woah, just loaded room 241 thinking it might be 20th byte but it's Area 51. How did we exist before that?

@AlexA. :D
Apart from being a different breed, my dog Bella is almost exactly alike.

@Calvin'sHobbies It's just general discussion for it.
Probably didn't get created until later.

2:16 AM
guess so

@El'endiaStarman !!! WHAT KIND OF DOG IS SHE

@Calvin'sHobbies Martin made 20th byte (it wasn't really necessary before because I was really the only active mod). It has an ID > 20000.

@AlexA. Hedgedog I'd guess

lel

some people do keep hedgehogs as pets

2:17 AM
@AlexA. Golden something. Not a retriever, I don't think.

@Doorknob o shit it does

Golden Eagle?

@Quill I think that's the RPG.SE mod room, from the detective work that I did. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Golden Oldie?

Golden Balls?

2:17 AM
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

@Doorknob Wow. Christianity.SE's mod room has ID < 2000.

@Doorknob yeah it is I remember that now
"Behind the screen" right

Puzzling's mod room is < 15000.
Despite Puzzling being waaaay younger.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ಠ_ಠ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Doorknob what's the name of puzzling's mod room?

@Calvin'sHobbies I kid you not, there were three questions posted at almost the exact same time trying to be question #666.

Yes

@Cyoce it almost looks like disapproval face is stuck between them, like the middle seat of a car

@Quill poor disapproval face. Nobody, erm, ... approves of him

@Calvin'sHobbies it's fine. SO is the real killer here

omg my cpu is deing
WHAT IS GOING ON

Question upvotes here should be +10 for the extra effort but questions on Code Review take no effort so they should be +0.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ just like your spelling?
@AlexA. ಠ_ಠ

no like nothing is visible

@Calvin'sHobbies Calvin what are you doing there it will corrupt you

My favorite chat room ID is music, with 440: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/440/the-practice-room

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Will you hear this ping?

just read all of @CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ messages in Shrek's voice

@PhiNotPi Perfect. Though 441 is better. :P

2:25 AM
418 is best

420 chat it

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ So you heard the ping and saw what he said, too?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ How did you know to say "yeah" without seeing anything? (dam geo)

Oh, that kind of blind typing.

2:26 AM
yeah

Just close your browser.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ it's probably your operating system
trying switching to *nix

Oh, yea, it could be that.

!!! my word made it into the official Lojban dictionary search thingy \o/

2:26 AM
@Quill I hate windows, but not that much.
Everything seems to be normal now, knock on wood

@Doorknob That seems exciting but I can't find what it means!

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I like how the "HELP ME" is right after the "Let's be friends with Code Review"

I thought that's what he was talking about at first.

2:27 AM
@AlexA. the word, or things in general? :P

@Doorknob ಠ_ಠ the word

What will happen if I comment "PPCG army. hiss" on this post, because all the PPCG people are commenting on it?

@AlexA. no by "things in general" I meant like "can you not figure out what the dictionary system in general means, or just the word?" not "can you not figure out anything" -___-
bah that was poorly worded

@Doorknob I don't know what the word you submitted means

@Cyoce then I (or someone else) will flag your comment as noise/not constructive and it'll be deleted

2:29 AM
@Quill ಠ_ಠ_ಠ_ಠ

@AlexA. oh. Relevant PPCG challenge: codegolf.stackexchange.com/q/69714/3808

That... doesn't answer my question?

( ͡ಠ ツ ͡ಠ)

@AlexA. a consonant cluster is just multiple consonants in a row

Gotta admit, they've got better tags:

2:31 AM
@Calvin'sHobbies s/better//

@Doorknob So it doesn't have a meaning? (Lojban makes negative sense to me)

as we have none

We have the better quote though.

> negative sense
:D

2:31 AM
I now have a macro for ( ͡ಠ ツ ͡ಠ)

@Doorknob 0 is too much sense :P

@AlexA. thinking about it kills your braincells

huhwwwwhhaaggat

( ͡ಠ ツ ͡ಠ)

@Cyoce 10/10 gives me nightmares

Does the "frequently in room" thing include time just afk with the tab open?

