There are 5 processes which can't be killed by kill -9 $PID and executing cat /proc/$PID/cmdline will hang the current session.
Executing ps -ef or htop will also hang the current session. But top and ps -e are working fine.
So it seems that there are two problems the filesystem not responding....
also, the open django book needs more of this: lightbird.net/dbe/index.html - practical examples are worth pages and pages and pages of "this is how templates work".
I would ;-) @Mitch but you decide for yourself. It is better than the other dudes (he used a non-default name for the profile and you got 1 image more)
e.g. with this nvidia-post I got voted up or voted down, because this solution only works for CUDA optimus cards of nvidia - when bumblebee is added as repo.

Hi, are any of you guys using KeeFox? I can't disable the behaviour where I'm asked how to configure everything again when I start Firefox. Keefox and Keepass are working already, so there is no need for this window to pop up after every start.
We have one office with broadband and another one with dialup. My goal is to create a local Ubuntu mirror on the second office.
I have used apt-mirror on my local machine, and it downloaded about 130GB of packages. How do I transfer these files to another computer to create a local mirror?
If I ask a question and want to draw attention to it, is it OK to post links to it in the general chat room? Or is this considered bad, since there is already a questions feed and if lots of people manually posted links to their questions in chat, the chat room might be overwhelmed?
Please note ...
carry a discussion about the question, edit question to reflect new information discovered in chat ---> dont just dump Q's in chat. If you wish to discuss, say hi and discuss.
Hi guys, I have done something silly... got a remote server that I haven't been on in about 6 months... I set up and forgot the password... but I am logged in still... Rather than reboot, do you know if I can force passwd at all?
@WilliamHilsum I think the only way you can fix that is rebooting into grub, recovery mode, remounting in rw and then using passwd from the root account (which you'll be thrown into in recovery mode).
@jokerdino Yeah, I am on the Drac in to the machine... I never logged out 6 months ago, and just can't remember the password... doesn't seem to be in my database for some reason :/
passwd from a non-root account will need a current password (makes sense really, doesn't it?) so unless you want to try cracking your current password...
You could add your public key and use that log in in the future but you'll never be able to sudo unless you go through recovery mode to get a real password.
@Oli well, technically it does... but it also doesn't!. I completely understand for sudo, but, isn't that a limitation of the passwd command and nothing else.
@WilliamHilsum Scenario: you leave your workstation logged in, snotty kid comes along and passwd lets them change your password and lock you out. That's why most systems require your current password in order change it to something else.
e.g. my user should be able to change my password... it is just the passwd command that requires the current one... so, if I am logged in, there must be a third party tool/something I can download and run, under the context of my user, that can reset my password...
@Oli don't get me wrong, I completely understand... just playing devil's advocate... it makes sense to ask for it, just thinking as an admin/the way things work, you should be able to work around it.... and in those situations, I'll say the guy should have logged out! (if anyone went on this server and it was possible, I'll only have myself to blame!)
I think that's all obfuscated away by pam_auth. Your new password submission gets churned up and turned around but AFAIK that does need the original as part of the process.
There may be a way to beat pam into submission but I don't know it.
Going to sound so dodgy, but, I don't suppose anyone knows a quick/flexible SSH brute forcer? I am certain I know what the password is (e.g. contains x elements)... just not sure which order, which capitals and which symbols...
Oh well... How long does it take roughly to do the safe reset? I have console access so may just be quicker!
@jokerdino, @oli - hmm... in recovery mode, but, when I try to change password, it just says "Authentication token manipulation error"... don't suppose either of you have any advice other than "don't forget your passwords!"?

My OS is Ubuntu 12.04. As System Monitor shows, "free" for my $HOME is 1.6GiB, but "Available" is 222.7 MiB and is keeping slowly decreasing from around 750 MiB yesterday. I am not aware that I am adding more data to $HOME.
So I would like to know
how to find out the reason that causes that,...
@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o̾ Do is possible to create a new font that only you and a friend have so that only those two guys could understand it in a chat?
I have been on and off the Stack Exchange network for the last couple of days and hence have not been able to raise the usual number of flags that I often raise. With last flagged post on 17th June; I thought about raising some flags for our dear moderators - and I am allowed to raise 100 flags f...
@M̦̙̬̿̌͒a͇̯̾͒̌͜t̖͚̥͆̀͝ȩ͔͔̂̏̓o̾ One would need to do more than simply reorder the glyphs in the font. Letter frequency could probably be used to determine the translation table and then read the messages.
@Zignd I'm afraid that fonts themselves do not provide any means of encryption.
Well there are some programs that allow you to create fonts by drawing it. Chinese for example is not understand on Windows by default, so could we create a font that looks like normal letters, but you would need the font file installed to read it?
Agreed, and that is probably a good metric. I was just making sure I wasn't stepping in on the wrong side of the ffmpeg avconv war...if that makes sense.
I need to use ImageMagick as PIL does not have the amount of image functionality available that I am looking for. However, I am wanting to use Python.
The python bindings (PythonMagick) have not been updated since 2009. The only thing I have been able to find is os.system calls to use the comman...
@Zignd not really. there are three (or so) different python api-s. i'm looking for what has community backing so i stem off porting because something is no longer in repo. i suppose i could go with opencv, but that would be like using a nuke to kill a fly
in all probability it won't even come in to play as maintenance, i'ld just rather think it out and not have to instead of say "i should have thought this out"
basically, the reason i'm asking is a picture to ascii conversion routine. i know they exist, but instead of working backwards and making a list of black, gray, and white characters then decomposing, i'm working forwards and saying "you only have three characters. now substitute in from the list to make your ascii art shellcode work"
