I'm back from a 60 minuite ban for no reason.
the mod who banned me is so stupid.
What'd you do?
Nothing
So then i played some Trove, LoL and that was that.
You were spamming quite a lot
100 lols
stackexchange site record
Apparently they banned me from Charcola HQ
Not surprised. If that's what you've been doing.
00:03
I wasn't spamming LOL's after @NathanOsman told me off
it was here
@Edity Don't say that.
Yes you were. He said stop, you kept going, he ignored you for a while and then you stopped posting. I can only assume that's when you were banned
???
I did nothing
nothing
I didn't ban anyone.
00:05
apparently this guy called Andy did it
So it looks like the adapter is good for AP: itsacleanmachine.blogspot.ca/2013/02/…
you've been asked by multiple users to respect the room topic and you have not. When you return, do so
Anonymous
o/ hi all
first off all Andy, i have been respecting the site
Anonymous
woah, what did I walk into?
00:06
@NathanOsman Tell onebree to stop blocking me and I won't say avocado anymore
@Zacharee1 did you see my link ?
Anonymous
What's happening?
Alright, to everyone repeatedly posting phrases (you know who you are), please stop.
2
@onebree Some users are getting a bit carried away.
Anonymous
@NathanOsman Ah, okay
and secondly, "you've been asked by multiple users" You kidding me? who asked? just you cuz you feel like it? Yeah. i think that you are a false banning mod.
Enough with his :/
00:08
@Edity who are you talking to?
nobody
cuz I have nobody
lol
*cough*
101 lols so far
:D
@onebree If youre not blocking me, i have been "suspended" for 60 min for no reason.
Anonymous
I do not want to get involved with moderation.

How is evreyone this friday night? I am on my ubuntu partition.
00:10
It's usually a fairly simple job. But occasionally tempers flare...
@onebree Pretty good - did you see the camera I set up with my Pi?
Anonymous
@NathanOsman No I did not. The pi02?
Raspberry Pi?
i remember
I've now got it set to capture a photo once every 30 seconds.
I have enough space on the SD card for about 6-8 days worth of images.
So hopefully they hatch before then.
00:12
why not stream the webcam and taking the pictures on your main computer ?
It can't connect to WiFi.
The Pi is too far from the access point.
da**
:)
Yeah :(
But at least I can still capture images.
Anonymous
@NathanOsman omg... Daily photos is a great idea. I have an aerogarden and would love to watch things sprout
It won't be daily. I don't want to disturb the camera very often.
Anonymous
00:13
Do you use the pi 2?
But I will post anything interesting.
@onebree Nope, this is an original Pi, though I have a Pi 2.
Anonymous
Daily photos is a great idea for me and my new plants
other possibility which of course involves shopping is a wlan repeater
Anonymous
Will this work with a pi 2? I would love to hook this up.
I'm sure it would.
I'm also looking into buying a new adapter, but it won't be in time for this.
I'm thinking of this one:
00:15
lol
Anonymous
Boyfriend got me this for xmas with my pi:
tp-link is pretty good
usb adapter?
Wait, that's not the right one...
Anonymous
I actually have a spare, unopened (or at least unused) TP-link n300 here
00:21
y not try a wireless boost thingy?
Imma try reinstall 15.10
@Edity You was annoying that's why you got blocked.
lets see here.. pendrivelinux..

Anonymous
@Edity use rufas
rufas?
wth?
now i get it
:D

it looks like Odin
Anonymous
Someone from this chat recommended Rufas to me a month or so ago
o O_o
hi @RPiAwesomeness
@onebree btw, its rufus not rufas
Anonymous
00:58

@Edity It was not yours to post. Sure you can find my address elsewhere, but I did not want to share it at this moment, which is why I was cryptic. I believe web scrapers grabbed my address somewhere that shared it as plain-text in the HTML.

@RPiAwesomeness Because on slack, if you start a message with /me then the rest is italicized
@onebree get off my lawn....
that's from IRC

Yeah, it's been around a long time

I only used IRC for the first time a few months ago.
I just italicize it because it looks better

yeah it started on IRC iirc.

So, what is keybase exactly? It wants me to setup an online prof... And I need a new photo
it's a key database... ;P
<-- is lousy at explaining things

key + database = keybase

basically its a place that has trusted keys, so if something is signed, you can check against it.

user139252
Keybase provides you a public key...
user139252
You can save it to your computer, yes.
user139252
01:37
If you log-in with the command line app, you can use it to encrypt/sign/decrypt messages
Anonymous
I would save it to ~/.ssh right?
user139252
For example, if you wanted to send me a secure message, you could do keybase --pgp-encrypt brownone "Your secret message"
user139252
No.... it's a PGP key
user139252
not an SSH key

01:39
Where do I store PGP keys locally?

Also, do I need to generate new keys if I plan to add/change my email addresses?
user139252
I'm not sure... to either of those :P
user139252
I just use their CLI app. keybase --pgp-sign file, etc.
user139252
Their app handles it for me :P
@RPiAwesomeness isn't that 8188-based though?

Ah.

Because keybase said to use curl

Q: Why does the chat has to be so aggressive at banning you?

