7:00 PM
And part of why I like it more now is probably thanks to HTML4+ and the widespread use of AJAX
but... I'm not sure HTTP uploads are right for Gajet

@everyone you can download it now!

You are probably right but my bigger fear is that it opens him up to the whole application which while I trust he's not going to touch anything to break it... accidents happen and I don't want to have to worry about that
Or support it
Especially since its MVC and kind of confusing for those who don't know it

I always do backups before any changes,
don't think that low of me!

Like I said, its not a lack of trust, etc. Its a fear of an accident. I know you are competent, even if I can't read your code :P

Hmm. On my webserver, I can limit ftp account to specific directories, and I can even apply a quota

7:06 PM
the later is more common
so your sentence should be grammatically wrong!

My old web server it was an FTP account per domain / subdomain. Guess I never investigated on this because I didn't know anything else. Lemme look
Ooo... I can specify a home folder

can anyone recomend me a good free 2D drawing application?

paint.net

I like Paint.net
<3

Inkscape for vector

7:08 PM
thanks :)

as much as I've worked with it, it seems to be designed for game developers
specially the alpha part

i always used adobe illustrator, but now i want something legal...

@Liukas hah, illegal software usage outside iran! I'll report you right away!

what? :D

@JohnMcDonald thanks for the tip on ftp accounts. I am now less ignorant :)
And Gajet has ftp access :D

7:15 PM
@Gajet U serious? :D

@tylerrrr07 as I said before there are two kinds of technologies out there, those which I'm familiar with, and those I can start working with them right away.

Indeed. So from this point forward you are on your own :P

though it usually takes some time to master anything but I can usually handle my own issues with the first glance.

I believe its roughly 10,000 hours to master something

I guess so
I've just noticed there are too many translations for a single word in persian
and I was looking for spelling of completely another word, something like "harsh"

7:22 PM
so you want something that means the same as harsh? in english?

no I was not sure how to spell harsh, so I just tried to look for translation of the similar word in persian
I was going to say
@tylerrrr07 it's a bit too harsh

ah
What is?

why does it take so long to preview a them?

I don't know... I just install them and set them
instead of preview
And if the 10,000 hours is what was harsh - squidoo.com/10000-hour-rule
If it was my comment about being on your own, I'll obviously provide support where you need it but I think you are pretty well set now :)

nope leaving me on my own was harsh

7:25 PM
I just can't make the site for you

I think even 10000 hours is sometimes not enough for mastering something, consider C++ for example

I'm not sure I've spent 10,000 hours on any single thing in my life

I guess I've got to customize my own theme, I'm not really liking any of these

I like the one I settled on
Bootstrap

yeah that one is cool,
but I'm not sure if it's same as the theme for battery game

7:30 PM
Its really simple... so I made the picture to express that I just don't care :)

also you didn't give me access to change anything in orchard
like manually installing/changing themes
bbl

You can do that right from the dashboard
at least install

@GustavoGtoknu you can download the game now

@Gajet where's it?!

@Gajet I changed your ftp access to be fully open on your subdomain. Don't break anything
I really don't want to be the guy who has to fix it

7:36 PM
h t t p :// battery.intellisenseless.com/battery.intellisenseless.com/Media/Default/Version%‌20Archive/Bokhor%20Bokhor.rar
fix it!
its a 404

w8
@GustavoGtoknu fixed

btw, the damn rar file is broken lol

it was a simple problem hah?

the rar file is corrupted
at least here
let me download it again.
BTW, why dont you upload it on some file sharing website? it might save you bandwidth.

@tylerrrr07 don't worry
@GustavoGtoknu now that you mention it I could do that
the archive is damaged

7:40 PM
yeah, i just got sure of it.

let me upload it again

second time i donwload it and its damaged lol

what do you thing about Gimp?

good opensource alternative over photoshop.

@Liukas it's a little hard to learn
but it's all good from every other aspect

7:42 PM
have you ever used adobe illustrator?

I just get shocked by myself from time to time by seeing what applications I've installed on my computer before.

I never, but by videos I see it's a good vector image editor :)

I just found out I had filezilla but i can't remember why on earth did I install it

i need something similar where you can sellect edges and move them

from a normal image file? like png or jpg?

