4:00 PM
i have 250gb ssd + 1tb hdd

2 hours ago, by Helka Homba
Do they? I mean...yes, all part of the plan.

Hah, nice.

@quartata Either Ç or ç should work

ok, c++ version working fine.

@Adnan Does it vectorize?

4:07 PM
NASA completed the James Webb space telescope. Woo!

TIL this exists

@quartata Yes
an array of characters also works

Wow. Florida is saying they had 6.5M early votes cast. That's over 50% turnout from the entire state before election day even started. To put that into perspective, turnout for 2012 and 2008 were both 62% total.

Yeah - I read that Florida had more early votes this year than the entirety of their votes in 2000.

Might have something to do with the 4-6 hour lines at some polling stations the last time around :/

4:26 PM
@Adnan Why doesn't this output anything in 2sable? "asdf"Çvy

@quartata Oh, it doesn't work in 2sable

:/

Ç was broken for a long time in both 05AB1E and 2sable
it only works in osabie
@quartata if it helps, the 05AB1E equivalent "asdf"ÇJ works :p

Yeah I know
But an extra byte :(

Quickly glancing at this ^^ conversation, I thought the posts were the same person.

4:30 PM
for which challenge is this?

How does ë work by the way?
doesn't seem to work the way I thought it did

uuugh its stuck here for like 30 mins

Welcome to VS ;)

I've been using it for 5 years and I hated installing it on every format and every upgrade

@quartata Seems to work for me :)

4:32 PM
Someone has a Wordpress botnet. Here's a subset of the IPs used to attack: gist.github.com/turbo/56a42c3f99bde8c0df2bfb7b3d5009ef . You might want to block them if you have a public facing website. If you are under attack, redirect user-agents containing "wordpress/i" to 403.

@ConorO'Brien Nifty indeed :D

@Adnan Oh I forgot to close it with }

@mınxomaτ A Wordpres botnet o_O

Ahh, okay :p

Huh still doesn't seem right
Does it work properly with strings?

4:34 PM
@mınxomaτ would cloudflare take care of that for me or should I block them by hand anyways?

@mınxomaτ I don't have a Wordpress on a site of my own hosting (at least, not any more), but thanks for the heads up (really appreciate it!)

"I voted"vyÇÈi"blue"ë"red"}yJ

pretend red and blue are the appropriate ansi codes

@Sp3000 I don't think that it is what the issue is

4:34 PM
@Sp3000 No, it doesn't matter if you have WP. It uses WP to attack.

Oh, I thought you meant it was trying Wordpress exploits. Right.

I think that there is a botnet, that is tons of WP users, that probably DDOS sites

@arda You can add them to your CF firewall.

@quartata Hmm, what output are you expecting then?

@mınxomaτ all by hand? ouch
I could use CF api though

4:36 PM
If you are not usually under attack, it doesn't really matter for you.

@Adnan It should output blue followed by the character if the character's code point is even and red followed by the character if it's odd

But atm it has enough capacity to take down a pretty beefy nginx proxy.

@quartata Ahh, okay I understand
When you perform Ç on a 1-length string, it still returns an array

Woops.
Also your string compressor seems not to preserve capitalization
“€íü“ gives lowercase i at the beginning

@quartata You can use the sentence-case operator
But you can also use „Iü :)

4:48 PM
ok I think I'm getting somewhere

And in the end it's still 28 bytes

@Geobits I'm trying to start lo:ve, but I need something called hg. what on earth is that?

Sounds like Mercurial

@ConorO'Brien Mercurial

I just apt-getted it, so I'm not sure what the install process is elsewhere.

4:51 PM
alright, so it seems to be mercurial

I thought they had a self-contained installer for any OS though.

thanks y'all
@Geobits installer, yes. compiler, no

That's odd.

apt-get, apt-install, apt-makesandwich

Oh, did you grab the source from bitbucket or something?

4:52 PM
I used the windows installer

@Adnan This has a lowercase v I just noticed

Huh. They must've changed it in the last couple years. I used to use it on win and never needed mercurial for anything.

So it's going to be 29 bytes throwing in titlecase

why can't everyone just use git -.-

@quartata Oh, that's unfortunate

4:54 PM
0000000: 8449 c3bc c776 79c8 6922 1b5b 3334 6d22  .I...vy.i".[34m"
0000010: eb22 1b5b 3331 6d22 7d79 e74a            .".[31m"}y.J

Maybe you can shave some bytes of by doing something like ["red", "blue"][Ç%2]

What I had in the end
@Adnan I'll try that

@ConorO'Brien apt-git

hg-git

@quartata Actually, you don't need the mod 2

4:57 PM
what are these hyphen gits

@Adnan Oh, do you have modular indexing?

since it uses modular indexing

@ConorO'Brien hyphen-git

curl weights;
make protein-shake;
git good;
5

thank you I read the chat without a ping

4:58 PM
@TimmyD ._______________________.
yuo spleled git gud wrong

@TuxCopter I also didn't spell it "curl w8s" because I use English.
2

watiz english

But git gud is a meme

(I'm starting to really hate the word "meme"...)

