if you hover the mouse over it, it changes to display application menu
that's what i thought
it's a little annoying, but I guess I can live with that
another one in that line: the dock (I don't know how it's called) jumps in whenever I push crtl, alt, or shift key in the desktop or any unmaximized window, it's the intended behaviour?
When I plug an external monitor into my laptop, the laptop screen is still considered my primary display. Since my laptop is on the right of my external monitor, I now have the Launcher sort of "in the middle".
How do I get the launcher onto my external monitor?
This manual page documents briefly the rar archiver.
This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution
because the original program does not have a manual page.
Commands and options described here are as of rar 3.0b5.
rar and unrar are programs for manipulation with .rar archives.
Hah, I'm losing my mind here. I need to SSH directly into the SFTP subsystem to automate an upload, I can't run any SSH commands or it kicks me out. Also, I can't script to authenticate using any command line stuff without a key.
@Trufa if applications are restricted to working with what they have, the system is more secure, and there is less of a likelihood that an application can create a hidden folder that then cannot be tracked later by the system as a whole (it would quickly get technical to discuss this lol)
@Trufa the idea is that tools are supposed to do as little as possible, so that you always understand exactly what they're going to do. Take "dc" for example, it reads from stdin and prints to stdout, so that you can do something like this: "echo '2 2+p' | dc"
or even "ping -c $(echo '2 2+p' | dc) $(cat ips.text | grep ^192)"
i see no restart, though. 5/6 of the dev cycle went fine, now every now and then X freezes - i still can access the virtual terminals: nothing to find in dmesg/xsession-errors/Xorg.0.log. it's also no unity/compiz issue. maybe bad karma :D
@TheX No. There a LOT of things that I was doing wrong (Found out last night). If I install them in /usr/share/applications, they get overwritten when the next update comes out. However, if you install them in .local/share/applications, then you don't run the risk of losing them/borking them when the package updates.
@MarcoCeppi I just pushed an update that integrates the search server on AWS thanks a lot again, totally awesome of you to host the thing - let me know about traffic when it's public in a few days
as soon as @George is around, I'm gonna integrate his server as well, then we'll have two layers of no-cache query acceleration \o/
that's why I get "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)" :)
@GeorgeEdison mine's here btw: http://50.19.108.78:8080/similar?title=asd what sort of response time do you get on that?
I'm not first checking my server, with a 0.3s timeout, then your server with a 0.5s timeout, and if both fail I just query the public SE API. At worst, that adds 0.8 second to every query, assuming both are down. The SE query takes something like 0.9 seconds.
Hey,
I alway will see may menu bar on the left site. So I can switch faster between programms. In the Ubuntu Netbookremix 10.04 it was no prblem. But now the status bar is hide by default and i cant find a way to change it.
so is there a way to change?
User don't need to hover top panel to see application menus. But if application maximized, user need to hover top panel to see it's menus (like current unity behavior).
Thanks
hmm I can't work out how to change screen brightness since the upgrade ... my usual fn + left / fn + right combo is bringing up the OSD, but there is no change in brightness ... any ideas?
@GeorgeEdison sure, I'm ready to push it when ever, and I guess we won't go through app review for a few days
And if you do it after app review, I can just push an update, since I've already pushed one alternative API server it won't be a major update, i.e. no additional review required
@ajmitch Well, I am ready. Two things to consider: 1) I'm hopefully right in saying that adding George's server (which is a new string in a 1-tuple, making it a two-tuple [that's it]) won't require any review, so that I can just push it when the server is ready, and 2) We may (I'm not sure) want to wait for the Unity bug to get fixed. Apart from that, my code is ready to go