7:43 PM
@Gajet You received a message from the future.

these are rasterized, and adobe illustrator will do no good with it.
@Damir haha!

what other good bold__vector__bold drawing applications do you know

Feel the dejavu of uploading files on it
@Liukas Just saying, if you want to edit a rasterized image, ANY vector drawing app will help you
you'll be better with gimp and PS
English question, if I use "people" should I use "want" or "wants"?

it seems filezilla uploads a lot faster than explorer
who can explain that

ftp power

7:48 PM
i like apps where you can draw everything from a scratch

Ah, so you're not editing one? so you should try vector editors then :)
adobe flash seems the easiest, btw.
but it lacks some features that AI has.

can we please stop talking about adobe here?
I'm eating dinner!

Oh, sorry, you should had warned me before ):
where's the new download link >.>

edited right now

@GustavoGtoknu @Gajet - I have "unlimited bandwidth" which means theyll get skeptical if it gets really high but as long as I am using it for web hosting and not backing up my PC or other such sillyness we are fine

7:53 PM
this time I've uploaded zip format

what do you think about this one? inkscape.org

@Liukas I like it. I made this simple drawing in it intellisenseless.com

@Gajet 404

I like how it has a brush that you can warp your shapes with

why

7:54 PM
@tylerrrr07 intellisenseless.com * :P

Missed an e - try again

I was missing a classic in link
try again, I hope the archive is not broken again

@tylerrrr07 umm, that software sucks?

@Gajet the download link works fine for me and the zip opens

@Liukas I think you are confusing software sucking with me not being an artist

did you refresh the page?

anyway here is the direct link :

Direct link to download ^^

let me ctrl+f5

@tylerrrr07 oh... So you really liked it? :D

yay downloading

Yeah its easy to work with once you get the feel of it
And its vector so you get to move verts and such around without losing quality

ok, i'll try it

7:58 PM
I'd recommend looking up tutorials so that the UI doesn't lose you and make you hate it

wow we can play over lan?

nope
I was going to implement that feature but dropped it after I finished UI!
now I'm adding more features to gameplay, and make it 3D
I'll also add multiplayer feature up to 64 players in single game
or 128

wow, will need a big map :D
how're you generating these mazes?

it took around 50mins to generate them

@CodeAssasssin you lurking?

8:00 PM
I can give you the code, but I guess you won't understand it! :D

I'm here lol

I know, did you check my blog ?

o.O
Whut

Just saw your icon and was surprised you didn't say anything yet :P

8:01 PM
XD
Whats going on lol? I was playing a game lol

@GustavoGtoknu here is the basic idea
In computer science, Prim's algorithm is a greedy algorithm that finds a minimum spanning tree for a connected weighted undirected graph. This means it finds a subset of the edges that forms a tree that includes every vertex, where the total weight of all the edges in the tree is minimized. The algorithm was developed in 1930 by Czech mathematician Vojtěch Jarník and later independently by computer scientist Robert C. Prim in 1957 and rediscovered by Edsger Dijkstra in 1959. Therefore it is also sometimes called the DJP algorithm, the Jarník algorithm, or the Prim–Jarník algorithm. Other...

Nothing important - play away :P

thanks :D will be good reading

but I've improved it alot to meet my requirements, for example eliminate all dead-ends.

was it hard?

8:03 PM
I'll post the code in the blog in few minutes

I think i've heard before of this prim's algorithm in a pacman game.
but not sure if it was pacman

actually like many other code I've written first I've implemented my code, and later found out there was a prim algorithm doing same thing! but anyway I should bow before those who created the algorithm before me!

hehe
@Gajet May I ask, why are you so PRO in pathfindings, graphs and etc? Do you work with something in the area?

nope, I just like graphs.

awesome :D

8:08 PM
and I'm not pro by any chance. it's just that I usually find the algorithm myself, before knowing they exist. and I implement them by just having a glance of how complicated algorithms work.
I don't really need to know implementation details before I can do what I want

That's really nice, that means you can go very far by yourself ;)

I guess so

as stephelton said, you dont need school if you have passion :)

but I just get stuck on some well well-solved problems cause I can't find the solution immediately.

btw, your game crashed when i tried to quit it lol
it dont want me to quit, aww
so lovely

8:13 PM
I guess I have to fix that bug, but I didn't had a crash experience myself

I didn't either... or at least I dont remember it

well, I forgot it open, when i came back to close it
the close button did nothing
so i tried pressing ESC then crash
didnt tried to reproduce, but these were the steps :)

ESC should close the app.
but maybe I've forgotten to remove some parts of new code
nope it should work fine

I may be the only person on earth with a 64bit CPU that uses 32bit OSes
both my ubuntu and win 7 are 32bit, what the heck is wrong with me

8:25 PM
@GustavoGtoknu nope my friends also used to use 32bit OS
but he was a great fan of PES6, and you can't that game on 64bit version of 7

How does it not work on Win7 64?

can't he use the 32bit version of the game on the OS? lol

That doesn't make sense, because all of my games are 32 bit

application problem, I'm not sure why the game generated some unknown error even in compatibility mode!

and I'm on Win7 64bit

8:32 PM
And with the addition of code blocks I think my blog is just about set up...

