@Serg The deb only downloads the installation and uninstall scripts -- no sources. This means that we won't have to build the deb again and again for minor changes. It will build from Git each time.

So I have a few servers set up behind a bastion. I usually hop from bastion -> server A -> server B using agent forwarding. One day I try to log into server B and for no reason apparent to me I gives me: Permission denied (publickey).
After fiddling around trying to get it to work I figure I mus...
@NathanOsman, thought it was better to keep everything separated, since I'm a noob with networks and don't want to screw with my real interface configurations :p
the N lone pair is in a 2pz orbital (the 3 sp2 orbitals are the sigma bonds with carbons and the hydrogen), and it can contribute to the delocalization, so they do count. The free electron pairs on oxygen don't count because on the first case they are both on sp2 orbitals, and on the right one they are on sp3 (the oxygen suffers hybridization and becomes tetrahedrical)
@edwinksl, it is a little confusing, because the same molecule is aromatic in a resonance form, and non aromatic in another, but it's mostly because of the orbitals the electrons are in each form
it's easier to see if you draw the orbitals in a paper
@edwinksl, indeed, but it would be good for them to give you a little more basis to understand the theory. Not going deep on the quantum physics part of it, I mean, it's such an updated and more broad view of organic chemistry
yeah, most of them just wanted to start working and making some money haha
problem is, I believe there is a immense responsability in the shoulders of an enginner, being unprepared can have catastrophic results
I don't know if I'm overcriticizing college, I just seem some stuff that doesn't fit this responsability I think should come with the title. I've seem people cheating (way too often), unprepared teachers, or prepared ones that didn't care to give a good class
@NathanOsman OK , here is basically the link to his fork of my repo github.com/bharadwaj-raju/lks-indicator . Essentially , he made a deb package , which will wget zip file of my repository , so that we don't have to rebuild the package
@Seth I'm working on an app indicator. Bharadwaj made a deb package for that, but installation script there is basically just gonna wget the zip file from my repository. Is it acceptable ? I'm leaning towards rejecting the pull request
well now you know ;) xclip is very very useful. I have been doing a lot of things with it. For example, i have this function that just copies any command. I use arrow keys to find command i want and prepend it
I'm running iperf in server mode on a Ubuntu box (14.04 LTS). The hardware is quad core with hyper-threading, so I have cores 0-7 available (0 is paired with 4, 1 with 5 and so on).
I've set the processor affinity of the running iperf process to use only processors 0,1. I can verify this with t...

@ByteCommander I can make an option for indicator to avoid reporting status of certain keys, probably will have that as a command line option. How's that ? Or should I make it an option via indicator menu
In other news, Ubuntu Mate VM installation complete \ o /
Ubuntu indicators written in python can be done with two APIs : appindicator and AppIndicator3. What is the difference between them and is there any advantage to using one over the other ?
@Zanna I have good news for you, and sort of blah news for me. I can display indicator text in Mate using AppIndicator3 library. That's good news for you. The blah news for me is that I have to rewrite my indicator using different library :p Which shouldn't be complicated , I hope
AttributeError: When using gi.repository you must not import static modules like "gobject". Please change all occurrences of "import gobject" to "from gi.repository import GObject". See: bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=709183
the linked page says: "I'm pretty sure the problem is along the lines of not being able to import gtk2 and gtk3 into the same process due to symbol conflicts. I think the only potential fix here would be to have "from gi.repository import Gdk" clobber sys.modules['gobject/gdk/gtk'] that when used, gives an exception which is more helpful than a segfault."

TypeError: a bytes-like object is required, not 'str'
@Zanna you didn't destroy anything, i just have to switch to tools that i don't even know how to use right now
Got it working. This is why we can't have nice things : we had python2 , now python3 comes with its crap. self.run_cmd(['xset', 'q']).split('\n') has to be self.run_cmd(['xset', 'q']).decode().split('\n')
Why decode ???
Ah . . . unicode strings . . . .except where there is no need for frickin unicode
idk @CasperLI Kernel bug I think - I guess you got a kernel update? Boot the old kernel (from grub menu) if you can and report a bug against the new kernel. That's what I would do.
I try to reinstall the os by using bootable USB but the reinstall option doesn't exist =[. http://www.howtogeek.com/196740/how-to-fix-an-ubuntu-system-when-it-wont-boot/
I have created a virtual tape library with mhVTL based on the steps given in this link. When i try to list the tapes with lsscsi -g that are mounted it showed.
[0:0:0:0] disk ATA ST750LM022 HN-M7 2AR2 /dev/sda /dev/sg0
[1:0:0:0] cd/dvd hp DVD A DS8A9SH EH62 /dev/sr0 ...
I don't think you should reinstall. can you boot the previous kernel? there are lots of bugs like this on Launchpad - seems to be usually fixed quickly by an update
If someone is familiar with xargs, help me out.. I am trying to remove to list of users using xargs.. I have added usernames one per line in a file.. and executing a command like this to remove those users in the file.. But it doesn't work..
@terdon thank you that helped.. By the way the problem with xargs is also sorted out. The issue is userdel expects a single login name to be passed, but xargs passes all of them on a single command line.
I have set up Tripwire on one of my servers but would like to implement the same policy to run on multiple hosts. I would ultimately like to configure them so they all report to one email. Is this possible? I have can't seem to find any documentation online to do this, any suggestions?
