6:00 PM
i thought so

It's probably closer to 32 C outside.

:v

@NathanOsman do you really live in Canada?

He lives near the water. The cool clear water.

no he just likes hockey for no reason...

6:01 PM
honorary Canadian?

/snark

@Zignd Yes.

eh, It will last a month. I accidentally edited my name again to check if I could change it back just to find I can't change it again. Is that something a mod can mess with If It gets crazy a week into the month @jokerdino

i can edit the name if you want to

yes, a mod can fix it if they want to

6:02 PM
You'll have to pay them though..

@NathanOsman I always thought it was a very cool place

I think @jokerdino likes frozen yogurt...

@Zignd ...and we live in igloos, right? :P

i like iced coffee, but that's another thing

6:03 PM
that's not the costliest things.

Anyone else seeing this on GitHub?

@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o̾ That works too. (tip: Shog like pie. With icecream.)

@NathanOsman I saw this error page when I tried to create a git page.

@NathanOsman not recently, but i'm on a painfully slow internet connection until wednesday if they don't push my DSL install date and bandwidth request

6:04 PM
Since we're talking about temperature... It's 31 C here. I am hot.
4

You are what?

jrg
laptop is 45c

My laptop gets 50 C while playing minecraft

76 F. you do the math. every day same cool air-conditioned temperature.

Why did that get stars?

jrg
6:05 PM
"I am hot". Best comment ever.

You said "I am hot".

just a way to say @Seth is awesome.

Oh, I meant outside... O_o

@Zignd My video card pushes 75 C sometimes.

jrg
fantastic!

6:06 PM
I need to move somewhere colder.

jrg
@Seth come to ohio.

@Seth Really? "I am hot" a chat filled of mans?

jrg
i've got a couch.
5

I always got nervous back when I had a mechanical hard drive and it routinely exceeded 60 C.

my video card used to, but now i only have laptops...so the temp doubles and the performance is cut in half

6:07 PM
@Seth Move here! It's only 37 C...

i don't want the high income area couch. i want the low income area and telecommuting. insta-double-pay.

@jrg If Ohio is anything like Indiana I'll pass ;P

jrg
@Seth you should come to ohio, and live on the couch at work, and use the fast internets.

just saying...i'm about half way through making my own mobile-command-center.
shameless die-hard reference

6:09 PM
@NathanOsman And you live North of me.. Global warming proven! /sarcasm

@jrg How fast?

jrg
@NathanOsman 50/50, theoretically.
in actuality, gigabit.

@jrg did they expand the line like they were talking about when I was there?

@jrg i'ld have to break in to the dslam to get that here

jrg
but i can't get a good reading on speedtest because everyone is using it right now.

6:10 PM
Say, who got Google's fiber optics?

jrg
@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o̾ they expanded a little bit, but not by much.
@Seth we've got the local equivalent.

can't argue with 2k/yr plus internet for bills though

@jrg ah, so not the "lets start a internet service" much

@jrg I've got the local equivalent too... cable.

jrg
@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o̾ nope, not yet.
@Seth no, like fiber into the building.

6:12 PM
awwz, i'm out of coffee flavored ice cubes
it's the little things

danny elfman, little things. just saying, listen to it every time you hit a little wall

I really wish Google Fiber would come here. I've got 1.2 Mbps right now.

I have a Keon @Seth

@mojo706 How do you like it?

6:17 PM
It's ADSL, so at least, I always get 1.2 Mbps. It's never throttled and it doesn't drop.

@NathanOsman WAT?!?!?! minumum here is 1.5 Mbps DSL. I signed up for the 10Mbps option, but it wasn't availabe at my geo

its very good especially with teh new update

As my english is not one of the bests and I'm not a native speaker, I have to admit that I have some difficulties to understand what @CallmeV says looks like he make a massive use of slang.

@CallmeV My server has 100 Mbps though. So if I'm compiling a large project, I just do it there.

@NathanOsman that's fair

6:19 PM
@Zignd "geo" in this case refers to geography - his current location.

@Zignd it's mostly the verbal language translating into written

jrg
@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o can you explain how you set this up?
because @flabricorn is looking over my shoulder and admiring your font.

jrg
@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o ?

@jrg it's the great evil overlord zalgo's font

6:20 PM
@jrg Probably used Zalgoizer.

@NathanOsman I'm not referring to "geo" and so to what he says in general.

@Zignd WAT (jargon that you should get), The minimum speed available as a buyable DSL package here is 1.5Mbps, <1.5 doesn't even exist. I wanted 10Mbps and was ready to pay for it as it is listed as an option, but I got a not available phone-call because I'm too far from the DSLAM. Theres the expanded english...

@Zignd He's saying that the minimum speed his ISP offers is 1.5 Mbps and he applied for 10 Mbps but it wasn't available in his location.