Edity(Seth and the mods already know about this, moderators do not post) So today I was talking blah blah blah where the point that I was suspended for 60 mins for NO REASON. then I wasted 60 min. of my life waiting to see if i can chat again. And i know what you guys are thinking "this can't go any...

goodbye
probably forever
another -1 on my meta post= goodbye forever

Well i kiss this not working bluetooth now for good night, i need to rest my eye anyways :)

up to is my cat is anyways blocking the keyboard :) and i hate getting scratches :D
Anonymous
@Edity I am sure you are a great person. You want to meet new people and make friends, like me and others in this chat. But it is important that while this chat is active, it still stays on 1-2 topics, without stray. It is not like reddit where fleeting thoughts are buried in comments.
Anonymous
@Edity Think of the ban time as a period of calming down, and reflection. If you are confused why you were banned, try contacting that person elsewhere, if possible (twitter, email, another room). Keep it out of General.

@Seth o/ everyone. that looks neat.
hi!
Whoa. What's up @StefanoPalazzo . Haven't seen you in here in AGES
@hbdgaf He pops in and lurks once in a while, but I don't think he's said anything :(
Ahh. Okay. No worries. I just hadn't seen the robot gravatar in a long time.
it's a nice gravatar.
03:02
it is
@onebree Sure. I'll snap a picture of the setup tomorrow, maybe.
I have a molded plastic case for the Pi with holes for hooking it on something.
@NathanOsman - did you see that kickstarter brown1 linked to? It looks like a moderately powered motherboard on a card about the size of a rpi
Was it the $89 Intel one?
Yes that
yeah
03:08
I'm still hedging on whether I should go for that or not.
I think it's awesome they have tablet kits available right out of the gate in 4 and 7 inches.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying "move on from the pi". I think going ARM and getting packages/software working there is more beneficial in the long term than just grabbing an off the shelf more powerful x86 intel embedded thingamadoo
@hbdgaf I tend to disagree for the hobbyist, but the only PI I've owned was the original
@JourneymanGeek I understand that side of the argument too. I think it better serves someone that just wants to run something right now to go the x86 more power route, but I think in the long term, crowd sourcing getting all the patches/ports to ARM working is the greater good.
@hbdgaf Only if there's a common platform
idk. for builders in general, it's nice to have a common platform. but code that runs without that much optimization on the pi should also run on the beagleboards, cubies, etc etc. that's all i'm saying. when apt repos for raspian reach parity with apt repos for debian, i'ld say "goal reached, everybody go for cheaper cycles now"
i also understand i said raspian, but when i say that, i mean debian for arm
03:21
@NathanOsman got any good recommendations for learning FF extensions?
I just want to do something simple (add an option to the tab context menu)
03:39

Yeah. I was just popping in to apologize for spill over that I caused to you guys. Sorry about that.
I don't mind it too much, personally
But thanks on behalf of the others (I hope)
o_O
03:58
hmm, anyone remember what that offline documentation browser was called?
@RPiAwesomeness maybe?
I think it started with a z..
aha, it was zeal
04:16
@Seth I'd recommend the add-on SDK then. It works great for simple things and it is the recommended route right now.
XUL is being deprecated.
oh really?
I guess that's a good thing.
We don't need more markup languages :p
Yeah, part of their "separate process" thing.
I forget its codename.
@NathanOsman I did dig around the add-on SDK, but I can't seem to find any way to add an item to a tab's context menu.. I know it could be done before (and older addons still work). Weird.
Oh, hmm... maybe it was an XUL-only thing.
I'm not in front of a computer right now, unfortunately.
no problem.
I will be pretty annoyed if they removed the ability altogether
04:21
That might hurt for me. If oneliner goes away, I'll be sad.
I'm not too impressed with the direction Firefox is going... to say the least.
@NathanOsman everyone's following chrome a little blindly IMO
@NathanOsman me either.
disconcerting when you join the FF IRC chanel for coding and only 6 people are there.
oh, looks like their wiki is listing an old channel.
04:42
ooh, nice. FF dev has a slick discourse site.
I miss all the fun stuff.
me too.
(what fun stuff, specifically?)
The chat suspension thingy.
oh. you missed it. right.
ok, in that case no, I don't miss it.
It was the avocado guy. Oooh
05:02
ugh. Firefox APIs are a total mess right now.
05:37
@Zacharee1 how you mean ?
good morning all

1 hour later…
07:00
@jokerdino is the spices version of 16.04 (cinamon) OT ?
no idea, is it running Ubuntu?
well i should have more coffee lol
16.10
near impossible to be running 16.10 so early
i got 16.10 in a vm running and it runs smoothly but not with cinamon
ok, do what feels right. This is a community site.. I am just a mod.
07:04
ot because of developtment version
was my choice
sounds reasonable
i mean even if some of us run a 16.10 in a vm to test around this doesnt mean the majority has seen it yet or had a hands on
so its hard to provide support for it
especially because its a big switch there as well
from unity 7.4 to unity 8 mir
we will have a funny time when this hits life
so, review chores are done
now back adressing errors in my syslog
07:26
is there a command where i can see the mainboards specs ?
like name etc ?
I guess that's only possible via the bios thing
i'm back to full crank?
@onebree i'm back?
@Videonauth off the top of my head, lshw might
:/ i'm sorry about what happpened earlier (if people know about it)
Now- back to where I was going to ask.
I burned Ubuntu to a usb and booted off it
07:42
well what im trying to resolve is this dmesg message dmesg
It displays a black screen
And keep there
This was my screen when i booted it:
stk1160 1-6:1.0: AC'97 0 access is not valid [0x0], removing mixer.
07:48
@JourneymanGeek i think ac'97 is alsa, not sure if i shall compile from the asus zip files or install it from the repos
