Quick hello to @htorque - not that I miss you again!

:D
howdy

ht! heya

argh - better not name this.

minty fresh!

:D

@Takkat >:|
jk.

6:04 PM
Nothing for me - no Unity. I miss Unity so much everytime I boot GNOME classic for Wine fullscreen.

@htorque OMG where have you been!

i turned to the dark side! :D

AHHHHH MINY GRAVATARS!!!

:D

@htorque the menthol side :=D

6:07 PM
wow seriously?

it's still ubuntu. somehow.

ht Ubuntu Gnome got official status so you could turn back

ubuntu gnome 2 got revived? :D

here-:> ubuntu.co.uk/2013/03/its-official-ubuntu-gnome-remix-joins-the-ubuntu-family

Why not just Cinnamon on Ubuntu?

6:11 PM
not sure how well that works.

Works totally fine actually.

you were my unity boy, what happened?
:(

More bugs in Mint I guess.
2

lol

:D i'm more productive using the classic two-panel setup. at work i have at least 20 windows open all the time, spread over two full HD monitors. it's a pain to manage those with unity.

6:13 PM
KDE FTW!

no bugs, cinnamon just loves your memory.
needs a restart at least every three days
reminds me of mutter-based unity :D

reminds me of 10.04.

/me has 20+ windows on duals with unity right now
I can't imagine having to use gnome2 for that

Speaking of that... Compiz hates me.
@JorgeCastro Like I said... KDE FTW

I have enough clocks in my life, thanks

6:15 PM
I can not handle more than 10 windows :X :X

lol

@Rinzwind Same here.
@JorgeCastro ?

it's a joke
because KDE comes with like 50 clocks

@Rinzwind i never said i can handle all those windows :D

and 5000 checkboxes for each clock

6:16 PM
Well.. Yes. That's why KDE is AWESOME.

glassy clock, glossy clock, smokey clock, plain clock, invisible clock.

It's just a little too shiny sometimes.

do they still ship a binary clock ootb?

@htorque That reminds me of Vista chess. Grass board, wood board, ceramic board..

@JorgeCastro google does not answer "amount of clock apps in kde" with a number :*

6:17 PM
@JorgeCastro Yep.

i only need a fuzzy clock.
looking out of the window fuzzy.

Gotta pass Mathematics!

I am out of votes

We need a robot cleaner.

I still have some.

6:22 PM
greetings guys

@Takkat we do! :) lets call it AmithKK >:)

OMW.. Jasper.. is... gone.

hello graphicsman so you rock at gpu's?

I try
anyone know an alternative to stat for determining age of folders? trying write a script to determine age of projects in my rip

not me :X

6:26 PM
how are you doing today rinzwi?

fine :D could not sleep so I started early on AU.
day at work started with a crashed mysql server that did not want to start again.

ya I know the feeling. I hate going to sleep when I cant figure something out

took 2 hours to decide to restore a backup...

havent played with mysql yet but its on my list after I learn php this summer

we got a new record last week. 196 million records in 1 table :D

6:29 PM
wow

sales history table....went back to 1988 D:
converted from a plain direct file to a mysql file (sql file was 35 Gb and the direct 120)

ever figure out what happened?

ibdata1 got corrupted... sql probably went belly-up cuz of a badly designed table.
(ibdata1 probably is the file that is needed for commit and rollback action)

figured it out!! instead of stat use date. thank you google, lol.

rm redo*.log :D
> 196 million records in 1 table
where's the problem? hardware to support this (madness) is cheap today! :D

6:35 PM
@htorque no problem with that file :D :D

just don't open it with notepad.exe hehe

D:
vim might be able to open it

how would you even be able to open it

with a editor that streams @graphicsman
it would read several lines at a time and not the whole file
I used this before to open a 15Gb-ish file:
vim filename | less

I think Ill stick to my small stuff

Q: Package Installer Conflict Issue - Firefox package

RyanI'm running into all kinds of problems right off the bat with my kubuntu install. I believe the issue is related to trying to install firefox. I losely understand package management, however I don't understand how to fix this error, so I would love any help. I read and followed the steps listed...

^ That's a package conflict bug, essentially a bug report
VTC: OT

Well I'll take your word for it.

@Seth read the error message.
its complaining firefox is trying to install something that's part of kde-firefox-installer
that's a bug/packaging conflict
(not dependencies)

Oli
9:55 PM
Damnint to Hell, Linode. I have too much free disk space (~30GB), far too much free network transfer (2.9TB) and now I've got over a gig of free RAM.

Why are all my projects so efficient?! >_<

@Oli, can you address a flag/close on this

@Oli I could sure use some extra bandwidth :P

@TheLordofTime done de done done done.

wonderful.

jrg
running chrome will be... fun on raring. No libudev0.