In French même mean same

5:01 PM
but meme and même aren't le même

@ConorO'Brien Accents are most of the time ommited
The word time is most of the ommited also >_>

@TuxCopter omitted

:33385394 I got into trouble for that in the past :/

Lol (removed message: meme means breast in Turkish)

@mbomb007 It's a valid word

5:03 PM
(was checking memes on 9gag, someone saw it (that it was saying "loading memes"), and stuff didn't really go well)

one day I will ommiting wors and ltters

not anyday soon
:P

@TuxCopter omitted is, but not ommited.

ah
typo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@arda @betseg Personally I think once or twice is fine, e.g. if you realise something you said was wrong and nobody's replied to it yet. Just as long as it doesn't become a habit.

5:06 PM
He was referring to the content of the message
Not deleting it

@Sp3000 I wasn't talking about his message; I was talking about the fact that the meaning of memes in turkish got me into trouble when viewing memes, as in advice animals and stuff, not private parts of body.

Oh right, nvm.

@quartata btw, I got this now: ”Iü”v"blue""red"‚yÇèyJ

@Sp3000 nw, my message could be pretty easily misunderstood

5:09 PM
FTW: For the win
WTF: What the f---
TFW: That feel when
TWF: ??? (That was funny?)
FWT: ???
WFT: ???

FWD: forward

this is FWT, not FWD

@Adnan Oh wow. You can post that yourself if you want: just substitute blue for <esc>[34m and red for <esc>[31m

I've seen "WFT" as "Well, f--- that."

Wft-> well f--- that?
Wft ninja

5:12 PM
y u ninja me

Google suggests FWT: Flying With Turban

I can dig it.

I think we can come up with better.

Tfw fwt ftw. Wtf

TWF: Team Won Fortress

5:13 PM
Wig Fun Tuesdays

@ConorO'Brien And if you try and speak this out loud phonetically, you'll need to wipe spittle off your monitor.

WTF: Won Team Fortress

or Fun Wig Tuesdays

TFW: Team Fortress Won

WTꟻ

5:14 PM
FWT: Friends with tenefibs.

@betseg TFW TFW

@quartata You did most of the work though, I just gave some tips :P

FWT: Full-width text

@Sp3000 nice

FWT: Funny Whale Tree (Nobody said it must make sense)

5:15 PM
WFT: Wrestling For Tacos

TWF: The Winners Forfeit

WFT: Wii Fit Trainer

WTF: World Tennis Federation

CMC: print TFW, FTW, WTF, ... etc.

WTF: Wireless Total Fridge

5:17 PM
WFT: Wigs For Tots

OK I think that's enough

Yeah

4 stars left until abusing thing reaches 100!
Yay my first time 200 rep in one day!

npm-expansions have exactly 444 contributors

5:22 PM
holy crap I think I'm finding the number wow
btw @betseg do you think they'd let me reach the maths guy if I called the ogretmenevi he's staying at?

What do you mean by "I think I'm finding the number now"?

How are you finding the number?

@arda probably

My site rep is a palindrome

I think I managed to find a mathematically good and fast way to brute force the number, but we'll see that in a few hours I guess.

5:25 PM
"computers can't solve" he said

"brute force"... uh...
You probably still need a computer for the first part though, right? Or at least that's what I was doing

@Sp3000 What challenge?

Definitely not for the factors of 2^b-1 part though
6 hours ago, by betseg
@ASCII-only http://i.hurimg.com/i/hurriyet/98/770x0/581ef49e18c77313b0e83760 a=*huge number*; n=*an integer*; Bn=*n 1s* ((10^n-1)/9); Bn%a=0; b=2^n-1. Questions: n=? What are b's factors?

Computers can solve everything...

Only with the right algorithms - you sure ain't going to be able to brute force this though

5:28 PM
Definitely not the factors

And if silicon-based computers can't solve it, wait some decades to have quantum computers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, bit stuck what to do there, apart from the initial factors of the form 2^d-1

ok, I'm slowly progressing, and I think this approach might work
I'll need more ram at this rate though :/
Derp, that was kilobytes, ignore that.

downloadmoreram.com is the solution

... would it work if n was 74 digits though?