@GustavoGtoknu added a post about part of maze generation algorithm
@tylerrrr07 I want that one too!

@tylerrrr07 There's a comment! :o

@Gajet I will take a look at it :D

You guys do realize there's a tight memory restriction on 32-bit machines, right?

:O
@Gajet I'll set up the necessary files and email you some instructions on how I got it to work with the editor smoothly

8:34 PM
@JohnMcDonald It's still worth considering 32bit even if you're on a 64bit system.

:O since when?!

@tylerrrr07 isn't it a simple module to add?

Nope

64 bit generates a lot of cache misses and is generally slower because of the increased pointer size.

I had to update some core files to include proper JS / CSS and then you've got to format the html in your post just right =/

8:35 PM
@WilliamMindWorXMariager yup, I can see that

So 64bit just worth on a really fast pc?

I guess I can live without it for now!

@GustavoGtoknu 64bit is only really worth it if you need the extra memory space.

But is that a reason to limit yourself to ~3GB of ram? :/ I donno

Well, I just have 4gb of RAM anyway.

8:36 PM
If you look at EVE online, they have both 32 bit and 64 bit servers, and only switch to the 64 bit ones when needed.

@JohnMcDonald what if you don't won more than 3GB installed?

@GustavoGtoknu Check your system settings, it won't recognize all 4GB

not counting that most part of it goes to the onboard graphics card.

goodnight everyone

Where are you going @Gajet?

8:37 PM
I know, It just recognize 3,19GB, as said on system specs

to sleep?

@Gajet goodnight!

it's passed 1AM here, and I almost always need to wake up at 7!

8:38 PM
@GustavoGtoknu In other words, if you did want more ram one day, you have to upgrade your OS (to a 64-bit OS)

I'm rocking 8GB of RAM <3
Not including VRAM. :P

likewise

all those days when I don't need to wake up soon I stay up till 4-5 but tonight's (and all other week days) are a bit different

My pc doesnt have slots for more ram anyway
and it is locked at most 2gb per slot :P
so i wont get more than 4gb so soon

that doesn't discount the option of replacing all of your existing ram with 2 sticks of 4GB each
Anyway...

8:39 PM
I may need to upgrade my motherboard. I want to get a new CPU.
My current one is pretty outdated compared to the rest of my system.

@WilliamMindWorXMariager sidenote: our weekends are thersday, and friday.
goodnight everyone

For new PCs, if you want the PC to be future compatible and don't want to buy a new OS in the next 2 years, I'd go with 64 bit OS

My harddisks outperform my CPU in the windows experience test. :(

Owch
You have SSDs? or a really slow CPU?

@WilliamMindWorXMariager +1... My CPU is really slow, poor core 2 duo.

8:41 PM
Two regular drives in raid 0. And an old Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00Ghz.

What score does the stripping give you?

Raid 0 really gives a noticeable performance boost. If you have onboard raid controller, it's worth going raid 0. You loose nothing in exchange for better performance.

Hi

@JohnMcDonald 5.9, it's two 7200RPM disks.

Hey @Moshe

8:43 PM
@WilliamMindWorXMariager You lose reliability

You still lucky, I got a core 2 duo @ 2.67GHz

@JohnMcDonald I've never had a disk fail on me, so I don't worry too much. And it's just my system disks anyways.

and odd, my single HDD also scores 5.9

everything I have is 7.5+ except my HDD being a 5.9 :(

One of my disks is dead right now!

8:44 PM
Don't throw them around?

@tylerrrr07 Same story

Alright. Well I've got a web site. Now I need something to write about xD

@tylerrrr07 write about gd.se

Not a bad idea lol
Maybe :)

Anyone of you kids have a good understanding of the basic windows API? In particular what TranslateMessage exactly does.

8:46 PM
Windows API? Sounds like voodoo.

Seems it processes a key down/up event, and posts the correct char event to the message listener.