10:10 PM
@jrg why not just drag the package forward from quantal?

jrg
because while i can do that, i don't have a real reason to.
chromium should work fine for the next few weeks.

Oli
@jrg raring has libudev1

jrg
@Oli but the chrome dpkg really wants libudev0.

When is Raring supposed to be out now anyway?
Seeing as they missed the fourth.

jrg
they never aimed for the 4th.

Oli
10:13 PM
@jrg I guess they'll have to update their package... Considering it's not even released yet, I can't blame them for not building against it yet

Oh yeah. The 13th. Duh.

Oli
Chromium working?

feels stupid

jrg
chromium is, yeah
and now is chrome. backported in the other direction, works fine.

Gah. The 25th. Someone told me it was in the numbers...

jrg
10:19 PM
it is. 2013.04
in ISO 8601 format.

Thanks.
I was so confused there...

jrg
oh, @Oli - did you get my message yesterday?

@jrg do you have write/merge-accept on github.com/AskUbuntu/ProFormaComments

jrg
@TheLordofTime GitHub time is not for another 30 minutes. This is "clear out the other todo list" time.

10:23 PM
So yeah.

jrg
so yes, but not this moment.

@jrg just adding something to your todo list :P

jrg
I saw it, I do get emails. And multiple other alerts.
;P

@Seth drops @Seth into a vat of /dev/null

10:24 PM
I did and I went for a poo and forgot all about it. That may seem like too much information and it probably is, but it's the truth.

I'm *fully* loaded at the moment (working 16-hour days to fit everything in) and I'll be at that level for a while. But thanks for the poke.

jrg
and you can shrink it to 8 px now though - previous the smallest was 32.
@Oli ok. :)

@TheLordofTime What for this time?

jrg
hey, just wanted to make sure people have work.

Oli
@jrg Yeah it's appreciated.

@Seth because.

jrg
10:25 PM
(if anyone knows a django dev, a local devshop is looking for somebody short-term, and potentially long-term if you want to move.)
@Oli np.

@jrg Did you hear? Jasper is gone.

jrg
WAT

@TheLordofTime Not a good reason.

jrg
name change? or gone-gone?

@jrg Got tired SE.. sorta.
@jrg Gone gone.

jrg
10:30 PM
wow.

@jrg Yeah....

Oli
Who what where and when?

@Oli Hm?

Oli
@Seth Who has gone?

jrg
@Oli will hunting.
formerly known as jaspery loy, and many other names.

10:32 PM
@jrg yeah that.

Q: How can I disable developer mode on Samsung chromebook series 3

user148133I have installed Chrubuntu on my Samsung S3 Chromebook. I ran this code: sudo cgpt add -i 6 -P 5 -S 1 /dev/mmcblk0 to make Ubuntu the default boot OS. But I keep getting the OS verification has been turned off everytime I boot my chromebook. I have to wait a little while for Ubuntu to load. I u...

(it seems to be about Chrubuntu, is that even a valid derivative?)

Chrubuntu? OT.

VTC please :p

Done.

jrg

@jrg once that one's approved/rejected, I've got another commit waiting to submit that adds a generic NARQ response.

11:10 PM
I commented.

@NathanOsman you failed.
i already have "are classified as"
/me checked the branch

Wait, that's not what I see.

uhm...
that's what i see

Exactly.

jrg
i see "classed as" in all of them

i think you should splash water over your face and look again, it says "are classified as"

jrg
11:13 PM
@TheLordofTime nope, won't work.

Uhm...

@TheLordofTime "are classed as"

classed != classifed

ah, you original statement was off then
/me corrects

jrg has frozen this room.

11:17 PM
Wha...? Why did the room freeze? And what exactly does that mean???

jrg
Ok, enough. Guys, while I agree that this is a "problem", I think we're all older than 6, so calm down.
Please. thank you.

jrg has unfrozen this room.

jrg
@NathanOsman you could talk becuase you're a diamond chat-wide.

I was about to ask that.

I was wondering about that too ;p

I'm fine.
And I'm not going to say anything.

@Oli We talked about this before... Apparently it still works: meta.stackoverflow.com/a/175906/203389

Oli
@Seth We did?

11:42 PM
Yeah.. You were making an answer and had to add stuff to pass it over the character limit.

Oli
I see... No. <!-- blargh yada yada plugh hadamadeek -->

Yep.
You told me you didn't think that worked anymore.
Apr 2 at 16:22, by Oli
@Seth I didn't think that was possible any longer (happy to be wrong - it'll save me adding junk)