5:32 PM
my screen looks like matrix lmao
self note: don't ever enable visual output on brute forcers

It actually slows the process down

IT does, severely

Did you guys already find n?

Bn=*n 1s* ((10^n-1)/9); What is s and what is B?

I think I have n
(hence my comments about 74 digits)

5:35 PM
Bn = (10^n-1)/9
Bn % a == 0
@KritixiLithos ^ and ^^

And we have to find B's factors, right?

According to betseg, little b's (2^n-1), which is the hard part :/

2^n-1's factors damn ninja'd

Also @feersum darn you for posting the Seed cop during exam period for me :/

awwh

5:37 PM
@betseg wait, what exactly is that? Can you explain what I exactly need to find in turkish?

Dennis ought to be able to get it
Now he's practiced inverting some PRNGs.

@arda first 93 factors of 2^n-1
That's it

n being?

((10^n-1)/9)%a==0

a being 97388839913164773144180653700430045648016870068507697797313816794125988183817453‌6316361975757?

5:39 PM
Yup

oh, gotcha

What is the value of n that you got?

ok, fun fact, the brute forcing algorithm I was testing (I'm mildly high so it's probably wrong but still) got stuck on 93 character difference

Post this as a challenge on PPCG :P

Happy 93th year of turkish govt :P

5:42 PM
@KritixiLithos then steal the answer any get ₺100,000 lel

@KritixiLithos Starts with 7250379854
(is what I had)

@betseg then spend it all on steam, yay!

That's a lot of steam. Water is cheap.

(my steam account is worth around 14.5k turkish lira, double lel (yes, I'm disappointed with my life))
(I spent less than 1k usd on it, but well, I get most stuff on sales and from bundles)

?cc=us => about $9000

5:45 PM
7957€ o_______O

In my defense, I've had this account for 6 years

it says that my account is worth $698 (at the lowest sale), but that's certainly not true

@NathanMerrill yeah, it doesn't count sales or bundles.

I think a lot of that comes from humble bundles

It says that I don't have steam

5:47 PM
@KritixiLithos that's for the best
Steam is hell. Can I get a refund, please?

remembers that he has to put games on steam greenlight I-I'm joking steam is the best woo

my price per hour on CivIV is 0.03 cents :)
oooh, found a better one: Terraria at 0.02 cents

I have 2000 hours on diablo 3 (I used to be addicted to that). The game costs 40usd. 0.02 cents per hour.

5:50 PM
I have 105 hours on Robocraft o_O

No idea how many I put into D3, but I play on PS4, so...

yeah, I'm no where close to that. My top game is 600 hours on Dota 2, which is 0.00 cents per hour

40 dollars per hour on Kerbal Space Program. In my defense, I play games that require less brain in school time.

@betseg any recommendations of games that don't require too much brain power?
@TuxCopter robocraft used to be pretty fun, then they made it a moba, then they changed it again

I have 595.3h on Geometry Dash, 0.01 cents per hour

5:53 PM
I stopped playing Robocraft after the stupid overhaul adding some superop weapons
I couldn't play a game anymore without being nuked (literally) by 5 people :/

@TuxCopter same :/

@TuxCopter is that because of power creep, or PTW mechanics?

Lock-on missile launcher

Anyone have any phone screen interviews tips?

5:54 PM
Use a PC

@feersum Have a computer with a fairly quiet keyboard nearby :P

aka, does everybody have access to nukes in Robocraft?

@NathanMerrill ptw, ish

and they simply didn't balance them right?

Set yourself up properly beforehand in a nice, quiet place because wasting 2 minutes trying to find headphones is not a good idea

5:55 PM
The game is badly balanced

@arda what's "ish"?

I am very high level, but since the big update money is really hard to gain
result: I have low-level weapons

@NathanMerrill you need to win to earn ig money, and you can't win easily without putting rl money in game.

so, its basically a PTW mechanic
:/

well you get money if you lose too, but much much much less

5:57 PM
If you win, you ear a big bonus and the gains are multiplied by 2 if you are vip

vip players get 2x money and xp too

And if you lose, to gain things you need to make kill

right, but the need to grind to get good items doesn't remove the ptw

To make kills you need to have stupidly powerful weapons
Or have 1e6 SMGs

@arda oh! looking at my game list, one of my favorite brain-not-needed games is Burnout Paradise

5:58 PM
@NathanMerrill oh! I have that, that's amazing.

Is it on Steam or Origin?

yeah, its on steam

I remember playing it years ago
Ooh, maybe once I pay off this month's bill.. ;)
