is the english at cout correct?

I think it is count

It contains 2 or more dots [.] continusly
continusly is right?

@GeoMint is your question relating to your C++ program?

NO!

8:02 PM

user139252

of course, @HeatherBrown is an English teacher ;)
(iirc?)

user139252
Correct.

@Catija Owls are cool :D

@Seth cat /etc/pm/sleep.d/000touchpad

can you help me with this? it is not working

@HeatherBrown my terrible punctuation probably horrifies you.

8:05 PM
@Seth Certainly! They've been particularly popular over the past few years... though I believe they are being overtaken by octopuses.

@edwardtorvalds not at the moment, no. Have you considered asking a question on the main site?
you haven't even said what was wrong.

@Seth it is not working i.e. it is not echoing

user139252
@Seth No, the California public school system horrifies me.

user139252
Gotta run

@Seth I am going to ask it on main site

jrg
8:07 PM
@HeatherBrown public school system in general horrifies me.

Behavior clearly contradicts documentation. Therefore it is a bug.

kos
@edwardtorvalds I don't know, what's the script?

@kos it is supposed to echo when it either suspends or resumes

kos
@edwardtorvalds This one?

can I put:
xinput set-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Device Enabled" 0

@ParanoidPanda this one is edited

kos
@edwardtorvalds I think so. However the typo was in TouchpaOff=0, obviously it should be TouchpadOff=0

user136984
8:15 PM
Probably... :D

@kos if you will see my original script, I am testing it
I cant find any file named suspend.txt in my home dir

Woot - bug was confirmed.

kos
@edwardtorvalds This one?

user136984
@Nathan: Hoot!

@kos :'( which one?

8:19 PM
@ParanoidPanda Are you "Paranoid Owl" now?

@NathanOsman hehe

user136984
:D

kos
@edwardtorvalds Click on the arrow before the message in my previous message

@kos oh yes

I really should overclock this Pi...

8:21 PM
@NathanOsman what are you using your pi for? I use it as backup server

I have an RPi model B I'm using for compiling ARM packages and powering my Christmas light display (I've connected a relay to the GPIO pins). I've also got an RPi 2 I use as an APT cache and website monitor.

APT cache?

kos
@edwardtorvalds Sounds like that should work (you misspelled "suspended" by the way)

@kos really? I am echoing that

@edwardtorvalds The other machines download package updates from the Pi which fetches them from a local mirror.
They are cached so that they only need to be fetched once.

8:24 PM
@NathanOsman do you have more than one machine that needs updates?

I have at least four machines here with Ubuntu installed.

then you need it :)

That doesn't include embedded devices or virtual machines or chroots :P

hehe
@NathanOsman tell me or give me a link, how did you do that?

@edwardtorvalds It's actually really easy to setup. Just install squid-deb-proxy on the Pi and then squid-deb-proxy-client on each machine.
Everything else should be automatic.

8:25 PM
thanks
@NathanOsman and of course I have to configure the IPs

You might have to tweak the configuration a bit if you need to mirror PPAs and stuff as well.
@edwardtorvalds Nope - it uses avahi (mDNS) to discover the server.
No need to configure anything network related.

@NathanOsman I am talking about how my laptop will know that PI is running cache server on lan?

Yup.
Whenever the laptop needs a package, it sends an mDNS query for the address of the Pi, which it then uses to connect.

@NathanOsman it wont download packages in advance right? but just the ones that are requested by other computer right?

@edwardtorvalds Correct.

8:27 PM
ok
@NathanOsman but we can setup a server that can do opposite right?
bye people o/

kos
o/ @edwardtorvalds

user136984
@edwardtorvalds: Goodnight! :)

@cl-netbox ^.^

@ParanoidPanda The owl room was my idea. They laughed at me. They said "Why make a room for owls?" Well, my friends, WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?!?!

user136984
@CapyStenchbeast: I am! :D

8:34 PM

@ParanoidPanda sleep well ! :)

8:40 PM
@cl-netbox Have a nice sleep :)

@Neil Thank you ! :)

user3271166I have been following this tutorial for trying to install whatsapp client on ubuntu touch. @Nathan: I've retreated from there now! Too many Owls! Way too many! :D

9:48 PM
So the Go 1.5.1 Debian package fails during the unit tests on my Pi, but the compiler builds. Time to figure out why the tests are failing.
  PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
 8540 pi        20   0 2015640  23588   1968 S 98.1  6.2   0:09.37 a.exe
Slightly curious as to why I have a process named a.exe...

user136984
@Nathan: Perhaps they made it like that for Windows but didn't change it when they did it for Linux... Or you have a stupid Windows virus which is also cross-platform...

