11:01 PM
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC That's 131. Should I round to 2 hours?

@Dennis sure, why not?
+1 ban experience
Ban of any sort count, throughout my internet history: 4
3 -> PPCG
1 -> SO question ban (I no longer have it) (I know, it's a shame)

@Dennis yes. definitely.

... Are you asking for a ban?

Maybe we could make it 2 days to make the experience even better.
3

@Dennis what happened?
@Dennis I love the copy snipped feature on TIO btw

11:07 PM
@RohanJhunjhunwala noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC posted a ಠ_ಠ with 131 underscores to be annoying, replying to a message that requested kickbans for users who post long ಠ_ಠs

3 hours ago, by Martin Ender
New rule proposal: the number of _ in ಠ_ಠ represent the number of minutes of suspension you are asking for.

@Dennis oh, I missed the 131 underscores
@Dennis I just got on
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC why do you want to be banned?

@RohanJhunjhunwala You have Mars Ultor and NBM to thank for that.

(it was a joke)

takes finger off red button

11:10 PM
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Well, it wasn't a very well thought out one obviously.
@Dennis red buttons don't make you itch to push them?

They certainly do.

Are ban tools for mods actually red? I know it sounds like a silly quesiton
2

my profile pic should change soon.

@RohanJhunjhunwala They're actually orange, like all buttons in chat.

@Dennis oh, lol, on a more serious note, is it acceptable for me to take a sight specific feature request to mother meta? The anti tab expansion post has 40+upvotes, and I would like to see an official response on it. (Full disclosure it is my post).

11:13 PM
Kind of a random question, but are site-specific mod rooms visible to mods from other sites?

We need a "golf me a site design" challenge before the site design is done...

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Should be showing the new one now

do we have any news about the design?

@DJMcMayhem No.

@trichoplax it's a broken image icon for me

11:14 PM
@Dennis :/ they need a better color scheme for beta sites IMO

dunno, I'm awaiting my puzzling t-shirt and stickers!

@RohanJhunjhunwala wrong ping i think

@Dennis I figured

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC slow clap

@trichoplax it is on my message send box, but not next to me messages
wait nvm

11:15 PM
shit
@trichoplax I thought you were the goat >_>

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ ?

that avatar change

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC It shows on messages for me. You might need to also refresh the page, or wait for caching..

> wait nvm

11:16 PM
@Downgoat inverted color avatar

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ sarcasm or...

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Wow caching is quick nowadays :)

yep
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ it's generated

11:17 PM
@RohanJhunjhunwala Oh, I was working on an answer to that questions. The initial decision to strip control characters was due to a security concern. That said, if the request is only for PPCG, it has no place on Mother Meta; they'll just migrate it here.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Then the confusion cycle will be complete

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I found this super NSFW super scary avatar I'm gonna change it to:
AHHHH CAN'T UNSEE

@Dennis whats the syntax I should use for nfind, it seems to be getting in there with only one link maybe: larg += 1 saying 'int' is not iterable with Œ!Ç1#

@Dennis would tabs be a substantial change? Please do ping me so I can take at the answer. The change might also interest stack overflow and code review.
I do see how allowing null bytes and such would present massive abuse opportunity, but I would think tabs are safe to allow.
I have no knowledge though, so I do really want to see the implications in some more depth

11:21 PM
They we're also worried about backspaces making the code look like it does one thing, but actually does something else. I'm not sure how that applies to websites though, hence the little investigation on my to-do list.

@Dennis - oh wait, my Ç will return an int though - it's not like filter; "matches"...

@RohanJhunjhunwala Tabs should be fine. I have no idea why they would xonvert them in the first place... Since it's your discussion, you'll get an inbox notification anyway.
@JonathanAllan What are you trying to do?

@Dennis so would you say that I should leave it on this meta as it is essentially a sight specific feature?

Was trying to replace a filter with an nfind. But that wont work
Don't worry :)
was for this:
2
A: The 3x3 Hexa Prime Square Puzzle

Jonathan AllanJelly, 34 30 bytes i@€ØH’ s3µ;ZÇ€ḅ⁴µ>2aÆPẠ Œ!ÇÐfḢ (I should be able to use an nfind to just fetch the first match, 1# in place of ÐfḢ, for less bytes and more speed, but I'm seeing errors when I try) Brute force search of all permutations, filtered for the criteria, returning first match. Way...

To find the first match? Sure, that should work. Might not be shorter though.

11:25 PM
yeah to find first match, the link above is returning truthy/falsey and currently used to filter the permutations
Most probably there is a better way to do the whole thing though!

@RohanJhunjhunwala I don't think it would make sense to allow, say, vertical tabs or formfeeds on SO, but tabs should be left untouched everywhere (at least on other coding sites) imo.

I'd agree. I think it would be good for MM

@JonathanAllan Oh, your going through permutations? # only works for numbers...

Can I get kicked from Trash?

The error now makes sense.

11:28 PM
@Dennis I'll wait for your answer, and then after knowing all the facts I'll put up a feature request on mother meta as it seems like tabs should be untouched on across most sights.
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC it is essentially a normal chat room
You can theoretically chat in it too

<k><link><n> finds the first n integers, not less than k, for which link returns a truthy value.
Hm, if <k> is an iterable, it should do what you were expecting though. Not sure why I never thought of that.

