Hmm, chat still works
But I got booted out of my account
Which probably means that
chat is running off of a cookie
no
chat is separate
But I have to login to use chat
And the login button is greyed out
it uses the main site for auth
Right, which is why methinks chat is only working because of a cookie
00:06
ctrl f5 I dare you
Nah, that won't break it because I've had it where chat works for like half an hour after I sign out from the main site, and then it stops working
I wonder what's happening over on SO... they're probably freaking out!
Well the good news is the transition seemed to go fairly smoothly
No 404s or DNS errors
We need to close this as EOL

Q: How to rotate screen manually in Ubuntu touch?

Maxim VidgofI have installed Ubuntu touch 15.04 on my Nexus 7 2013 16GB. As you may know, automatic screen rotation doesn't work good enough on this device. Is there any way to rotate screen manually? Maybe some code to run in terminal?

WinEunuuchs2UnixCut time from 1/2 hour in RAM to 9 seconds with disk Bash arrays can be notoriously slow in many instances. You need to call the external sort program. on the Ubuntu wiki
@craftxbox ^ the "End of Life" category.
thanks
note that the "Future" category is also offtopic here :P
why is 14 still in life but 15 is eol
@craftxbox 14.04 is LTS, 14.10 is EOL
01:02
well yeah
even the lts 15 version is EOL too
@craftxbox None of the 15s were LTS...
Every other version has one LTS
@craftxbox 12.04, 14.04, 16.04 were LTSes.
oh so its every 2 vers
01:04
So none of the 17s will be LTS either
18.04 is likely the next LTS
This --^
what @AndroidDev said
and unless SABDFL says otherwise, us on the dev teams are planning for 18.04 to be an LTS
You're on the dev team @ThomasWard?
Kernel 4.9 is LTS but 4.10 which Ubuntu 17.04 is based on will be dead soon.

@NathanOsman @TheWanderer Just thought I'd let you guys know I found an awesome Android color picker library that's licensed under Apache: github.com/LarsWerkman/HoloColorPicker
How did google every make out with chrome book success wise?
this is relevant how @WinEunuuchs2Unix ?
@TheWanderer I hate Material, you should know that by now :P
01:25
you're going to vote me off-topic in chat room? :p
its just, the question about chrome books just came up at random
They were talking about Android.
And they mentioned Apache was on Android which used to be on PC.
Google makes Android.
@AndroidDev gotta use it if you want people to download your app
Google recently launched PC laptops called crhome book.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix ILLUMINATTI CONFIRMED
01:27
I wondered naturally if they were successful.
thats a pretty indirect correlation, and 3 years isnt that recent
Yes but the Illuminattti are just people in capes with secret handshakes they aren't the REAL DEEP-STATE.
Just like the Stone Masons
I mean Free Masons
my toe joint is really swollen
01:29
@TheWanderer Are there actually statistics for that?
Stop sticking your toes into the USB slot.
@AndroidDev idk
I just know people like to go for the latest and greatest (See: Apple)
Do you honestly like Material?
so if there's an app that isn't already really famous and isn't Material, people won't like it
@AndroidDev Material is amazing
it's got colors, animations
01:30
I think it's as ugly as Windows 8+'s "Metro"
and it stays minimal
Are we talking about Google's "Material Design?"... there is beauty in simplicity I think.
Holo doesn't use very many colors, and the blue was just a terrible choice IMO
Blue is my favorite color :)
i personally like material
01:31
The problem with Metro was it was a bunch of randomly sized pictures that were misleading and confusing.
i like aero better tho
ew metro
@AndroidDev yeah but the blue in Holo really doesn't go with the gray
@craftxbox LOVE AERO
Oh yes Vista areo glass windows are nice.

good night.

System.out.println("AEROMASTERRACE")
}
night all!
@craftxbox You forgot the semicolon! You'll throw a compiler error! :D

@WinEunuuchs2Unix Well I don't want to be cast into /dev/null like @NathanOsman was!

@AndroidDev but probably like from 2000 years ago
I just saw Nathan's avatar like 3 hours ago... are you saying he's "unwell"?
Wouldn't you be too if you were in /dev/null?
I tried "echo /dev/null > file_name" it doesn't work just use "> file_name" to empty a file.

01:48
how's /dev/null/land treating you?
UnrealEngine is so awesome, BTW.
It actually runs on Windows.

Something like 3500 shaders to compile.
02:45
@NathanOsman Question: I was thinking about implementing a feature in my app where you would be able to embed multiple files and folders in a single image, provided of course that there's adequate space in the LSBs... But I'm not quite sure how to go about it. My first thought was to have an integer array or something with the index values for where one file ends and the next starts, but that seems sorta clunky. What would you suggest?
It'll be a while before I get to that, since I have other bugs to fix... BTW if I'm annoying you then please let me know and I'll stop.
No, you're not annoying me.
What I do for NitroShare transfers is have a header at the beginning that indicates how many files to expect. Then for each file, there is another header containing the file's size.
(Followed, of course, by the file contents.)
So do you hard-code that the first 4 bytes following the end of a file is the header for the next or something similar to that?
But wait a sec
Does that header also need to contain the length of the filename?
Because how else would it know when the filename stops and the actual file starts?
@NathanOsman I really do appreciate your help and advice :)
@AndroidDev No worries.
What NitroShare does is use a signed 32-bit little-endian integer to indicate the length.
The goal is to be explicit. Java uses signed integers by default, so that helps.
Ah
So just a standard 4 byte int
But you have to store the length of the filename too, no?
But what about the cost of the Kindles? --^
03:21
@AndroidDev What I did was stuff all the metadata (file size, filename, etc.) into a JSON string and then write [length of JSON] [JSON].
03:32
So UnrealEngine is pretty... unreal:

Nothing is more complicated in Debian than in Ubuntu. Things are just different, a bit older and there is no Unity if that is what you use. This question is off topic though and I will vote to close it. — Bruni 31 mins ago
Sigh
@Bruni sorry but that's just wrong. Things can be just as new and often newer on Debian if you're following unstable (or even testing), and of course unity can be installed if you choose to do so. Some things are indeed more complicated such as third party graphics drivers and the lack of PPAs. Sharkant, the main issue with your question is that it is just too broad. However, the basic answer is simple: just install Debian and try. Most things will be very familiar to you. — terdon ♦ 16 secs ago

Sorry you lost 100 rep for nothing, @NathanOsman :(
@AndroidDev Well, the question is a bit of a mess. Why do you have all these "Update N" sections? Why don't you format it so it reads as though you'd included all the stuff from the updates in the original question? That makes it far easier to read. We don't need to know the history, after all.

It is a synthetic element (an element that can be created in a laboratory but is not found in nature) and radioactive; the most stable known isotope, 267Rf, has a half-life of approximately 1.3 hours. In the periodic table of the elements, it is a d-block element and the second of the fourth-row transition elements. It is a member of the 7th period and belongs to the group 4 elements. Chemistry experiments have confirmed that rutherfordium behaves as the heavier homologue to...