I'm disappointed that negative entropy isn't related to computer science at all: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negentropy

@AlexA. It does have a meaning. Consonant clusters are important in the grammar because they can determine where words split up (Lojban uses a combination of morphology and syllabic stress to determine where words are split, since aside from mandatory pauses, you can actually tell unambiguously exactly how the words are split up even if they're run together. That is, there's no ambiguity like "ahead" vs. "a head" or "doorhandle sir" vs. "door hand ulcer" like there is in English.)
That last example was made up on the spot and there are way better examples but I couldn't think of any right now haha

Where's the pun in that?

javascript:void(document.activeElement.value += "ಠ" + "_ಠ".repeat(+prompt("Length")))

2:35 AM
Unrelated question: am I supposed to be getting notifications for when things are in the review queue?

brb changing username to Door Hand Ulcer.
5

Because I never review anything because I always forget it exists.

@PhiNotPi Uh, what things? Any things?

I never get the review notifications here.

any things

2:36 AM
@Calvin'sHobbies any suggestions?

@PhiNotPi Same here, but I sometimes see the little orange notifications in the review corner

I do on SO, but not here.

On Stack Overflow a number shows up in the corner but I haven't seen one on this site.

@PhiNotPi I get notifications for things all the time
in fact
I don't think I've ever gotten a notification that wasn't for a thing

I get "inbox" notifications, "achievement" notifications, but never "review" notifications.

2:37 AM
Same.

okay

@PhiNotPi hat notifications?

I haven't gotten a hat notification all month.

I wonder why

2:39 AM
You might as well throw in there. I mean, why not?

[tag:^]
Awww....

@Doorknob Seriously though, I'd say no tags. It's golfier and we've done fine without them

And no tags means more room for the star board.

2:41 AM
10 mins ago, by Calvin's Hobbies
Gotta admit, they've got better tags:

@PhiNotPi Mods get mod inbox notifications too. Here's an example:

10/10 changed opinions

user image
9
disclaimer: screenshot may or may not be altered

...yet
( ͡ಠ ツ ͡ಠ)

@Quill better, not more compact

2:41 AM
@Doorknob So you approved it, right?

these days you get userscripts to hide active users and open chatrooms anyway

@Doorknob I'll take that at face value.

@Doorknob I'll bet Geobits is the one who asked that

@Geobits depends... did you feel a wet fish across your face?

Not yet. I figured it might take a while for me to feel it from Texas.

2:42 AM
ah, yes, trout latency

I prefer salmon latency

I have a lot of in-game latency ( ͡ಠ ツ ͡ಠ)

@Cyoce not all browsers support repeat.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ mine does ( ͡ಠ ツ ͡ಠ)

I'm not all that scared of the trout though. This isn't IRC.

@Cyoce do project Euler in your favorite (golfing) language

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ That's cool, it's Euler

that feel when you click too fast and accidentally buy nightvision in css

is that a thing?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ yes

How Euler works: A program consists of an integer. When run, output corresponds to the answer to the corresponding Project Euler problem.

@Cyoce huh.

@Roujo hahaha

2:48 AM
@Doorknob That author is gold

@PhiNotPi Why would you buy ninjas?? You're just supposed to hire them one-off.

@Doorknob I know, right?

17 mins ago, by Calvin's Hobbies
Does the "frequently in room" thing include time just afk with the tab open?
? :/

@PhiNotPi Was it really "voluntarily" removed by its author, or was he trout-slapped into submission?

> deleted by SuperJedi224 2 hours ago

2:52 AM
@Calvin'sHobbies inclusive but not completely

@Calvin'sHobbies I think it's based more on messages.

I'm sure it takes both into account. It can't just be messages, since they're not sorted right for that.

murrrrrg

It's actually sorted by last message posted.
See, look.

Not on the frequent tab, or Martin wouldn't be so high.

2:55 AM
@Geobits Messages + weighted by time, I'll bet.
So 10k messages in a month is more "meaningful" than 10k messages in a year.

We should have a PPCG vs CR grand challenge

@El'endiaStarman Probably something like that, yea.
@Calvin'sHobbies I thought we did. The result was we're still beta :/

@Calvin'sHobbies you mean the "golfed code that passes" challenge?

@Geobits until...

2:56 AM
severe lack of graduation trolling here

@Doorknob Sorry. It's hard to get worked up about graduation trolling when we all know we're graduating on the 17th now. Kinda spoils the fun.

true, true

haha

27th? I heard it was tomorrow

2:58 AM
Oh, 17th, not 27th. I knew there was a 7th in there.

they're gonna do it on the 19th just to pay homage to here

They'd be more likely to do it on April 1st. Now that would be homage :D