@RohanJhunjhunwala I'd say just go for it now. I think it makes sense on every site, and I am very eager to see it implemented. It might be worth mentioning the benefit to other sites along with PPCG

> 50 bounty for the shortest (not the first) solution that has no asterisk in the code. This includes hex ordinals, decimal ordinals, and other cheating methods, which aren't allowed.
What how is this possible without ordinals

What's the challenge?

you mean it should as in larg += 1 should be changed?

11:32 PM
Character arithmetic. I do wish we could close bounty descriptions as u clear though.

@DJMcMayhem this

@DJMcMayhem should My mother meta post just contain a link to the ppcg meta, and explain the benefits of such a change?

@JonathanAllan Yeah, that should roughly be next(larg) (with a few more changes).
@RohanJhunjhunwala A link-only question? Good luck. :P

@Dennis sorry, I didn't make that clear enough it would consist of a link embedded within a paragraph about the proposed benefits.

link it yes, but copy a good bit over to the mother meta
you should be able to understand fully from mother meta also

11:34 PM
^ will do

Explain thoroughly why you think it's useful. I'd mention whitespace-sensitive languages such as Python first and leave this oddball community as an afterthought.

@Dennis Python was my primary case, especially for SO and code review
It would be hard to argue the whitespace programming language as a legitimate use

And ServerFault, and SuperUser, etc...

@Geobits your avatar looks quite halloweeny inverted

@RohanJhunjhunwala Makefiles also require you to use tabs, so while a well-written Python with consistent identation should still work after the change, copy-pasting makefiles is impossible as is.
You can get around the tabs with some nasty hacks, but well-written makefiles have tabs.

11:41 PM
@Dennis that sounds like a strong argument, thank you.

So today i went to UCB for a thing and someone there knew about Upgoat Downgoat challenge which was crazy coincidence

@Downgoat Did you exclaim "Hey! I'm Downgoat!" and have everyone look at you in confusion? :P

@Downgoat woah

lol no

11:43 PM
did you say you were the author?
and how did they know?

from github
I was demonstrating cheddar

?
@Downgoat woah nice
link me to UCB?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ berkeley.edu

University of Chicago in Boston.

@Downgoat oic
my uncle teaches there iirc

11:46 PM
cool

def nfind(links, args):
	larg, rarg = args
    if type(larg) == int:
        larg = itertools.count(start=larg, step=1)
    matches = variadic_link(links[1], args) if len(links) == 2 else last_input()ound = []
	while len(found) < matches:
		if variadic_link(links[0], (larg, rarg)):
			found.append(larg)
		larg = next(larg)
	return found

Hey, those who were interested in my post regarding tabs, please do take a look here to help make this change happen. The post I am about to link is mine, so please do not take offense at this "self-promotion". I really am trying to get this beneficial change to be made.

Q: Expansion of Tabs

Rohan JhunjhunwalaDo we need to change all tabs into four spaces? I while back I proposed a code golf specific feature request. I now come to this community to discuss how this feature may be interesting to many sites throughout the network. In sights that are not technologically oriented tabulation may present...

2

> in sights

hmm not sure what happened with fixed font formatting :/

@ASCII-only fixed

11:53 PM
> cites

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Sure, it might be a good idea to just post the SC links there and the perfect place for the transcripts @El'endiaStarman asked for. Life is happening right now, so I'm a bit swamped atm. Apologies for that.

@ASCII-only wow oops

And "I while back" should be "A while back".

How hard is my question (in terms of scoring > 2000)?

doesn't like tabs I suppose...
def nfind(links, args):
    larg, rarg = args
    if type(larg) == int:
        larg = itertools.count(start=larg, step=1)
    matches = variadic_link(links[1], args) if len(links) == 2 else last_input()
    found = []
    while len(found) < matches:
        if variadic_link(links[0], (larg, rarg)):
            found.append(larg)
        larg = next(larg)
    return found
@Dennis like that ^ ?

Q: A game of atomic proportions

Qwerp-DerpYour task make a bot that plays Atomas, with the highest score. How the game works: The gameboard starts with a ring of 6 "atoms", with numbers ranging from 1 to 3. You can "play" an atom between two atoms, or on another atom, depending on the atom itself. You can either have a normal atom, or...

In the last paragraph there's unbalanced parentheses

</shameless advertising>

@ASCII-only relevant xkcd

@Qwerp-Derp Uhm, yes.

11:55 PM
)

@RohanJhunjhunwala Please no

....or almmost, I guess need to start at one less and generate before the variadic link call

@mınxomaτ (Clever sideswerve of question)

@JonathanAllan Similar, yeah. (Can't test from my phone.) The type check should probably special-case list though, since nfind current works for floats and complex numbers.

Ah. Well it wont work as I posted it I dont think... I'll have a play.

11:57 PM
In other news: Looks like the awesome guys over at Fastly will be sponsoring the bandwidth for my future alwsl releases. Though the negotiations are still in progress.

@JonathanAllan Sorry for not reviewing your pull request yet. Every time I remember, I'm not at a computer. >_>