By the way I enjoy the way @jokerdino uses the words he have a very interesting sense of humor.
2

O_o

6:22 PM
@jokerdino...? A sense of humor??? WAT.
4

i honestly hope and pray that wasn't sarcasm beat into words.

@NathanOsman if i could star that more than once i would

user image
6

Firefox OS?

@NathanOsman bows

6:22 PM
yes

@jokerdino replace "sense of humor" with "sarcasm" in my earlier text

Hands out another star.

thank you

@jrg zalgo text. It is browser dependent, so some see a bunch of boxes in a row...

6:23 PM
@mojo706 Is that the lock screen?

@Zignd They can be replaceable.

no
thats the home screen @NathanOsman

@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o i see boxes offset from your name indented and in the middle of the next message...which is why i suggested tab and possibly some cr/lf

@jokerdino not any more, looks like the "allowed time to edit" has passed out.

too fast @Seth

6:25 PM
Ahoy

Being sarcastic and being humorous. That's not me, son.

pfft jokerdino
you underestimate yourself

@jokerdino being sarcastic and being brutal...that's me son

o/ @lazyPower

6:26 PM
@NathanOsman thats the lockscreen

@mojo706 I'm not going to give you another star

haven't seen you around in a while lazyp

@Zignd but thats just stingy

I was showing @NathanOsman hahaha

@CallmeV yeah - been busy with the day job and starting up Groovy Object
Haven't left myself much time for slacking around in the AU channels :)

6:26 PM
@mojo706 I have to be honest here... it sure looks alot like Android.

turntable.fm/not_the_troll_hole << however i'm DJ'ing in here

jrg

@lazyPower yay!
HIIII

@lazyPower hope it works out bro. i been a little busy with an article and some other stuff for #trollbigbro for defcon

@lazyPower he already posted a screen shot of a firefox os and got 4 stars in 5 minutes ago.

jrg
6:27 PM
my apprentice says hello to @lazyPower.

Hola JRG's apprentice. You're in good hands.

jrg
i need to get the two of you in a google+ hangout or something
because you and eli would get along well

what? you're like the first person to say that @NathanOsman
@jrg yes this is my phone for about 1 month and a half

Works for me

Link didn't work.
Too late now @CallmeV :)

6:28 PM
ping me one day when you think you'll be around after work and i'll let you know what my schedule looks like - i'll try to clear time for it :) Too much time working = boring lazypower

jrg
ok, cool.

@Seth ?

@CallmeV nevm.

jrg
@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o cool

6:30 PM
Wow this room is great right now.
I will be back later.

@Seth You are welcome.

Quick. Flood @seth's inbox.

not an actual entry since i'm not going this year, but it would still make an epic blog article if i get the ascii art part sorted out

:( ^^

6:32 PM
see you soon buddy.

@mojo706 that one below the presentation app is an Eclipse icon?

@Zignd yes

6:36 PM
"the launcher is not associated with eclipse. what do i do?"
2

oh you meant eclipse sorry

@mojo706 yes

@jokerdino i'll keep starring them until i run out...because i told people to do it that way in the installation question here and they still troll

i ran out of the questions. i don't want to dig into the eclipse tag.

anyone here like rap music?

6:40 PM
java menu integration doesn't work

Q: Setting up 802.3ad for true 2Gb/s link aggregation

wilhilI have been trying for a few days and reading many posts/resources online but am getting nowhere... I have found so many frustratingly unanswered topics such as - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1572502 or http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1572502 . Basically, I have a load of sw...

have almost made it to compile and install 3.9.7

@mojo706 thanks

@WilliamHilsum they are out on loan

@dschinn1001 gcc is in nathan's repo as new as it gets.

only network configuration (3.9.7 stable ) is stocking while booting.
it is because of gcc ? no - kernel is set default to sid0.

6:44 PM
you're talking kernel or gcc?

kernel
sid0

use the mainline repo. it's on google...and it basically works

@Zignd No Problem

in network-settings instead of eth0. mah-mhmh-iwanna3.9.7rrrrrmgbgrmlblll.

never apt-get linux-source, just apt-get source linux-kernel-uname -r. for whatever reason things like luks fail if you use vanilla and the same really long key

6:47 PM
yea - true - but now really not much is missing. only sid0 is the last thing to fix. when fixed I will post it as answer to my ques from last time.

sid0 is what kind of device?

i thought nvidia-current was the problem - but it was not - it was grub<2.0 - I replace dit with grub2 - then it worked with modules-install - wait I look now ...
(update-grub was somehow broken in <2.0)

i doubt that last part...you're probably doing something wrong

cannot look now - I think sid0 was fixed to atheros - and eth0 now ( in 3.9.0 ) is fixed to linkcap ethernet.