$ cat /proc/8540/cmdline
/tmp/go-build247236265/a.exe
It's related to the tests I'm running somehow.

user136984
@KGIII: I managed to find somewhere to write about uMatrix! :D

user136984
@Nathan: So the former then.

@ByteCommander Answer posted askubuntu.com/a/699803/295286 Also your words made me think of this song : Dio - Master of the Moon

10:12 PM
Hey! Apparently you can set GO_TEST_TIMEOUT_SCALE. That should help reduce timeouts.

user136984
@Whaaaaaat: Is it just me, or am I getting creepier?

user136984
I just heard a ping... But not in any of the rooms that I am in...

user136984

user136984
Ok, now that's really strange, I definitely heard the pinging sound... But nobody has pinged me... This room really is haunted isn't it?

user136984
@Nathan: I have looked everywhere and nobody pinged me, but I definitely heard it, is it possible that there is a perfectly ordinary explanation to this (as opposed to supernatural)?

10:27 PM
Why is /proc/cpuinfo only reporting 2.00 BogoMIPS...
@ParanoidPanda Wait for it to show up in your inbox.

user136984
But I looked on my network profile and it didn't come up there in the little bubble that it normally does in on the right next to my username, or does it also take time there?

@ParanoidPanda Did they like your answer? (Also, no time for other chat channels today. Gonna go back out in a little while.)

user136984
@KGIII: Well, it was my own question I asked a while back! :D But I haven't got any upvotes yet...

I see it now. :D I'm checking it out.
I'm glad you like it. :D It comes in handy. (And voted for your answer but not your question. :P )

user136984
Thanks! :)

10:48 PM
@terdon Your work is running now. :D It looks solid so far.
It's gonna be a while. LOL It's choking on a bug.png file every time but then it happily goes on to the next one. At least it won't beat on the server too much.

Tim
@Fabby were you in France when the attack happened?

@Tim No, why?
A few friends of mine were....

Tim
Hmm I couldn't remember if you lived in France or not.

Oh hey @Fabby! I didn't see ya sneak in.
<-- was probably out

@KGIII nah, lurking in the shadows...

10:54 PM
Sometimes it's best. ;-)

LOL The shadow knows!

@Tim Nah... a little bit more North...

@ParanoidPanda Nearly a year ago...

Tim
I thought it was Netherlands maybe

user136984
Denmark?

10:57 PM
@ParanoidPanda I've been roaming around BeNe for 9 months now...
@Tim I was there day before yesterday for an interview, but it doesn't look like I'll be moving there soon as it didn't go well...

I told you to wear pants @Fabby.

Tim
Oh :(

user136984
@Fabby: Beany?

@KGIII Drat! I forgot that particular piece of advice!!!

:D

10:58 PM
(and I was wearing pink boxershorts too!)
(hey, don't give me the TMI preach: you started this conversation!)
@ParanoidPanda BeNeLux = Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg)
BeNe = you get the point!

user136984

@Tim I thought it was: "Neh, nene neh ne!"

Tim

11:01 PM
@KGIII :-)

whoa, G+ redesign.

11:20 PM
I heard about it but can't find the button to enable it.
@Mateo Here's the patch I made that (hopefully) fixes building Go 1.5.1 on the Pi.
It was a tad frustrating because the build error'd out 2.5 hours in. I was able to figure out why though and the patch works around the issue. If the build succeeds this time around, I'll see about submitting it upstream.

O/
<----this guy is late for class, again.

11:55 PM
@NathanOsman it asked me if I wanted to when I visited G+ a little bit ago.

@NathanOsman sweet, that would be an awesome thing

@Seth Yeah, that's how I heard they were showing it off... but I never saw that myself.
@Mateo Second build is in progress - we'll see how it goes.

@NathanOsman I can't find any obvious way of forcing it :/