@JohnMcDonald :-(
Writing a massively cool tool for iOS development.

Thats massively cool! :P

Geofencing anyone?

@Moshe yeah, it sucks, but at least it's under warranty. I should get that under way

8:49 PM

@JohnMcDonald how did it die??

App lets you draw geofences.

@Moshe Could could totally make some territory capturing style game with that

And save them as a PLIST.
@tylerrrr07 Lol. Is that a reference to my inclusion of political territories in that fence?

Nah I didn't even blow up the picture. I just looked at a part of map completely shaded in red and thought "Risk"

8:50 PM
Heh, nice.

@GustavoGtoknu It just... did. It's causing BSODs when I access a certain sector, but other than that, it seems to work like usual. Kinda weird

brb. gonna reboot since my ESC key seems to be busted right now...

@JohnMcDonald Tried to recovery it with some method? lol

BSOD
I've tried a few things, each ending in a BSOD

There should be preference in Windows to choose the color of the BSOD...

8:52 PM
GSOD

*SOD Where * is the color you've chosen.
Or * is random

last time i got lots of bsods my ram was about to die ):

let me guess: Cornflower Blue?

@JohnMcDonald <3

8:53 PM
@JohnMcDonald Hahaha.

Done.

Heh, nice

haha awesome!

Yeah I've only ever had major BSOD issues twice. Once with a bad stick of ram, and the second time being the same stick of ram going bad after it went through the warranty process.
Might have been my MOBO killing the sticks but I really don't know. New PC with no problems in the last 2 years

9:02 PM
Yeah, RAM is the most common cause of BSODs in my experience. Windows really don't like it when data that shouldn't change changes. :P

ehh... I've had too many computer problems. Basically every type of component (except the case and monitor) has died at least once on me

The best one for me as my CPU fan dying everytime and I didnt noticed it.
BSODS happening almost everyday, and when i got to look what was going on i had one hole on the CPU, it melted lol.

I've had a PSU go... but that doesn't cause BSODs. The computer just kind of doesn't work once thats gone. I guess it happened so sudden maybe one going bad causes BSOD. Don't know.

at least it made me upgrade from a dual core to a core 2 duo :P
thunderbolts also love me. 2 mobos have died on thunderstorms here.

You use a surge protector?
Not that those are 100% protection, but

9:07 PM
I live in brazil, we don't have such technology!
Kidding, yes I use one

lol

I was thinking to myself: "Is he serious? Does he know it's basically a power-bar?" lol

At least the last time that i had the problem i was using one. The discharge came by the LAN cable. I guess. The LAN switch wasnt secured.
since then I just use wifi on thunderstorms :)

Yeah. They make surge protectors with Cable / Phone / Ethernet ports now too :)

9:14 PM
Reminds me of when I was working on this project (for work) and was overseas (doesn't matter where), but they had a large room filled with RTUs (computer equipment). When someone went to plug his laptop between two RTUs, his laptop fried on the spot. What had happened was the technicians didn't... (fuzzy on electronics) didn't connect the grounds? So there were 2 "grounds" and they were many volts appart. The difference travelled in one ground line and out the other to complete the connection

Apparently, if someone had accidentally touch both grounds at the same time, it would have really hurt

poor laptop.

I'd rather a laptop than a person
And the two grounds were like 3 ft from eachother
Danger!

lol, how can physics be so crazy

9:32 PM
I should really get me a blog.
So I could document findings, like my current one that enables input for WPF components hosted in XNA.
And my old __fastcall in C# trick.
Hmmm.
To blog or not to blog.

To quote myself from last year: "I'm not a huge fan of blogs"
lol
Now I've come around 180
Not only do I find myself writing in my own blog, but I read tones of other people's blogs now

Well, If it's not wasteful stuff like blogs about the life of a "no one", then it's worth to read (:

Including @Byte56's blog and @TrevorPowell's blog
heh, I donno. I kinda like following indie devs

heh
Goodbye guys. Going to have some sleep.
I'll be back in some hours, just a nap

9:52 PM
@WilliamMindWorXMariager Oh, as I've heard so many times before: Don't expect anyone to follow you, or to comment, or to interact with your blog because Nobody cares about you
:( sad, but true

That's not right
You should always care about yourself.
You can blog for your own sake, at least.

valid point. Write for yourself
That's what I do. Do you think anyone reads my blog? (hint: no)
And why should they? I'm boring, :p

I read through a bunch of them :P
Only because you linked me to it htough