atheros is the embodiment of well designed driver
don't crap where you eat
that being said, i have an ath9k driver that just works short of signal strength control on recent kernels

6:51 PM
found workaround at gentoo to recompile with eth0 enabled in network-settings, but this did not work - so guess that I have to disable sid0 too before recompile with make (after saved new config-file for kernel)
??? okay - I dont crap now ...

all i was saying is don't criticize the ath9k driver. it's the closest thing we have to an absolutely awesome wireless driver for linux.
it's the chipset i tell people to buy all.the.time

no am not criticizing anything of it ! - misunderstood ? - only wanted to know, how to work-around a little thing to be fixed.

understand.

yep.
sorry - did I cut the topic ?!

it's fine...don't worry about it. send me a mail with what distro version and kernel version from mainline you're using. i should have dsl unmetered in a day or two. happy to help, but there's not a lot i can do atm on metered internet

6:58 PM
cannot hold with my knowledge to "2Gb link aggregation" - thats to high for me at moment.
thanks V - I will try something before, then I come back to you of course, when unclear.

i think i made that...

at moment ubuntu 12.10 with kernel 3.9.0 here ( pear OS 7.0.1 - but it is Ubuntu 12.10 - ) ... okay. need some break today evening ... lol I know how to make coffee.

and you are ignored for pearOS

like my grandma, brew it with boiled water manually ( no machine here )
no, did not ignore it - it is 12.10 ... !?
going now to coffee - break ... - no offense ! ;-)

if you're not using mainline, pay me or don't ask

7:03 PM
where you live ? which country ? I send you 5 Euro for coffee !
or 10 Euro for coffee.

I am going to bed now. Play nice guys.

yes we stay fair !

i always play nice...i just play fair

ok. may I mail you ?
will mail you ! for sure. - what ? was addy wrong ?

no, i don't like having it in unfiltered chat logs

7:08 PM
ok. good. nice to meet you then. gotta go out now. have a nice day you !

a mod or high rep user wants it, they can see deleteds.
have a better one

wua, a better one ! and you the best one !

later on man

@dschinn1001 that would be a fancy coffee.

and a bitcoin account

7:20 PM
oh, I was thinking a single cup.

heh
if the issue was fixable in a cup, it wouldn't be a question

@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o So... zalgo names are valid?

It seems so, so far...
2 hours ago, by M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o̾
ah, man I am so going to get zalgo text banned...

should ping some SE staff right now

off for a while guys. later on

7:42 PM
BBT

8:01 PM

Q: Problem with wifi in Ubuntu

TharduarI'm not able to see (or access) my WiFi in Ubuntu. tharcisyo@tssd:~$ iwlist scan eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning. lo Interface doesn't support scanning. wlan0 Failed to read scan data : Network is down.

Oli
@WilliamHilsum After a few years on the site you pick up random knowledge like that.

@Oli Just annoys me... I need to know all this... been reading books, but, in the same way as I tell people most books about Windows just don't cover experience... I am finding the same here
I will remember that, but, just annoying (for me and others)/I hate asking for help all the time!

Oli
That's one of the great things about a site like Ask Ubuntu (as I'm sure you find on SU) - you're exposed to a crazy array of problems that you'll and helping people through them teaches you stuff about the systems that a book just wouldn't bother with.
A side effect is I can't remember what I had for dinner yesterday but hey, who needs to remember things like that when you can remember all the flags for tar?! (That's a lie - nobody can remember how to tar without at least one Google)
10

8:45 PM
Okay, seriously, who keeps creating the tag?

8:59 PM
@Oli I need to hang out here a lot more!

Q: Open luks-encrypted partition from virtual DomU LVM disk containing another LVM

uvestenI've gotten myself in a bit of a bind, here. A while ago I set up an encrypted Unbuntu 13.04 under Xen. It's virtual disk is an LVM LV. This LV was presented to the DomU as a (whole) physical disk during installation, and I let Ubuntu's installer set up encrypted root and swap (using LVM). ...

9:29 PM
@Oli still around?

9:42 PM
@jrg @jokerdino @Oil @mod I think I should change my name back, can one of you help with that, It looks really crazy on closing posts.

linkie? :D:D:D

Oh that is epic! ROTFL
I could use a mod as well... but I need an AU one.

starts going through the other text... does that say "put on bold"?

Oh, yeah ;-)

9:57 PM
@FEichinger valid tar command... that's easy... the one I use most often.... "tar --help" :)
4

@WilliamHilsum Good one!

@WilliamHilsum One could argue that the --help flag does not actually do anything and therefore is void in context. But I'll give you that one.

@FEichinger Semantics! ... the output comes from tar... valid tar command! :P
