Q: Problem with Linux Mint 11

user86987Good day. There is a problem with Ubuntu One on Linux Mint 11 It cant sync and writes: File Sync error. (org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited: Process /usr/lib/ubuntuone-client/ubuntuone-syncdaemon exited with status 1)

@Chan-HoSuh i actually recommend mint as live media for people to put in their disk drives when they anticipate something bad happening online since it ships with flash enabled...but for a real install, use a real distribution...
At least that one has to do with Ubuntu One
@RolandTaylor I am evil
03:46
> for a real install, use a real distribution...
I rule out Debian for installation.
@Chan-HoSuh true. that is actually a fair enough point. ubuntu one on windows is on-topic...
It is one hell of a mess.
@jokerdino no it's not. it's just not as automatic as you're used to
because u1 is supported by the u1 team?
03:47
Yes, i think so
get a broadcom and use live media
noooooo....anything but broadcom. atheros, intel non-N card, or some realtek cards.
I have a question about this: askubuntu.com/questions/173972/…
what about it?
The linked dupe isn't helpful because it is about freezes after your machine has booted up successfully. Is there a better dupe about debugging boot?
03:51
i don't think so. i would agree that it bears expansion in the during boot area, but it should go under the same canonical question. there's no reason to separate that sub-issue out in my opinion
yay fixed ctrl-f4 problem in kde
anyone wants to document it in the site?
@msPeachy --^
What was the problem?
ctrl-f4 doesn't work in kde
ctrl-f4 problem in kde.... sounds kind of obscure.

Q: Why doesn't Ctrl + F5 work in Firefox?

JacintoI'm using Xubuntu 11.04, and with a Windows XP in my VirtualBox. Both have latest Firefox 4 installed. But inside my Ubuntu, Ctrl+F5 never works, and because I don't know what else I could do to force refreshing a page, I have to copy the link and paste them into my Windows XP to get the newest r...

03:54
want question or both?
never mind
No, i didn't mind.
are you talking about a similar issue in KDE? some kind of conflict?
ctrl-f4 is taken by kwin
hm it seems natural to me that ctrl-function key combos should be taken by the DE
03:57
OK, i can ask after the test (going to KDE)
i was hoping to give some rep to msp :/
OK then
but i don't mind some rep. :P
you ask, i answ4
is there some history of ctrol-f whatever being used in Netscape Navigator or something?
OK. she lost the chance (she is already 2k now)
:P
03:58
lol
@jokerdino is it ctrl-f4 or alt-f4
ctrl-f4
it should close a tab in firefox
Ok.
anyone want to offer a bounty for: askubuntu.com/q/4408/43660
the missing case, when Ubuntu can't even start up

Q: Ctrl+F4 doesn't work in KDE for firefox

AnwarI observed that the shortcut for closing a tab in Firefox (CTRL+F4) doesn't work on KDE. It seems it is being intersepted by kwin. Is there any fix or workaround for this problem?

04:12
@Anwar can you actually reproduce the issue?
Yes.
alright. that's good
The same case here, i tested in Unity and KDE
it works in Unity right?
lunch time, be back later
04:13
yes. work in Unity
If I delete a question, can i undelete it later
@msPeachy cya MightyPeachy
@Anwar nope
@Anwar only answers
If i leave the page
I have deleted and undeleted a question now. haven't tested with leaving the page though
hmm.. will be deleted forever if you refresh the page
What is the shortcut to switch between tabs in konsole (KDE) ?
alt + number
nope
04:22

A: Can't install lua on 12.04 on Chrome book

Amol SaleIf your computer is connected to internet, Just try following command. my-desktop:~/py$ sudo apt-get install lua5.2 It will install lua5.2 from official ubuntu repository. It's easy way of installing packages on ubuntu.

It was the answer you commented

Yes, i suggested you to do the answer. (i was 90% sure about he don't know to install it from std repo)

A: ubiquty frontend installer for unity

Amith KKThe gtk package is what is used for the vanilla Unity Ubuntu installer. So yes, ubiquity-frontend-gtk would work fine. Unity is basically a frontend or a shell to gtk3, much like Gnome Shell is.

Hello all
Not even one upvite?

lol, @AmithKK

heh, who removed the downvote?
I know you're looking at me... but it wasn't me
Given your addiction to downvote, i am not convinced it wasn't you.
I'm only an addict... you're the dealer

hi @TomBrossman
:S
What did I do wrong this time?
All 4 of this user's questions (2 closed as dupes so far): askubuntu.com/users/86658/erikson?tab=questions can be fixed by using this answer: askubuntu.com/a/49575/12864 Should we keep closing them or is there a better way to answer? I'd like to help them but I don't think they are understanding so far...
i'll take a look in a minute
@TomBrossman they all look very similar to me.
06:58
Yep, they are. The user has made a mess of their sources list, and I recommended just reinstalling (they are new to Ubuntu, 3 days or so). Don't know if that is necessary, but it is easier than tracking down and repairing every possible error with sources.
i think he can just blow away sources.list and recreate it using repogen.simplylinux.ch
@jokerdino Nice find!
I have it bookmarked. :)

why this question is still unaccepted askubuntu.com/q/47488/61218

Is it compulsory for everyone to fast during that month or can someone fast later or something?
@jokerdino feel free
@jokerdino It is compulsory for every one who reached the age and are not seek
Ah, what about those who were in olympics? I thought they could do it later after the sports?
I don't actually know the exact rule, but I can say, games may not be a valid excuse
07:36
Hm. I was always of the opinion that if you have some really valid reason, you can choose to postpone it.
Or if you can't afford to fast at all, then donate food to the needy for a month.
I can be absolutely wrong D:
D: --> sad face
Yeah, that rule is for those who are really very seek (can't fast, verified by doctors, fasting may harm life or worsen situation) and also when you are travelling
Though, it was encouraged to fast on travelling also
hmm nice. i learnt something new.
but wait, there can be an exception
IF you game as a profession and you live on it, the rule can be re-considered, because you are playing not for just fun, but as a profession
hmm cool. that makes sense now.
i read on newspapers that some players fasted while others took drinks during the day.
I'll research the topic. and will inform you
07:41
Thanks.
Hopefully, you will something new too. :)
@jokerdino Yes, that may be a proof that, you may fast during certain games.
new means?!
@Anwar new as in something you didn't know before.
like partman in ubiquity instead of parted :)
thanks. might be or not.
