My 10Mbps internet connection is becoming unbearable due to a modem overheat, so I will go offline for about 20 minutes while I hook up a new modem and align it perfectly with my rack-mounted server I use for a developer's machine and for accessing HTTP servers.

Someone suggested a kernel patch because another reason I couldn't get an older driver installer to work was the kernel version + old driver = bad combination.
No go with the patch though... The 3.2 ABI isn't backward compatible with the 9-3 installer. Effing binary blobs.

I actually was recommended for xubuntu but we has some shitty AT&T internet (analog) here. So, I already had a PPC release for the 12.04 release of Ubuntu so I decided - I'll get to Lubuntu when I have two hours to kill.
If you can get to the place where I had the class sometime, then you can use that connection. I'll be aroundish for the next week or two, or I can wget the PPC packages and send my sister to swim team with a thumbdrive for you.

@Flabricorn: you can edit questions similarly, and they will be put in a queue for approval (until you have 2k rep). My policy when editing is to stay true to the spirit rather than the letter, and that often requires cutting out lots of blather from newbies who may not know how to phrase things, or what the point is. Occasionally (less than 1% in my personal experience), you might make a mistake and the OP will comment to clarify, in which case you fix it per his request or rollback the edit.

You both seem to be right, his problem seems to be the super key doesn't appear to be recognized and 1, 2... etc are typed out instead in the open app.
